A 10 GB plan is the practical floor; 14–16 GB becomes sensible when several players explore at once, bases contain many machines or chunks are force-loaded. Among the current examples, Connect Hosting is the simplest managed baseline, Hostd is aimed at groups that prioritize high advertised CPU clock speed, and MintServers offers the widest range of CPU and storage tiers. None should be treated as an independently benchmarked winner: the published performance claims come from the providers.
What All the Mods 10 needs from a server
All the Mods 10 (ATM10) is a Java Edition modpack of roughly 500 mods for Minecraft 1.21.1, running on NeoForge. It is substantially heavier than a lightly modded survival server, so the host’s CPU, memory allocation, storage latency and operational tools all affect playability. Java 21 is required; a host that only offers older Java runtimes is incompatible.

Recommended Free Tools
The official ATM10 requirements guidance distinguishes client memory from server memory. A client should allocate at least 8 GB and generally 10 GB, while the total computer should have 16 GB minimum and 32 GB recommended. Those figures describe the player’s computer, not the amount to purchase from a hosting company. For the server itself, the multiplayer guidance sets 10 GB as the minimum practical hosted allocation and recommends NVMe storage.
Minecraft’s main simulation loop can be limited by one busy thread even when a plan advertises many cores. High single-thread speed therefore matters more than a large core count alone. Extra cores still help with background work, networking and some mod tasks, but they do not automatically remove a tick-time bottleneck.

RAM, CPU and storage by group size
The following figures are planning baselines rather than guarantees. World generation, the number of loaded chunks, automation machines, dimensions, farms and simultaneous exploration can all raise the requirement.
| Concurrent players | Starting RAM | Suggested CPU provision | World storage | Network baseline | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2–5 | 10 GB | Four cores at about 3.5 GHz | 30 GB NVMe | 100 Mbps | Small private world with ordinary exploration |
| 5–15 | 12–14 GB | Six cores at about 3.8 GHz | 50 GB NVMe | 250 Mbps or faster | Most friend groups, multiple bases and regular dimension travel |
| 15 or more | 16 GB or more | Eight or more cores at about 4.0 GHz | 100 GB or more of NVMe | 1 Gbps | Large communities, public servers or heavily automated worlds |
Start with the row that matches your normal concurrent population, then leave room for growth. A 5–15-player group that is likely to add chunk loaders or large processing chains should choose the upper end of its memory range or a plan that can be upgraded without moving the world.

Compatibility checks before you pay
ATM10 can fail before performance is even relevant if the host installs the wrong loader, Java runtime or pack revision. Confirm each item in writing or in the control panel:
- Java: Java 21 must be selectable for the server process.
- Loader: the installation must use NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1, not Forge, Fabric or a different NeoForge release.
- Pack build: the host should identify the exact ATM10 server-pack version and explain how updates are applied.
- Files: you need access to the server files, configuration, logs and world download so you are not locked into one panel.
- Rollback: ask whether a pack update can be reverted and whether the provider retains the previous server files.
- Edition: ATM10 is Java Edition. Bedrock consoles and phones cannot join directly; a separate compatibility layer would be required and is outside the normal ATM10 setup.
Keep every player’s client on the same ATM10 release as the server. A mismatched mod or configuration version can produce a missing-mod error, connection rejection or a world that loads differently for different players.

