Short answer: There is no independently proven universal “best” screenshot API for marketing reports. For a repeatable workflow that captures landing pages, campaign destinations and competitor homepages, ScreenshotNeo is the strongest first choice in this shortlist: it removes common page clutter before capture, bills only clean shots, supports bulk and asynchronous jobs, and has a $5 entry plan. ScreenshotOne is a credible alternative when its published integrations, formats or location controls fit your process.
A screenshot API captures the visual evidence; it does not automatically write your marketing narrative or verify campaign claims. Treat the comparison below as a selection guide based on published capabilities and pricing snapshots, not as an independent benchmark.

| 1 | ScreenshotNeo | Clean recurring captures, bulk jobs and AI-agent workflows | Free: 1,000 shots/month; Starter: $5 for 3,000; Growth: $15 for 15,000; Pro: $39 for 60,000; Scale: $99 for 250,000; Business: $249 for 1,000,000 | Only clean shots are billed; every response reports page and billing status |
| 2 | ScreenshotOne | Teams wanting vendor-listed integrations, storage uploads or selectable IP locations | 100 free/month; Basic $17/month for 2,000; Growth $79 for 10,000; Scale $259 for 50,000 | Vendor pricing page accessed September 29, 2026; prices exclude VAT and should be rechecked |
The products are not interchangeable in every detail. ScreenshotNeo’s plans include its full feature set, while ScreenshotOne’s pricing page assigns some capabilities to higher tiers. Neither service is established here as a purpose-built marketing-report platform; the report workflow is an application of general screenshot and rendering APIs.
What your reporting workflow actually needs
Before comparing prices, define the capture specification that your report requires. A useful specification records:
#1 Best Overall
- Upgraded Rotating Bar: The fixed-top rotating bar stays aligned for easy loading and securing—just rotate to lock, with less removing, lining up, or pushing. Ideal for work, school, home, and daily use.
- Classic Black Option: Prefer a traditional look? Classic black keeps resumes, business reports, and presentations clean, polished, and professional.
- Neat, Organized & Protected: This lightweight resume portfolio folder keeps pages secure and organized, helps protect against folds and dirt, offers clear front viewing, and features a bottom notch for easy flipping.
- Built for Repeated Use: Made from thick, flexible PP, each resume folder features a 15 mil clear front, 60 mil back, and sturdy rotating bar for added support and repeated use.
- Holds Up to 70 Sheets: Each presentation binder holds up to 70 sheets, measures 9.06 × 12.13 inches, and fits A4 and US Letter 11 × 8.5 in paper for reports, resumes, projects, and presentations.
- Targets: homepages, campaign landing pages, checkout steps or competitor pages, with a versioned URL list.
- Viewport: desktop, mobile or a named device preset, plus a fixed timezone and geolocation when localized content matters.
- Timing: a selector to wait for, a delay, or network-idle behavior so hero images and analytics-driven components finish loading.
- Output: PNG, JPEG or WebP for reports, PDF for archival pages, and a consistent pixel width or retina scale.
- Cleaning: cookie banners, newsletter forms, chat bubbles, ads and other overlays removed without altering the page’s substantive design.
- Audit trail: capture timestamp, URL, viewport, response status, cache state and whether the image was billable.
- Scale: the number of URLs per run, concurrency limits, retries and where the resulting files will be stored.
Write these values into your report metadata. Otherwise a redesign, consent banner or changed viewport can look like a campaign performance change.
Why ScreenshotNeo ranks first
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server from Yorker Media. A GET request to https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. Its differentiator for reporting is the capture sequence: it accepts cookie and consent banners as a visitor would, then removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets. Each cleanup step can be disabled when the overlay itself is evidence you need to preserve.
Billing that distinguishes usable evidence
Only clean shots are billed. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits cost nothing. The response includes X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers so a pipeline can reject unusable images instead of silently adding them to a report.
Capture controls relevant to marketing pages
- Full-page screenshots with lazy-loaded images, or one element selected by CSS.
- Dark mode, 12 device presets, arbitrary viewport dimensions and retina scale.
