The right short microphone stand depends on where the mic needs to sit: choose the K&M 25950 for a very low floor position, the K&M 25995 for a compact freestanding tabletop or amp setup, or a Gator SH-BROADCAST arm when you want to mount the mic to a desk. “Short” describes several different stand designs, so compare height, reach, mounting style, load rating and thread fit—not just the product name.
Which type of short microphone stand fits your setup?
A floor boom, a flat-base tabletop stand and a clamp-on desk arm solve different placement problems. Match the stand to the surface and position you need before comparing individual models.

For a freestanding table or amp: K&M 25995
The K&M 25995 is a short, flat-base table/floor stand rather than a clamp arm. K&M’s US data sheet gives a height range of 11.22 to 15.75 inches and a 12.20-inch boom. Its 7.87-by-7.87-inch base is a flat steel plate with four elastic rubber feet; the stand is steel and has a 5/8-inch threaded connector. K&M lists broadcast or conference tables and amplifier use as applications. Measure the available surface and the microphone’s required position: the stand needs room for its base, and its short boom limits horizontal reach. K&M 25995 product data

Alternative desk arm: Gator SH-BROADCAST1
The SH-BROADCAST1 is a separate model, not another name for the SH-BROADCAST2. Shure lists a clamp for surfaces up to 2.17 inches (55 mm), 360-degree arm rotation and extension up to 32.25 inches (940 mm). Its threaded extension adapter is identified for the SM7B, SM7dB, MV7, MV7+ and MV7X. The microphone is sold separately. The cited SH-BROADCAST1 page does not provide the same 2 kg load rating or direct-drill mount detail listed for the SH-BROADCAST2, so do not assume those specifications carry over. 1. Measure height and reach
Measure from the floor or desktop to the desired microphone position, then check both the stand’s height range and horizontal reach. For a drum or cabinet, a low stand may still fall short if the boom cannot reach around the instrument. The published ranges for the K&M 25950 and 25995 and maximum extensions for the Gator arms describe different dimensions; compare them against your actual setup rather than treating them as directly interchangeable.

2. Decide whether it should attach to furniture
A clamp arm needs a suitable desk edge and room for its clamp; the SH-BROADCAST2 also offers direct-drill mounting. A flat-base or folding-leg stand can be repositioned without attaching to a desk, but needs clear surface or floor space. Consider whether a permanent drilled mount is acceptable before selecting that option.
3. Check stability and microphone load
Compare the microphone’s weight with a published capacity where one is available, and consider how far the boom will extend. A long extension shifts the stand’s center of gravity and can affect stability; MusicRadar’s general guide explains this relationship. Do not infer a safe load rating for a product whose cited specifications do not state one. MusicRadar’s microphone-stand buying guide

- [Sturdy Metal] The all metal microphone arm stand provides stability and sturdy protection for your podcast microphone whether you're gaming, podcasting, recording or streaming. The C-clamp can stay attached to a flat desktop and will not slip, making it less likely to scratch your desktop. Even if you vigorously collide with the arm stand or extend it fully to a certain height, the boom arm won't wobble and still remain stable and sturdy. (The microphone is not included)
- [Low Profile] The arm stand for gaming can extend from the bottom of your computer screen. The podcast mic stand gives more space in a unobstructing view while in an intense game. The low profile arm stand for mic can be set to extend under the bottom of the screen without interfering the screen or desktop space, which will not obstruct monitor view even fully extended.
- [Cable Management] The low profile microphone boom stand is equipped with cable managements in hiddenness to organize your microphone cables. Neat arrangement of cable will not cause excessive pulling or resulting in unexpected use, keeping your streaming setup cleaner.
- [Fully Adjustment] Suspension arm stand recording can be extended to 29 inches, suitable for your long large office desktop. The boom arm for microphone can be adjusted up to down by 220 degrees, and horizontally by 360 degrees. More angle adjustments provide more usage options. Tips:The section which near the C-clamp can not be adjusted up to down.
- [Screw Adapter] Coming with three kinds of threads size, 1/4'', 3/8'', 5/8'' that are compatible with most brands of microphones, the microphone boom arm solves the hassle of choosing additional adapters, which give a straightforward but not difficult assembly. You can easily figure out and quickly install and use microphones, shock mounts, etc with the mic stand in gaming, vocal recording, video creation.
4. Confirm the thread and microphone fit
The cited K&M stands have different connectors: the 25950 lists 3/8 inch, while the 25995 lists 5/8 inch. Check the matching clip or adapter as well as the microphone’s mounting thread. Shure names specific compatible model families for the Gator arms, but that does not establish compatibility with every microphone.

5. Plan cable clearance and verify what is included
Shure documents cable channels on both Gator arms. The SH-BROADCAST2 page also lists a three-inch extender for SM7B/SM7dB microphones. Check the listing for the exact product and region to establish included accessories; do not assume a microphone or clip comes with the stand.

Not every compact-looking floor stand is a low stand. K&M’s 26020, for comparison, has a listed height range of 860–1,550 mm, a 425–725 mm telescoping boom, a heavy round cast-iron base with an anti-vibration rubber insert, a 3/8-inch connector and a weight of 5.87 kg. It is a substantially taller floor-boom option, not a substitute for an extra-low kick-drum stand. K&M 26020 specifications