Connect Hosting: the straightforward managed baseline
Connect Hosting lists ATM10 already configured for NeoForge 1.21.1 and Java 21, which removes the most error-prone part of a first installation. Its published entry point is 12 GB rather than a marginal 8 GB allocation. The included NVMe capacity and three backups on that tier are useful for a private group that wants a ready-to-play world without assembling the server pack manually.
The 16 GB and 32 GB plans provide a simple memory upgrade path. That is valuable when a world grows: increasing RAM is safer than repeatedly migrating a save to a different provider. Before committing, check whether backups are stored away from the same physical node, how often they run and how long they are retained.
Hostd: a high-clock CPU option
Hostd emphasizes a Ryzen 9700X running at a stated 5.5 GHz all-core and describes roughly 12 GB as suitable for six to ten players. Its published Elder Guardian plan supplies 14 GB RAM, eight cores and 84 GB NVMe for $37.99 per month. This configuration is a logical candidate for a group whose bases contain many machines or whose members explore several areas simultaneously.
Do not interpret the clock figure as a guaranteed tick rate. Ask whether the cores are dedicated or shared, which processor generation is used on the actual node, what happens during host contention and whether the quoted speed is sustained under load. Those answers matter more than a headline number alone.
MintServers: broad tier selection
MintServers publishes ATM10 levels from €9.99 to €29.99 per month. The listed hardware spans EPYC systems at 4.0 GHz or higher, Ryzen 7 systems at 5.1 GHz and Ryzen 9 7950X/9950X-class machines with NVMe. Its own guidance positions lower tiers for one to five players, MAX for five to twenty and ULTRA dedicated vCores for twenty or more players or public servers. Some tiers add cloud backups and higher-priority support.

This range can make sense if you want to begin economically and move to a premium CPU or dedicated-vCore tier later. Because the page uses changing plan labels, confirm the exact RAM, CPU allocation, storage medium, backup schedule and node location shown in your order rather than relying on a tier name.
How to choose between plans
Prioritize compatibility first
Reject any plan that cannot select Java 21 and NeoForge 1.21.1. A cheaper server with the wrong runtime will cost more time than it saves. Automatic ATM10 installation is convenient, but you should still be able to inspect the installed server-pack version and the startup command.
Buy headroom, not an oversized number
For a small group, 10 GB is the floor. Most five-to-fifteen-player groups should begin around 12 GB, with 14–16 GB available as a straightforward next step. Buying 32 GB immediately is rarely useful if the CPU is weak or the world has only a few players. Memory should be paired with a fast processor and enough storage for the world, backups and temporary update files.
Understand CPU allocation language
“400% CPU,” “six cores” and “dedicated vCores” describe different allocation systems. Request clarification on whether a percentage equals one full logical core, whether cores are reserved, and whether other customers share the same physical processor. Prefer a higher-clock tier when the provider can explain its scheduling policy and the price difference is reasonable.

NVMe reduces world-load and chunk-generation wait time compared with slower storage, but it is not a substitute for backups. Look for automatic backups stored off the game node, a manual backup button, downloadable archives and a documented restore process. Confirm that backups include the world, player data, server configuration and the modpack files needed to reproduce the installation.

