For a full-page webpage image, start with Microsoft Edge’s Screenshot feature. To save a webpage as a paginated PDF, use the browser’s print dialog and choose a PDF destination. If you need to capture long content inside another Windows app, PicPick documents a scrolling-window mode; Snagit adds vertical and horizontal scrolling capture and annotation. ShareX is another option, but its guide warns that stitching can be partial or fail, so inspect the result.
These recommendations reflect documented features, not comparative testing. The right choice depends on whether you need one tall image, a printable document, or a capture of content outside a browser.

Choose a screenshot or a PDF first
A full-page screenshot puts a long webpage into one image. It is useful when the page’s visual appearance matters or you want a single image to share. A PDF is a document-style output that can be paginated and printed; its layout may differ from what you see on screen, so preview the pages and adjust print settings.

Capture long content beyond the browser
PicPick for scrolling windows
PicPick lists a Scrolling Window mode for content that extends past the visible screen, including webpages, documents, lists, and panels. You can send the capture to the editor, auto-save it, copy it to the clipboard, or send it to an external program. Its capture help describes the available modes and output choices; it does not establish comparative reliability or current licensing terms.

Snagit for scrolling and wide content
TechSmith documents vertical scrolling capture for websites and horizontal scrolling capture for wide material such as spreadsheets. It also describes annotation and PDF among the export options. ShareX’s workflow is to choose Capture > Scrolling capture, select a region, and let the tool scroll and stitch successive screenshots. Its guide distinguishes a successful result from a partially successful capture, where matching is imperfect, and a failed stitch that ends capture. Inspect the completed image for seams or missing content; the guide does not state how often these outcomes occur. See the ShareX scrolling screenshot guide.

When the built-in Snipping Tool is enough
Windows Snipping Tool is suited to visible-screen captures rather than a full-page scrolling image, based on the modes documented in Microsoft’s support page. It offers freeform, rectangular, window, and full-screen captures, along with annotation, cropping, text extraction with OCR, saving, and sharing.
Press Windows+Shift+S to open the capture overlay. Microsoft says captured images are saved automatically to the Screenshots folder; use Save As when you want an additional copy. The cited support page does not document a scrolling-page mode. See Microsoft’s Snipping Tool instructions.
Quick Recap
Best Value
Rank #4
- Transform audio playing via your speakers and headphones
- Improve sound quality by adjusting it with effects
- Take control over the sound playing through audio hardware
Check the result before sharing
- For a tall image, scan the whole capture for missing sections, repeated content, or stitching seams—especially with a tool that scrolls and combines screenshots.
- For a PDF, inspect page breaks and the print preview; change margins or background-graphics settings if the layout is not useful.
- If the page contains content that appears only after scrolling or loading, confirm it is present in the final image or PDF before relying on the capture.
