There is no single best WordPress theme for every affiliate site. Astra is a strong starting point for template-led sites and Elementor workflows; GeneratePress suits publishers who want a lean, modular foundation; Kadence is a natural option for a Gutenberg-centered build. For coupon, deal, or product-comparison directories, consider a specialist such as REHub—but verify its current features and compatibility before choosing it.
A theme shapes how a site looks and how its content is organized. It does not guarantee affiliate earnings, search visibility, or fast page loads. Those outcomes depend on the whole site, including hosting, images, caching, plugins, and how pages are built.
Choose by the kind of affiliate site you are building
Start with the publishing format, not a theme’s marketing claims. Editorial sites that publish reviews and buying guides have different needs from coupon directories or sites built around product comparisons and deals.
- Editorial reviews and guides: Prioritize readable article layouts, reusable review components, and a setup that fits your editor or page builder. You may add comparison tables or calls to action with blocks or plugins.
- Comparison or deal directory: Check whether the theme supports the structured listings, filters, product data, and directory layouts you need. A general-purpose theme may require additional plugins or custom work.
- Any format: Consider the number of sites covered by a paid license, included updates and support, and the actual performance of your complete site. No controlled performance or conversion test is available for the candidates below.
Best-fit WordPress themes for affiliate marketing
Astra: best for template-led builds and Elementor users
Astra is a practical shortlist leader if you want a broad starter-template library or plan to build with Elementor. Astra’s own comparison pages describe it as more aligned with Elementor workflows and say its ecosystem offers 400+ starter templates. Those are vendor-published claims, not independently audited counts or comparative tests. See Astra’s comparison with GeneratePress and its comparison with Kadence.
#1 Best Overall
The same Astra-authored comparisons describe the free tier as a fuller starting point than GeneratePress’s intentionally minimal free theme. If a starter design saves you setup time, that may matter more than a long feature list—but inspect the specific template and its dependencies before committing.
GeneratePress: best for a lean editorial foundation
GeneratePress is worth comparing if you prefer a minimal base and want control over what you add. Astra’s July 29, 2026 comparison describes the free version as intentionally minimal and says access to the site library is paid. It lists 80+ starter sites, also a vendor-reported figure rather than an independently checked count.
Rank #2
That same comparison lists GeneratePress Premium at $59 per year for 500 sites and GeneratePress One at $149 per year. It lists Astra Pro at $69 per year for three sites. These are dated prices and license details published by Astra, not guaranteed checkout terms; confirm current pricing and inclusions with the vendors before buying.
Kadence: best for a Gutenberg-centered workflow
Kadence is a plausible choice if you prefer WordPress’s native block editor and want to stay within the Kadence design ecosystem. Astra’s June 24, 2026 comparison characterizes Kadence as designed around Gutenberg, while describing Astra as the more natural fit for Elementor. Treat that distinction as the vendors’ product positioning, not a hands-on workflow test.
Rank #3
Kadence’s live pricing page listed Essentials at $99 per year, Pro at $299 per year, and Elite at $499 per year when observed on September 30, 2026. The page describes Pro as including Shop Kit for WooCommerce. Check the current Kadence pricing and plan details before purchasing: plan packaging, site limits, and features can change.
REHub: investigate for coupon and comparison directories
REHub appears in current 2026 roundup results as a candidate for coupon, comparison, and deal sites. That makes it worth investigating when your site depends on directory-style pages rather than primarily editorial articles. Available product details do not support a confident feature-by-feature comparison here, so check its current listing, documentation, license, and compatibility with your required plugins and WordPress setup before deciding.
Compare the practical trade-offs
| Theme | Consider it if | Evidence and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Astra | You want starter templates or expect to use Elementor. | Astra’s comparison articles cite 400+ starter templates and describe its free tier as broader than GeneratePress’s. Vendor claims, not independent testing. |
| GeneratePress | You want a minimal foundation for an editorial site or manage multiple sites. | Astra’s July 29, 2026 comparison lists 80+ starter sites, Premium at $59/year for 500 sites, and One at $149/year. Verify current terms with GeneratePress. |
| Kadence | You prefer a Gutenberg-centered build and Kadence’s design tools. | Kadence’s pricing page listed Essentials at $99/year, Pro at $299/year, and Elite at $499/year on September 30, 2026; its page describes Shop Kit as part of Pro. Verify current plan details. |
| REHub | Your core format is a coupon, deal, or comparison directory. | Current roundups position it for these formats, but sufficiently clear product details were not established for a reliable feature or license comparison. Verify with the vendor. |
Make the decision without overbuying
- Sketch one representative page. Decide whether it is a review, a comparison, a coupon listing, or a deal directory. Note the elements it needs, such as a verdict, product details, calls to action, or filters.
- Match the build workflow. Shortlist Astra if templates or Elementor fit your process, GeneratePress if you want a minimal base, and Kadence if you prefer Gutenberg. For directory-heavy sites, investigate whether REHub currently supports your specific requirements.
- Check what is included. Compare the features you will actually use, site limits, template access, support, and updates. A low entry price may not cover the tools or number of sites you need.
- Build and assess a real page. Test the theme with your intended content, images, plugins, and hosting. A theme name alone cannot establish how fast your finished site will load or how well readers will use it.
- Recheck terms before checkout. Pricing and packaging cited here are time- and source-specific. Confirm current costs, license limits, included features, and compatibility on the relevant product page.
What a theme can—and cannot—do for affiliate marketing
A theme can provide the visual framework and page structures for publishing reviews, comparison content, or deal listings. It cannot by itself make a recommendation trustworthy, produce search traffic, or ensure conversions. Plan for clear, useful content and test your actual pages rather than treating vendor claims about speed or superiority as performance evidence.
If you plan to promote Astra itself, its official affiliate page advertised a 30% commission and a 60-day tracking cookie when observed on September 30, 2026. These terms may change; check the Astra affiliate program page. Applicants must apply and be approved before affiliate links are available; see Astra’s application instructions.