Match the region to the players
Choose a data center close to most players. Geographic distance increases network latency, while an overloaded route can cause intermittent rubber-banding even when the server itself is healthy. Ask about DDoS protection, maintenance notices, support hours and the escalation path for a stuck or corrupted world.
Step-by-step setup
- Record the target build. Write down the ATM10 version your group will use, Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge and Java 21. Give this exact combination to support if the panel offers several installers.
- Select the resource tier. Use the player-count table as a starting point. Choose NVMe storage and leave enough capacity for the world plus backups; do not allocate every last gigabyte to the live save.
- Install the server pack. Use the host’s ATM10 installer if it identifies the correct server-pack release. If you upload files yourself, follow the pack’s server instructions and set the startup runtime to Java 21.
- Set access controls. Enable the whitelist, create operator access only for trusted administrators and use a strong panel password with two-factor authentication when available.
- Run a first boot. Start the server once, accept the Minecraft EULA in the generated file, then restart. Read the console for missing mods, Java errors, failed downloads or a port-binding failure before inviting players.
- Configure backups. Schedule automatic off-server backups before the first serious build. Create a manual backup immediately after installation and download a copy so you know the restore workflow works.
- Test with one player. Join from a client running the identical ATM10 version. Travel between dimensions, generate new terrain and open several machines while watching the console and resource graphs.
- Invite the group gradually. Add players in stages rather than opening the server to everyone at once. This makes it easier to identify whether lag begins with exploration, a particular mod or a resource limit.
- Document updates. Before changing the pack, stop the server, create a named backup and record the old version. Update clients only after the server has started successfully on the new build.
Keeping an ATM10 world healthy
Watch symptoms, not just RAM percentage
A server can show free memory while still missing tick deadlines because one simulation thread is saturated. Conversely, a high memory graph may reflect Java’s normal heap behavior rather than an imminent failure. Track CPU per core, allocated heap, garbage-collection pauses, disk space and the server’s tick-time or TPS indicator together.
Control chunk generation
New terrain is one of the most expensive moments for a modded server. Encourage players to explore in smaller groups, pre-generate commonly used travel areas if the pack and host support it, and avoid leaving many distant chunk loaders active. Keep at least one backup before experimenting with chunk-generation tools.
Plan for automation growth
Machines, item networks, farms and cross-dimensional power systems continue consuming server time even when nobody is actively building. Review force-loaded chunks and idle contraptions when performance declines. If the panel shows sustained CPU saturation after those checks, move to a faster-clock or less-contended tier before adding more memory.
Protect the save
Use a retention schedule that keeps several recent restore points and at least one older milestone. Test a restore on a temporary instance or after downloading the archive; a backup that has never been restored is an assumption, not a recovery plan. Stop the server cleanly before copying a live world whenever the panel permits it.
Best Value
Troubleshooting common failures
The server stops during startup
- Verify Java 21 is selected rather than the host’s default runtime.
- Confirm that the server pack and NeoForge version match the client release.
- Read the first error in the log, not only the final “server stopped” line. A missing dependency, invalid configuration or insufficient disk space usually appears earlier.
- Restore the last known-good backup if the failure began immediately after an update.
Players receive a missing-mod or mismatched-version error
Compare the client and server pack manifests, including optional dependencies and configuration files. Reinstalling only the launcher profile may leave an old mod in the client directory. Have every player use the same distribution method and pack version, then reconnect after the server has completed a clean boot.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesChunks load slowly or the world rubber-bands
Separate network latency from server tick delay. If the console reports long ticks while CPU usage is concentrated on one core, reduce simultaneous exploration and heavy automation, then consider a faster CPU tier. If ticks are healthy but every player has high ping, test from the provider’s region and inspect the route or DDoS mitigation rather than adding RAM.
The world runs out of disk space
Check the live world, logs, crash reports, uploaded archives and retained backups separately. Expand storage before the filesystem reaches 100 percent; a full disk can prevent chunk saves and corrupt the world. Remove only files you have verified are redundant, and keep at least one downloadable backup outside the host.
An update breaks the world
Stop immediately, preserve the failed installation for diagnosis and restore the pre-update backup to a separate instance if possible. Do not open the only copy of the world in a different modpack version and continue playing. Once the cause is identified, update clients and server together and keep the old build available until the group confirms stability.
Price, billing and support questions to verify
Monthly price is only one part of the cost. Ask whether the displayed amount is introductory, whether renewal uses the same rate, which currency and taxes apply, and whether a monthly commitment differs from a longer term. Check cancellation timing, refund eligibility, migration assistance and the fee for increasing RAM or changing locations.
Support quality matters most during a failed update or restore. Before purchasing, find out whether support can inspect logs, whether replies are handled around the clock or only during business hours, and whether urgent incidents have a stated escalation process. A host that offers file access and downloadable backups gives you more control if support is delayed.
Which option should you choose?
Choose Connect Hosting when you want a clearly packaged ATM10 installation, Java 21 and a conventional managed panel for a private group. Choose Hostd when a high advertised CPU clock and a 14 GB plan align with a six-to-ten-player, automation-heavy world and you have confirmed how its cores are scheduled. Choose MintServers when you need several price and hardware levels, are comfortable checking changing plan details and may move to a premium Ryzen or dedicated-vCore tier.
Whichever provider you select, the decision should be based on verified compatibility, a realistic memory tier, fast single-thread performance, NVMe storage, tested backups and an upgrade path—not on an unverified “smooth” or TPS promise. Provider specifications are useful for narrowing the field, but they are not independent benchmark results.
