Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteFor most Firefox users, you do not need an extension. Open the page, choose Menu → Print, select Save to PDF, adjust the print preview, and save. Firefox already handles page ranges, orientation, margins, scale, backgrounds and, where a page supports it, a Simplified format. Install an add-on only when a toolbar button, shortcut or service workflow solves a problem the native dialog does not.
The best choice depends on whether you want local conversion, one-click convenience, login-page support and how much third-party access you accept. This guide compares the practical options without treating store ratings or user counts as proof of PDF quality.
Firefox’s built-in converter is the sensible starting point
Mozilla’s documented workflow is the most direct way to turn a webpage into a PDF: open the page, open the Firefox application menu, select Print, configure the preview, choose Save to PDF as the destination, and save the file. The current Firefox Help instructions also expose page range, orientation, margins, scale, background graphics and other print controls; Simplified format appears only when Firefox can provide it for that page. See Mozilla’s Firefox printing guide for the labels in your edition.
- Load the page and wait for its text and images to finish rendering.
- Choose Menu → Print (or the operating system’s print shortcut).
- In print preview, select the Save to PDF destination.
- Set the page range, orientation, paper size, margins, scale and background graphics. Use Simplified when it is offered and you want a reading-focused layout.
- Preview several pages, then select Save and choose a filename.
A PDF is a print rendering, not a pixel-for-pixel copy of the browser tab. Responsive layouts can reflow, sticky elements can repeat or disappear, and content that loads only after interaction may not be present. If visual fidelity matters, inspect the preview at the beginning, middle and end of a long document before saving.

The add-ons below differ mainly in conversion path and convenience. The listings provide feature and date information, but no independent, named comparison measured fidelity, speed, accessibility, long-page handling or image quality. Treat each as a workflow choice, not as a laboratory ranking.
#1 Best Overall
- Convert your PDF files into Word, Excel & Co. the easy way
- Convert scanned documents thanks to our new 2022 OCR technology
- Adjustable conversion settings
- No subscription! Lifetime license!
- Compatible with Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 7 - Internet connection required
| Option | How conversion works | Useful convenience | Limits and checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firefox Print → Save to PDF | Native Firefox print preview and local save | Page range, orientation, margins, scale, backgrounds and conditional Simplified format | Printed layout can differ from the live page; controls vary slightly by Firefox and operating system |
| Print PDF by Senthil Ponnusamy | The listing says it uses Firefox’s built-in converter | Toolbar action, keyboard shortcut and settings for margins, headers/footers, backgrounds and long-page handling | Listing shows version 2.0, last updated February 16, 2023; inspect current compatibility, permissions and update date before installing |
| Save as PDF by PDFCrowd | An online HTML-to-PDF service operated by PDFCrowd | Toolbar button for sending the current page to the service | The listing says login-required pages cannot be converted; it requests access to data for pdfcrowd.com, so review data handling before use |
| Print to PDF by moris | One-click print-oriented add-on | Toolbar button and right-click context-menu action with print settings | Listing reports version 2.0, last updated February 16, 2023, and a Firefox 56-and-later requirement; that old floor does not prove current maintenance. The listing identifies MPL 2.0 licensing |
Best default: native Print → Save to PDF
Choose the built-in dialog when the page is public and you need ordinary print controls without granting an extension extra access. It is also the least complicated option to troubleshoot because there is no separate add-on or conversion account in the path.
Best shortcut candidate: Print PDF
If repeatedly opening print preview is the inconvenience, Print PDF is the clearest shortcut-oriented candidate because its listing describes a toolbar button, configurable keyboard shortcut and Firefox’s own converter. The listing date is old enough that you should open the current add-on page, check the supported Firefox versions and permissions, and confirm that its behavior still matches your needs.
When PDFCrowd’s service makes sense
PDFCrowd’s Save as PDF is appropriate only when you are comfortable sending the page to an online HTML-to-PDF service. Its listing explicitly excludes pages that require a login, so it is not a solution for private dashboards, subscriber articles or any page whose content is available only after authentication. The requested pdfcrowd.com data access is another reason to read the listing and the service’s current privacy information before installing.

Where Print to PDF by moris fits
The moris add-on can be convenient if a context-menu command is important. Its listing says Firefox 56 or newer is required and describes toolbar and right-click actions. Because the surfaced listing date is February 16, 2023, verify present-day compatibility rather than assuming that the minimum version or old update date represents active development.