- PDF paper size, margins, landscape mode and page ranges.
- HTML/CSS-to-image rendering, custom CSS and JavaScript, click-before-capture actions, and selectors to hide.
- Waiting for a selector, a fixed delay or network idle.
- Blocking ads, trackers, individual requests or resource types.
- Custom headers, cookies, user agent and Authorization values for authenticated or staged pages.
- Timezone and geolocation, transparent backgrounds and image resizing.
- Caching with a TTL you choose, signed links for public
<img>tags, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, and bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call. - Usage API, OpenAPI specification and compatibility with parameter names used by other screenshot APIs, which can simplify migration.
For AI-assisted reporting, its MCP server exposes take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf to Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients. Every feature is available on every plan.

Automate any number of homepages yourself with Playwright
A local browser is useful when you need bespoke logic, private network access or complete control over browser dependencies. The following Node.js example reads URLs, captures each page and records failures without stopping the batch.
Install and run
- Install Node.js, then run
npm install playwright. - Install a browser with
npx playwright install chromium. - Create
urls.txtwith one absolute URL per line. - Save the script as
capture.mjsand runnode capture.mjs.
import fs from 'node:fs/promises';
import path from 'node:path';
import { chromium } from 'playwright';
const urls = (await fs.readFile('urls.txt', 'utf8'))
.split(/\r?\n/).map(s => s.trim()).filter(Boolean);
await fs.mkdir('shots', { recursive: true });
const browser = await chromium.launch();
const context = await browser.newContext({
viewport: { width: 1440, height: 900 },
deviceScaleFactor: 1
});
const results = [];
for (let i = 0; i < urls.length; i++) {
const url = urls[i];
const page = await context.newPage();
try {
const response = await page.goto(url, {
waitUntil: 'networkidle', timeout: 60000
});
await page.screenshot({
path: path.join('shots', `${String(i + 1).padStart(3, '0')}.png`),
fullPage: true
});
results.push({ url, status: response?.status() ?? null, ok: true });
} catch (error) {
results.push({ url, ok: false, error: String(error) });
} finally {
await page.close();
}
}
await fs.writeFile('shots/manifest.json', JSON.stringify(results, null, 2));
await browser.close();
For 20 or more pages, add controlled concurrency rather than opening unlimited tabs. Keep the same viewport, browser version and wait policy for every run. Use a selector wait when a page has a known hero component; network idle alone can hang on sites with persistent analytics connections. If a page requires login, create a secured Playwright storage state and never commit it to source control.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo performs the hosted browser work and can process up to 100 URLs in a bulk call. The basic one-call example is documented at https://screenshotneo.com/docs/.

Cookie banners, newsletter popups and chat widgets are removed before the shot. Bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are never billed, and the response headers tell you the page verdict and billing result. The MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. You get 1,000 screenshots a month free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account.
What ScreenshotOne offers
ScreenshotOne’s pricing page, accessed September 29, 2026, lists 100 free screenshots per month, then Basic at $17 per month for 2,000 screenshots, Growth at $79 for 10,000 and Scale at $259 for 50,000. The listed request rates are 40, 80 and 150 requests per minute; extra requests are shown at $0.009, $0.006 and $0.004 respectively. Prices exclude VAT. These are dated vendor figures, so check the live page before purchase.
The same vendor page lists PNG, WebP, JPEG and other formats, full-page screenshots, PDF rendering, HTML rendering, caching, S3 upload, Zapier/Make and similar integrations, webhooks, signed links and stealth mode on its plans. Higher tiers list selectable IP location, scrolling screenshots and video; Scale also lists GPU rendering and priority support. Those are vendor-described capabilities, not independently tested results. The page says failed screenshots with HTTP, browser or network errors do not count, while cached behavior has qualifications and visual issues may still count.
