Start with Normal Golf Game’s default Steam Deck settings. It is officially Steam Deck Verified, and the developer’s fallback advice for slower computers is to set the game to 1080p and low grass density. Try those two changes only if performance is unsatisfactory; available sources do not establish a single optimal preset or a target frame rate.
Recommended Normal Golf settings on Steam Deck
- Begin with the default configuration. Steam marks Normal Golf Game as Verified, Valve’s label for games expected to work well on Steam Deck out of the box. If the game runs acceptably for you, the available guidance gives no reason to change settings preemptively.
- If performance is unsatisfactory, lower the resolution to 1080p and set grass density to Low. The developer’s Steam listing says these changes make a big difference for slow computers; Steam Support repeats the advice. Treat them as a fallback to try, not as a tested Deck-specific preset.
- Check the result in your own play session. Keep the changes that improve your experience without making the image quality unacceptable to you. The sources do not specify additional in-game values or a particular Deck model to target.
What the Steam Deck Verified label tells you
Steam’s Verified status is the strongest official compatibility signal available for this game: Valve describes the category as working great on Steam Deck right out of the box. It is compatibility guidance, not a game-specific performance test, so it does not promise a particular frame rate, battery life, or result across every Deck model. Steam also lists full controller support.
Why 1080p and low grass density are the fallback
The recommendation comes from developer Luke Muscat’s note on the Steam listing: “Runs great on the Steam Deck and most entry level desktops. Setting the game to 1080p and low grass density makes a big difference for slow computers.” The advice names those two settings but does not supply further graphics-menu values or quantified results. Because the note refers broadly to slow computers, it should not be read as evidence that every Steam Deck needs the reductions.
What is—and is not—known about performance
SteamDB records SteamOS success, Proton stable, and a compatibility test timestamp of September 8, 2026, but that secondary compatibility information is not a benchmark. The available sources do not establish measured FPS, battery estimates, model-by-model performance, or a tested configuration that is best for every player.
