The best Xbox Game Pass alternative depends on what you play and where: PlayStation Plus Extra is the closest match for a downloadable console game catalog, NVIDIA GeForce NOW streams supported games from PC storefront libraries you already use, and Ubisoft+ Premium suits players focused on Ubisoft titles. None is a universal replacement across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, so start with your hardware and the specific games you want.
At a glance: which alternative fits?
| Service | Best fit | What the subscription provides | Platforms and key details |
|---|---|---|---|
| PlayStation Plus Extra | PlayStation owner seeking a broad rotating catalog | Game Catalog plus Essential benefits | Sony describes hundreds of catalog games. US monthly price displayed when checked: $16.99. Games can leave the catalog; from January 2026, PS4 games are added only intermittently. See Sony’s catalog and plans. |
| PlayStation Plus Premium | PlayStation owner who also wants classics, trials, or streaming | Extra benefits, Classics Catalog, game trials, and cloud streaming | Cloud streaming is available on PS4, PS5, and PC, though some games cannot be streamed. US monthly price displayed when checked: $19.99. Sony lists minimum internet speeds of 5 Mbps, or 15 Mbps for 1080p, and notes territory and content limitations. Check Sony’s current details. |
| NVIDIA GeForce NOW | PC gamer who owns supported games and wants to stream them | Cloud access to eligible games from supported connected PC storefront libraries | It is not an all-you-can-play catalog equivalent. NVIDIA says premium members can access 2,200+ Install-to-Play titles; individual game support and storefront requirements apply. Search supported games. |
| Ubisoft+ Premium | Player primarily interested in Ubisoft franchises | A publisher-focused game selection | Ubisoft’s US page lists PC access through Ubisoft Connect and play on Xbox consoles. Confirm the current catalog and regional terms. View Ubisoft+ Premium. |
The two PlayStation prices above are the monthly amounts displayed on Sony’s US page when checked on October 4, 2026; they are not a full cost comparison. Promotions, billing periods, taxes, region, and renewal terms affect what you pay. Check your local service page before subscribing.

Which alternative works on your console or PC?
If you own a PlayStation
PlayStation Plus Extra is the most direct option here if what you want is a rotating console catalog to download and play. Premium is the higher tier to consider if its Classics Catalog, trials, or cloud streaming matter to you. These are PlayStation benefits, not a way to add a comparable catalog to an Xbox console.

If you play on PC
GeForce NOW is a different kind of alternative: it streams eligible games associated with supported PC storefront libraries, including PC Game Pass and Ubisoft Connect collections. It does not generally grant a new library of games just because you subscribe. Check whether each game you want is supported and whether you own or can access it through a connected storefront.
#1 Best Overall
- MODERNIZED DESIGN — Experience the modernized design of the XBOX Wireless Controller with sculpted surfaces and updated geometry that enhances comfort and control during long gaming sessions.
- PRECISION PERFORMANCE — Stay on target with a hybrid D-pad and textured grips on triggers, bumpers, and back case for improved accuracy and handling.
- SHARE BUTTON: Seamlessly capture and share content such as screenshots, recordings, and more with the new Share button.
- VERSATILE CONNECTIVITY — Connect via USB-C for plug-and-play on console and PC, or quickly pair and switch between supported devices with XBOX Wireless and Bluetooth support.
- BUILT-IN AUDIO SUPPORT — Plug in compatible headsets using the 3.5mm audio jack for direct voice chat and immersive in-game sound.
PlayStation Plus Premium also offers cloud streaming on PC, but it is part of a PlayStation subscription and has platform, title, territory, and connection requirements. It is not the same as streaming a broad selection of your existing PC storefront games through GeForce NOW.
If you play on Xbox
Ubisoft+ Premium is the option in this comparison that Ubisoft’s US page says can be played on Xbox consoles, but it is limited to a publisher-focused selection. The other alternatives serve different ecosystems: PlayStation Plus is for PlayStation benefits, and GeForce NOW is for streaming supported PC games on supported devices. None should be treated as a like-for-like cross-platform Xbox Game Pass replacement.

Choose by the games and access model you want
- Want a rotating catalog to download on PlayStation? Check PlayStation Plus Extra’s live catalog for the games you plan to play.
- Want classics, trials, or PlayStation cloud streaming too? Compare Premium’s added benefits with the extra cost shown in your region.
- Already own PC games and want cloud access? Search GeForce NOW’s supported-games list and verify the required storefront for each title.
- Mainly want Ubisoft games? Check Ubisoft+ Premium’s current catalog and supported platforms rather than assuming it includes a broad mix of publishers.
A catalog listing is not a promise that a game will remain available. Before paying, look up the exact games you care about on the service’s live page. Also confirm your device, country, cloud-streaming eligibility, connection requirements, and subscription renewal terms.

As of October 4, 2026, Xbox’s new monthly cloud-hour limits were announced but had not yet begun. Xbox Wire editor-in-chief Joe Skrebels announced on September 3, 2026: “Beginning in November, we’re changing how cloud gaming is included with XBOX Game Pass.” The announcement set monthly allowances at 15 hours for Ultimate, 10 for Premium, and 5 for Essential starting in November 2026. Xbox said details about purchasing more hours, pricing, eligible games, and market availability would follow in November. Read the Xbox Wire announcement.

Xbox’s plan comparison also describes support across Xbox consoles and Windows PC, cloud gaming subject to device, region, library, and plan terms, and EA Play and Ubisoft+ Classics in applicable plans. Its day-one claim has exclusions for select titles, so it should not be read as a promise that every new game or major release is included. Check Xbox’s plan comparison.

A practical checklist before subscribing
- Choose your device first. Confirm that the service supports your console or PC and that the features you want work on it.
- Search for specific games. Use the official live catalog or compatibility page; do not choose based only on a headline game count.
- Understand what access means. A rotating subscription catalog, a publisher-specific library, and cloud streaming of eligible games you already own are different offers.
- Check cloud requirements. For Premium, Sony lists 5 Mbps as the minimum connection speed and 15 Mbps for 1080p; supported titles, territories, and devices still matter. For GeForce NOW, confirm both game support and its storefront requirement.
- Compare your local total. Check the current country-specific price, billing interval, promotion, taxes, and renewal terms before committing.
