Loop one local video
- Install and open OBS Studio on the desktop that will run the stream. In a scene, use the Sources panel’s + control and add a Media Source.
- In the Media Source properties, select the local video file. Enable Loop. OBS documents that the file starts again after playback completes. The relevant source controls and setup are in the OBS Media Sources guide.
- Check the OBS preview to confirm the intended video is visible and plays. Keep the desktop and its internet connection available while you stream; this method is being run by your computer, not by a cloud service.
Loop a playlist of clips
- Add a VLC Video source in OBS and create or select the playlist of clips you want to play.
- Use the source’s playlist loop control. OBS documents Loop Playlist as enabled by default for the VLC Video source.
- Install VLC on the computer: OBS states that VLC is required for the VLC Video source. Confirm the playlist runs in the preview before starting YouTube Live.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a YouTube Live server URL and stream key configured in the encoder. Create the stream through YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, then enter the connection details in the streaming software. Follow YouTube’s current instructions in its live encoder setup guide for the applicable account and stream workflow.
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or select the stream you intend to broadcast.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream into the corresponding encoder settings in OBS.
- Start the OBS stream and check the Live Control Room to confirm YouTube receives it. Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your channel.
The supplied official materials do not specify a universal resolution, bitrate or keyframe interval for this use case. Use YouTube’s current encoder guidance and the capabilities of your upload connection rather than treating a single setting as appropriate for every channel and network.

PRISM Live Studio
YouTube lists PRISM Live Studio among mobile encoder options. The video stops at the end
- For a single OBS Media Source, open its properties and verify Loop is enabled.
- For a multi-clip VLC Video source, verify Loop Playlist is enabled and that the playlist itself contains the intended files.
The VLC Video source is unavailable or does not play
- Confirm VLC is installed on the same computer as OBS; OBS lists VLC as a requirement for this source.
- Recheck the playlist and source in the OBS preview before going live.
YouTube does not receive the stream
- Check that the server URL and stream key in OBS match the stream selected in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
- If the key may have been exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder configuration.
- Confirm the streaming computer and internet connection remain available for the duration of a desktop-run broadcast.
A phone app streams camera or screen but not the saved video
The cited app descriptions establish camera, screen or production workflows, not local-file loop output. Check the current app’s source options and test an entire playback cycle before relying on it for a continuous broadcast.
