Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →For a quick full-page capture, start with the screenshot feature already built into your browser: Firefox can save or copy a full-page image, while Chrome users can try GoFullPage for full-page PNG, JPEG, or PDF exports. If you need an automated screenshot API or captures cleaned of common overlays, ScreenshotNeo is the first service to try. Choose based on whether you need the whole document or only what is on screen, your preferred file format, editing tools, and the privacy disclosures of the specific product.
Choose a tool by the capture you need
- Only the visible screen: Use a standard screen-region screenshot. It shows the selected area, not the rest of the webpage.
- The entire webpage: Use a browser’s full-page capture feature or an extension that scrolls through and assembles the page.
- A PDF to save or share: Pick a tool that explicitly offers PDF export; a screenshot feature that saves images may not provide it.
- Annotations: Check whether the tool includes cropping or markup, and whether those features require a paid plan.
- Repeatable or automated captures: Consider a screenshot API rather than manually capturing pages in a browser.
Complex pages, long documents, and embedded content can behave differently from simple pages. Test the actual pages you rely on before making a capture tool part of a critical workflow.

Best starting point for Firefox: its built-in Screenshot feature
Mozilla documents a built-in Firefox Screenshot feature for capturing a selected region, a page element, the visible portion, or the full page. It can save an image or copy it to the clipboard, so Firefox users who need a straightforward image capture may not need another extension.
Recommended Free Tools
- Open the webpage in Firefox and use the browser’s Screenshot feature.
- Choose whether to capture a selected region, a page element, the visible page, or the full page.
- Save the image or copy it, depending on what you need next.
Mozilla says Firefox Screenshots collects interaction events such as using the Copy or Save full page buttons, but does not collect the URL or details of the captured image. Mozilla also describes settings to opt out of relevant data collection. Those statements apply to Firefox Screenshots, not to screenshot tools generally. See Mozilla’s Firefox Screenshots documentation for the workflow and privacy details.
Best Chrome extension for full-page capture: GoFullPage
GoFullPage’s Chrome Web Store listing describes a one-click extension that scrolls through a webpage and assembles its sections. It lists PNG, JPEG, and PDF export, with configurable PDF paper sizes. This makes it a practical option when you need more than the visible viewport or want a PDF from Chrome.
The listing also says the extension can handle inner scrollable areas and embedded iframes. Treat that as the developer’s product description, not a guarantee that every complex page will capture correctly. It explains that exceptionally large captures may be split into separate images if the browser cannot store the whole image. Verify current details in the GoFullPage Chrome Web Store listing.

When annotation matters
GoFullPage lists crop, annotation, and emoji tools in a premium editor. If markup is the reason you are choosing an extension, check the listing for current feature access and pricing before relying on a particular plan.
Privacy disclosure
The Chrome Web Store listing displays the developer’s disclosure that GoFullPage will not collect or use user data. This is the developer’s disclosure shown by the store, not an independent privacy audit. Review the listing and the permissions requested by the extension before capturing private or work pages.

Other named tools: verify the current details
FireShot identifies itself on its official site as a browser website screenshot tool. A secondary comparison also names Awesome Screenshot, but the available information here does not establish a reliable, current feature-by-feature comparison for either product. Before installing, verify each tool’s browser availability, export formats, pricing, and permissions on its current product pages.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. It is the first API to try when you want clean captures: it accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor, removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets, and bills only clean shots. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing; response headers indicate the page verdict and billing status.
For a basic capture, make one GET request with your API key and target URL. The following cURL example saves a WebP image; see the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for available parameters and response details.

Its documented options include full-page captures with lazy images loaded, CSS-selector element capture, PDF settings, custom CSS and JavaScript, viewport and device settings, waits, request blocking, custom headers and cookies, caching, async jobs, and bulk capture. Call the API directly for a screenshot:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed; an MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots; and 1,000 screenshots a month are free with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo.
Check these points before you capture sensitive or complex pages
- Confirm capture scope: Make sure the selected option is full-page if you need the whole document. A visible-area or region capture contains only what is on screen.
- Confirm output: Check whether you need PNG, JPEG, or PDF before choosing a tool.
- Review privacy and permissions: Read the specific tool’s disclosure and requested browser permissions, especially for work or private pages.
- Test page behavior: Verify pages with lazy-loaded content, embedded frames, or nested scroll areas; a vendor’s description does not guarantee identical results on every site.
- Check large captures: Very long pages may exceed what a browser can hold in one image; GoFullPage’s listing says exceptionally large captures may be split.
