Choose ChatGPT Space for shared pages and files, Slack for agents in channel conversations, Microsoft Copilot Studio for managed agent creation and publishing, or Gemini Enterprise for Google-centered workflows. Before sharing any agent, check who can use it, who can change it, and what data it can reach.

These are feature-fit recommendations based on vendor documentation, not a hands-on test or a measured ranking. The cited product materials do not establish comparable prices or independent head-to-head results for productivity, accuracy, or value.
Which workspace should your team choose?
Choose ChatGPT Space for shared pages and files
ChatGPT Space is the closest fit when the work itself lives in shared, editable pages and files, and the team wants ChatGPT, Codex, or a dot to work with common context. OpenAI lists Space for Pro, Business, and Enterprise. Editing and collaboration are available on web and desktop; mobile supports finding, reading, and sharing. OpenAI describes collaborative slides and spreadsheets as forthcoming, so do not assume those capabilities are generally available.
Choose Slack for agent participation in conversations
Slack fits teams that want to talk with an agent where channel decisions and discussions already happen. Adding an agent or app to a channel can make interactions visible to the channel; an interaction can also be private to one person. Be deliberate about where an agent is installed, what permissions its app requests, and which channel members can see its activity.

Choose Copilot Studio for managed agent creation and publishing
Copilot Studio is a candidate when an organization needs an explicit path for authoring, configuring, sharing, and publishing agents. Microsoft’s documented collaborative-author rights cover those actions, so they are broader than permission merely to chat with an agent. The Environment Maker Dataverse role is required for coauthoring.
Choose Gemini Enterprise for Google-centered workflows
Gemini Enterprise is worth evaluating when Google Workspace is central to team work and organization-managed agent sharing is desirable. The important question is not only who can open the agent, but also what associated sources it can expose through questions asked of it. Google’s guidance says agent recipients may be able to query those sources without direct access to them.

Consider the configured ChatGPT assistant in Slack or Teams
If your organization already uses ChatGPT through Slack or Microsoft Teams, OpenAI also describes an organization-configured @ChatGPT assistant for shared discussion and connected tools. Its reach depends on administrator-configured connections; it does not automatically inherit a user’s entire channel history or personal account. This is a distinct path from giving an agent unrestricted access to everything a user can see.
What to check before sharing an agent
A shared agent is not just shared instructions. The configuration, connections, and source permissions determine what it can use and what recipients may be able to ask it about. Work through these checks before rollout:

- Map the work surface. Decide whether collaboration should happen in shared documents, Slack or Teams conversations, or a dedicated agent builder. Choose the option that matches where the team already makes and records decisions.
- Inspect the shared context. Identify the specific pages, files, knowledge, and connectors the agent is expected to use. Confirm which are actually enabled rather than assuming that a workspace connection includes everything.
- Separate use from authoring. Establish who may chat with an agent and who may change its instructions, configure tools, share it, or publish it. These are different capabilities; Microsoft documents them as distinct chat-sharing and collaborative-authoring rights.
- Trace the data boundary. Determine whether access follows each user’s source-system permissions, an owner’s connection, or sources attached to the agent. OpenAI advises using scoped shared connections for Slack agents and cautions against exposing a builder’s personal credentials. Google’s warning about shared agents querying associated sources makes representative-user testing especially important.
- Set review and oversight. Decide who can install or publish agents, whether app approval is required, and which actions need confirmation. Slack documents administrator controls for app approval; OpenAI describes admin-managed connections and activity logs for its team assistant.
- Verify availability on your plan and setup. Check current plan eligibility, enabled features, and whether a capability is generally available or still forthcoming. Product documentation and controls can change, so validate the exact setup your team will use.
Match the choice to your team
- Document-first team: Start with ChatGPT Space if common context and shared editable pages matter most. Confirm supported page types and the mobile actions your team needs.
- Conversation-first team: Start with Slack if agents should participate in channels. Make app review and channel membership part of the deployment decision.
- Microsoft-governed agent program: Evaluate Copilot Studio when publishing and coauthor permissions need an explicit administrative structure, and include its environment-role requirement in the setup plan.
- Google-centered team: Evaluate Gemini Enterprise when Google data and workflows are central. Test an agent’s associated-source behavior with representative users before sharing it broadly.
- Team already using ChatGPT in Slack or Teams: Consider the organization-configured @ChatGPT assistant when shared discussion and admin-configured tools are the goal, while accounting for its connection-based access limits.
What the available comparisons do not establish
The official product documentation describes features and controls, but it does not provide a same-basis price comparison or independent head-to-head measurements of productivity, accuracy, or adoption. This makes a feature-fit choice more defensible than calling one platform universally best. Compare your actual plan, enabled integrations, permission model, and oversight needs before committing.
