The best settings for smoother performance in Minecraft Dungeons depend on your platform and hardware. Lowering visual effects may trade image quality for smoother play, but no available benchmark proves that a particular setting—or preset—will improve performance by a fixed amount. Start with the checks for your platform, then compare changes in your own game.
Check your Windows PC against the game’s requirements
The official Minecraft store listing specifies Windows 10 version 18362.0 or higher, x64 architecture, a Core i5 2.8GHz or equivalent processor, 8 GB of memory, and a GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7870 (or equivalent DirectX 11 GPU) with 2 GB of video memory. These are published requirements, not a guarantee of smooth play or a target frame rate.

The Minecraft Dungeons Steam listing also specifies a Core i5 2.8GHz or equivalent, 8 GB RAM, a GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7870 or equivalent DirectX 11 GPU, DirectX 11, and 6 GB of storage. It notes, “Performance increases with higher-end systems.” If your PC is below the requirements, settings changes may not resolve choppiness; the published figures do not say what performance to expect on any particular configuration.

This check is relevant if your PC has more than one graphics processor, such as integrated graphics and a separate graphics card. Microsoft documents the Windows 11 app preference at Settings > System > Display > Graphics.

- Craft the perfect hero with legendary gear, including a wide range of weapons, armor, and artifacts.
- Open Settings > System > Display > Graphics.
- Select Minecraft Dungeons in the app list. If it is not listed, use the option to add a desktop app and select the game’s executable.
- Open the app’s options, choose High performance, and save the change.
- Close and restart the game. Microsoft advises restarting the app after changing its graphics preference.
This is a targeted Windows configuration check, not a confirmed fix for Minecraft Dungeons. If the game already uses the intended GPU, changing this preference may make no difference.
Test in-game effects one at a time on PC
A Microsoft Q&A answer from an Independent Advisor suggests trying lower or disabled settings for V-sync, anti-aliasing quality, shadow quality, and bloom. This is user-contributed troubleshooting advice, not an official Minecraft or Microsoft recommendation, and it does not establish which options are available in every current version of the game.

Open the graphics or video options actually shown in your game. If one of the suggested settings is present, change only that setting, replay the same area, and compare both smoothness and image quality before moving to another. Treat each change as an experiment rather than a proven performance improvement.

- V-sync: Compare enabled and disabled only if the option is available. Disabling it may be worth testing for choppiness, but screen tearing can be a tradeoff.
- Anti-aliasing quality: Try a lower value or off if available; edges may look less smooth.
- Shadow quality: Try lowering it if available; shadows may look less detailed.
- Bloom: Try disabling it if available; lighting effects may look different.
The Q&A answer does not quantify the effect of these settings or establish their exact tradeoffs for every system. If a change looks worse or does not help, restore the prior value.

On Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch, use only the options shown in your version
The available information does not verify a particular console performance preset or confirm that the PC options above appear on Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch. Check the game’s own settings menu and use only controls present in your version; do not assume that PC instructions apply to a console. Check for available game and platform updates if performance has changed or you are troubleshooting a persistent issue. No specific console frame-rate target is established here.

- Choose a level or situation where the choppiness is easy to notice, and use that same situation for each comparison.
- Note the current setting and how the game looks and feels.
- Change one setting only, then repeat the same section.
- Keep the change only if the result is preferable overall; otherwise, revert it before testing another option.
This simple comparison helps separate the effect of one setting from other changes. It is a general troubleshooting method, not a controlled test or a promise of a particular result in Minecraft Dungeons.