ScreenshotNeo versus ScreenshotOne for common report scenarios
| Scenario | Prefer ScreenshotNeo when… | Prefer ScreenshotOne when… |
|---|---|---|
| Frequent consent and chat clutter | You want cleanup before billing and can inspect verdict headers. | You specifically need a vendor-listed stealth workflow and will verify visual output. |
| Large URL batches | You want bulk requests of up to 100 URLs and asynchronous webhooks. | Your plan’s published request rate and integrations match the schedule. |
| Budget experimentation | 1,000 free monthly shots or the $5/3,000 Starter plan covers the run. | You need only the 100-shot free allowance and its other listed features. |
| AI-agent operation | You need MCP tools for Claude, Cursor or another MCP client. | No MCP capability is established in the cited vendor material. |
| Geographic rendering | You can set timezone and geolocation directly. | You specifically require the selectable IP-location controls listed on higher tiers. |
Build a reliable recurring capture pipeline
- Freeze the manifest. Store URL, campaign name, expected viewport, locale, capture frequency and owner.
- Normalize output. Use one image format, naming convention and pixel width. Keep PDFs separately when pagination matters.
- Wait for meaningful content. Prefer a stable selector or bounded delay; do not use an unbounded network-idle wait on streaming sites.
- Capture and classify. Save the image together with timestamp, HTTP status, page verdict, billed flag and tool version.
- Retry selectively. Retry transient timeouts and 5xx responses with backoff. Do not repeatedly retry a CAPTCHA or a consistently blank page.
- Review visual diffs. A changed consent design, font load or geolocation can create a large pixel difference without a campaign change.
- Control access. Keep API keys, cookies and Authorization headers in a secret manager; redact them from logs.
Cost, speed and reliability considerations
- Cost: Count requested URLs, not only successful report rows. ScreenshotNeo’s free and paid allowances are monthly; ScreenshotOne’s figures above are monthly vendor prices and exclude VAT.
- Throughput: Respect the selected service’s request limits. For local Playwright, cap concurrent pages according to available memory and CPU.
- Caching: A cache is useful for unchanged reference pages, but set a TTL that matches your reporting cadence. Record cache hits so an old image is not mistaken for a fresh observation.
- Dynamic pages: Lazy images, consent scripts, animations and A/B tests can make two captures differ. Set a deterministic viewport, timezone and wait strategy.
- Access barriers: Authentication, bot checks, robots policies, geofencing and rate limits can prevent a faithful capture. Do not attempt to bypass access controls you are not authorized to test.
- Evidence quality: Keep the original file and metadata. Cropping or recompressing a screenshot inside a report should never overwrite the source capture.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Cookie banner covers the hero | The page needs consent before revealing content. | Use ScreenshotNeo’s consent handling, or in Playwright locate and click the approved consent control before capture. |
| Blank or half-rendered image | Capture occurred before client-side content or lazy images loaded. | Wait for a content selector, bounded delay or the service’s full-page lazy-load option; inspect the page verdict. |
| Repeated timeout | Slow origin, never-ending connections or blocked resources. | Increase a bounded timeout, block nonessential resource types, or capture after a known selector appears. |
| HTTP 401 or 403 | The target requires authentication or rejects the user agent. | Supply authorized headers, cookies or user-agent settings; otherwise obtain permission or use a public staging URL. |
| 429 responses | Request rate exceeded. | Reduce concurrency, add exponential backoff and use bulk or asynchronous jobs where available. |
| Stale screenshot | Cache TTL is longer than the reporting interval. | Shorten or bypass the cache and record the capture timestamp. |
| PDF pages break at awkward points | Paper size, margins or responsive layout do not match the report. | Set paper size, margins, landscape orientation and page ranges explicitly, then inspect several pages. |
FAQ
Can a screenshot API prove that a campaign converted?
No. It proves what a page looked like at a capture time. Conversion, spend, traffic and attribution still require your analytics and advertising systems.
Recommended Free Tools

Should competitor pages be captured on the same schedule as your own pages?
Usually yes for visual comparison, but document the date, locale and viewport. Competitor content can change without notice, so treat the image as a timestamped observation rather than a permanent fact.
Is a hosted API always better than local Playwright?
No. Hosted capture reduces browser maintenance and is easier to schedule at scale; local automation is preferable when the page is inside a private network or requires custom browser code that a hosted service cannot run.
