Start with the official WooCommerce POS if your country, tablet, and payment setup qualify; otherwise compare FooSales, Oliver POS, and Webkul against your specific workflow. There is no evidence here for a universal winner, and vendor feature descriptions are claims rather than independent performance tests.
How to choose a POS for WooCommerce
A POS should let you take in-person orders without creating a separate inventory and order record that must be reconciled later. Before choosing a plugin, check these points against your actual shop setup:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Country and payments: Confirm that the product and its card-processing option are available where your store operates.
- Store connection: Find out how products, stock, customers, orders, and refunds move between the POS and WooCommerce.
- Offline behavior: Separate capturing a sale from authorizing a card payment. Ask what payment methods remain usable without internet and how queued sales sync or conflicts are handled.
- Devices and peripherals: Verify the exact tablet operating system, reader model, printer, drawer, and scanner—not just the device category.
- Real cost: Include recurring or per-store fees, per-reader charges, processing fees, required plan upgrades, extensions, and hardware.
- Store model: Check whether you need multiple outlets, cashier controls, events, or a single register.
WooCommerce POS options compared
| Option | What makes it worth assessing | Important checks |
|---|---|---|
| Official WooCommerce POS | POS workflow through the WooCommerce Mobile App, with products and orders in the WooCommerce dashboard. | Eligible country and currency, supported tablet and app versions, WooPayments or Stripe, and compatible reader. |
| FooSales | Web, iPad, and Android access; WooCommerce-linked sales; optional Square or Stripe integrations. | Core versus Plus needs, per-store annual billing, exact reader and app compatibility, and limited offline use. |
| Oliver POS | Vendor-described offline catalog caching and queued sales, multi-outlet stock, and support for several device and peripheral categories. | Payment processor and region, plan requirements, precise device and hardware models, and offline authorization and reconciliation. |
| Webkul WooCommerce POS | Vendor-described outlet and cashier controls, offline sales, and a listed one-time plugin purchase. | Version compatibility, what the displayed price includes, payment and terminal setup, offline behavior, support, and hardware models. |
These products use different technical approaches: WooCommerce’s option runs through its mobile app; FooSales offers a web app and tablet apps; Oliver POS describes browser and mobile apps; and Webkul describes a progressive web app. Confirm where checkout happens and how data syncs before treating them as interchangeable.
Official WooCommerce POS: start with eligibility
WooCommerce lists availability in Australia, Canada, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The store address and currency must match an eligible region. The software is included with the WooCommerce Mobile App; WooCommerce lists a $5 monthly fee per active card reader, plus standard WooPayments or Stripe transaction processing fees. Check the official WooCommerce POS page for current availability and fees.

The stated requirements are WooCommerce 9.6 or later, Woo Mobile App 21.8 or later, WooPayments or Stripe, and an iOS 17+ or Android 9+ tablet. Phone use is not supported. The official page lists Bluetooth HID barcode scanner support but says camera barcode scanning is not currently supported. Card transactions require WooPayments or Stripe; confirm reader availability for your country and account before buying hardware.
FooSales: compare plan and app access
FooSales currently lists Core at US$19 per month and Plus at US$38 per month, billed annually per store, with a seven-day trial. Its plan features include barcode scanning, product variations, tax integration, inventory management, refunds, discounts, receipts, and printer/cash-drawer integration. Plus includes Square and Stripe payment integrations and listed integrations such as WooCommerce Product Add-ons and FooEvents; those extensions are sold separately. See the FooSales pricing page for current plan details.
There is an important access distinction: the FooSales extension in the WooCommerce Marketplace is a standalone web app, while tablet app access is sold through FooSales.com plans. Integrated Square and Stripe payments require Plus, and some reader models work only with tablet apps. FooSales says Square hardware can be bought from Square or retailers such as Amazon in supported countries; Stripe readers are limited to selected countries and must be ordered through Stripe. Consult its documentation for the specific reader and platform.
The WordPress.org listing for FooSales version 1.42.6, dated August 12, 2026, describes offline mode as limited: cash or manual card payments can continue during internet disruptions, with later sync. That does not establish that integrated card payments can be authorized offline. Treat those as distinct requirements when evaluating the checkout.

Oliver POS: investigate offline queueing and outlets
Oliver POS says it synchronizes products, customers, stock, orders, and refunds in two directions in real time. It also describes catalog caching and queued sales when offline, use in browser and iOS or Android apps, and a dedicated terminal. Its published device guidance says iOS 14+ and Android 10+ for phones and tablets; desktop apps are described as coming soon. These are vendor statements, so verify current support and fit for your devices.
The product page says Basic starts at $49 per year, annual plans include a seven-day trial, and a Basic plan can be used indefinitely on one register. Oliver lists Bluetooth or Ethernet thermal printers from Star, Epson, and Bixolon; wired or wireless 1D/2D scanners; and standard cash drawers driven by a receipt printer. Check the Oliver POS product information and its linked hardware list for exact models. Its offline sales queue does not, by itself, establish that card payments can be authorized without a connection; ask how payment and reconciliation work for your processor.
Webkul WooCommerce POS: check the purchase and setup details
Webkul’s listing displayed a $59 sale price against a $99 regular price, plugin version 7.2.0, and a last-updated date of September 21, 2026. The sale price is promotional, not a recurring-price comparison. The listing describes offline mode, multiple outlets, scanner, printer, and cash-drawer compatibility, and support for current WooCommerce and WordPress versions. These are vendor claims, not independent verification.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Offline POS: what to verify before relying on it
“Offline” can mean that a POS keeps a product catalog available, stores a sale for later sync, or actually authorizes a payment without internet. Those are different capabilities. The reviewed WooCommerce page does not establish offline checkout. FooSales’ directory description is limited to cash or manual card payments during disruptions, while Oliver POS describes cached catalog data and queued sales and Webkul advertises offline sales. None of those descriptions alone confirms integrated card authorization offline or explains conflict resolution.
- Ask which payment methods can complete a sale with no connection, and whether a card is authorized at that moment or processed later.
- Find out how queued orders, inventory changes, refunds, and duplicate or conflicting records are handled after reconnection.
- Test the intended workflow with the exact payment provider, device, and network conditions before using it for a busy event or store shift.
Choosing a barcode scanner or receipt printer
Buy peripherals only after confirming compatibility with the POS, device, and connection method. WooCommerce POS lists Bluetooth HID scanners and does not currently support camera scanning. Oliver lists Bluetooth scanners and thermal printers, but exact model support should be checked in its hardware list. FooSales notes that some card readers are app-specific. A Bluetooth barcode scanner or thermal receipt printer is therefore a useful category to compare—not a basis for assuming any particular model will work.
Which WooCommerce POS fits your workflow?
- Choose the official option for closer review if your store is in an eligible country, uses WooPayments or Stripe, and your tablet meets the stated requirements.
- Assess FooSales if web and tablet access or Square/Stripe integrations matter, while checking whether Plus, a separate extension, or a particular app is needed.
- Assess Oliver POS if its stated outlet, queued-sale, and peripheral features align with your needs; verify processor, region, and offline payment behavior.
- Assess Webkul if its outlet controls, advertised offline sales, or one-time purchase structure suit your model; verify the sale terms, compatibility, and payment setup first.
YITH, wePOS, WCPOS, and OpenPOS are not compared here because the available current first-party information did not establish enough consistent detail on pricing, geography, devices, payment support, and offline behavior to compare them fairly. That is not evidence that they are inferior. No product in this comparison has been independently benchmarked or hands-on tested.
