Use a video rotator in the encoder or cloud service that sends your live feed to YouTube. YouTube’s playlist-loop button repeats playback for a viewer; it does not create the continuous live feed an encoder sends. For a 24/7 prerecorded-video stream, the rotation must happen in the feed-producing setup.
Why a YouTube playlist loop is not enough
YouTube’s loop control applies to playback of a video or playlist in the player. A live stream is different: an encoder sends a continuous video feed to YouTube, and the encoder or streaming service must generate that feed. YouTube describes an encoder as converting video into a digital format to stream on YouTube. YouTube’s encoder setup guide and playlist playback help cover these separate functions.
Choose where the video rotation runs
Cloud service
A cloud service can run the prerecorded-video feed without requiring your own computer to stay on. YouTube names Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded video in its encoder guide. Another cloud option is StreamNeo, which plays uploaded videos to YouTube from the cloud. Before choosing any service, check how it handles playlist order, scheduling, recovery if YouTube disconnects, stream monitoring, storage, and long-run archives; YouTube’s guide does not establish those details for individual providers.
Local software or hardware encoder
YouTube supports software and standalone hardware encoders. With a local setup, the encoder or associated software must assemble the rotation and keep sending the feed; a computer or device that powers down, loses its connection, or stops encoding interrupts the stream. YouTube’s material identifies encoder categories but does not compare products or confirm that a particular hardware encoder can rotate files by itself. Verify playlist and recovery functions with the product maker.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set up the YouTube feed
- Create or select a stream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your channel.
- Configure the encoder or cloud service. Enter YouTube’s stream URL and key in its destination settings, then select the files or playlist and rotation behavior in the feed-producing tool. Exact playlist, scheduling, and file-ingest controls vary by service; YouTube’s setup guide does not specify a universal rotator interface.
- Set output to match your intended format and connection. YouTube recommends RTMPS and lists H.264, H.265 (HEVC), or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate (CBR); and a two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds for its RTMP/RTMPS guidance. Bitrate recommendations depend on resolution, frame rate, and codec, so use the applicable row in YouTube’s encoder settings table rather than treating one bitrate as universal. For example, its H.264 recommendations include 5 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 6 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps; these are configuration recommendations, not a guarantee your connection can sustain them.
- Test before relying on the rotation. Use representative video movement and audio, start the feed, and confirm that the incoming preview appears in Live Control Room. Check stream health and listen for audio problems before treating the setup as ready. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring in its encoder setup guidance.
- Plan for archive needs. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its cited guidance does not promise the same automatic archive behavior for a stream longer than 12 hours, so arrange another recording or archive plan if you need a copy of a longer run. See YouTube’s live-stream guide.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It streams the files as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required; one free day is available per account. The Monthly plan is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
Problems to check if the stream does not work
- No incoming preview: Check that the encoder has the correct YouTube stream URL and key, that it is connected to the intended stream, and that it is actively sending.
- Unstable stream or poor playback: Confirm the output bitrate suits your resolution, frame rate, and connection; use CBR and the recommended keyframe interval. Check YouTube’s stream-health indicators and test with representative content.
- Rotation does not advance: The YouTube player’s loop feature is not the feed rotator. Check the playlist or rotation settings in the encoder or cloud service that is producing the live feed.
- Stream stops when you leave: A local workflow depends on the encoder device and its connection continuing to run. Check power, sleep settings, network stability, and the encoder’s reconnect behavior; alternatively, use a cloud workflow.
- No automatic archive after a long run: YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, not longer runs. Use a separate recording or archive arrangement when the stream may exceed that threshold.
Copyright and channel-policy checks
Only stream video and audio you have the rights to use, including music and other embedded material. A stream that rotates legally usable files still has to comply with YouTube’s applicable copyright and channel policies. Check the relevant policies in YouTube Help before scheduling content; the encoder setup material does not establish that any particular file is cleared for streaming.