How to get a cleaner PDF from any Firefox method
Prepare the page before opening Print
- Wait for lazy images, charts and embedded fonts to finish loading.
- Expand accordions, tabs and “show more” controls whose contents must appear in the PDF.
- Close menus, tooltips and transient dialogs.
- For a long article, scroll through it once so deferred content has a chance to load, then reopen print preview.
Choose print settings deliberately
- Use portrait for text-heavy pages and landscape for wide tables or application screens.
- Enable background graphics when color blocks, diagrams or dark headers carry meaning; disable them when you need a lighter document.
- Reduce scale or margins only after checking that body text remains readable.
- Use a page range to omit navigation, comments or legal boilerplate that you do not need.
- Try Simplified format when Firefox offers it and the page’s normal layout contains distracting navigation.
Validate the saved file
Open the PDF in a viewer and check text selection, links, headings, images and the last page. If the browser view contains a login wall, bot check or blank frame, printing will not magically recover the missing content.
Privacy and access: local versus online conversion
The native Firefox workflow and add-ons that state they use Firefox’s converter keep the conversion in the browser’s print path. PDFCrowd’s listing says its add-on invokes an online service and cannot process login-required pages. That distinction matters for internal documents, personal data and pages protected by an account. Before installing any extension, inspect its current Mozilla Add-ons permissions, update date and developer information; an old listing date is a reason to verify, not proof that an add-on is unsafe or unusable.
Automation for developers
Firefox exposes a WebExtensions API named tabs.saveAsPDF(). It is intended for extension code and saves a tab as a PDF rather than providing a general command-line converter. Read the MDN API reference for the permission and browser-context details applicable to your extension version. A normal webpage script cannot simply call privileged extension APIs without an extension context.
Troubleshooting common failures
The Save to PDF destination is missing
Open the full Firefox print preview rather than a website’s custom print button, and check the destination or printer selector. If the operating system’s print dialog appears instead, select its PDF output option. Update Firefox through your normal supported channel before adding another extension.

- PDF Merge
- Covert jpg to pdf
- Covert word to pdf files
- Convert pdf to images
- Rotate pdf pages
The PDF is missing images or appears blank
Return to the page, wait for network activity and lazy images to settle, and reload if necessary. Some content is generated only after scrolling or interaction. A blank page, a bot challenge or a failed load is a page-state problem, not something an add-on can reliably repair.
Background colors or headers do not appear
Enable background graphics in print settings. For headers, footers and margins, compare the preview after changing each setting; different sites use print-specific CSS that can intentionally hide screen-only elements.
The layout breaks across pages
Try portrait versus landscape, a slightly smaller scale, or narrower margins. Tables and wide application panels often need landscape orientation. If the page is designed as an interactive application rather than a document, export its own report function when available.
An extension does not work after installation
Check the add-on’s current listing for supported Firefox versions, permissions and its latest update. The Print PDF and moris listings surfaced here show February 16, 2023 update dates, so do not infer present compatibility from their historical version numbers. Disable other print-related add-ons temporarily to identify shortcut or context-menu conflicts.

PDFCrowd refuses the page
That behavior is expected for a page requiring a login according to the PDFCrowd listing. Use Firefox’s local print workflow for content you can view in your authenticated session, subject to your organization’s policy and the site’s terms.

If your real goal is a repeatable screenshot or PDF from a URL, ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. One GET request can return PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF output, without maintaining a Firefox profile or extension.
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for the available options. The same endpoint supports full-page captures, lazy-image loading, CSS-selector element captures, device and viewport settings, retina scale, PDF paper and margin controls, custom CSS and JavaScript, click-before-capture actions, waits, request blocking, cookies, headers, user-agent, timezone, geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, caching, signed links, asynchronous jobs, bulk capture, usage data and an OpenAPI specification. Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work, which can simplify migration.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com/article -o shot.webp
Python
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://example.com/article"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://example.com/article' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and whether the request was billed (X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed). Its MCP server includes take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients.
The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots; yearly billing gives two months free, and every feature is available on every plan. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account to try it without a card.

FAQ
Is a Firefox add-on required to create an Adobe PDF?
No. Firefox’s Save to PDF output is a standard PDF file; “Adobe PDF” is commonly used as a product name, not a requirement for creating or reading the format.
Can a normal website call Firefox’s PDF-saving API?
Not directly. tabs.saveAsPDF() is a WebExtensions API documented for extension contexts. A site script needs an extension or another authorized automation environment to use it.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Should I trust an old add-on listing date as a compatibility guarantee?
No. A historical update date tells you when that listed version was published, not whether it is maintained today. Check the live Mozilla Add-ons page, permissions and your current Firefox version before relying on the extension.
