Best RLCraft Server Hosting in 2026: RAM, CPU, Setup, and Provider Choices

Godlike.Host is listed first in this four-provider shortlist. For a small RLCraft group, begin around 8 GB RAM and choose a host that can scale toward 12 GB. This guide compares RLCraft-ready providers, CPU and storage requirements, one-click installation, backups, locations, and common failure fixes.

Godlike.Host is listed first here: its modded Minecraft hosting includes a game panel, one-click modpacks, and up to three free backups a day with restore. For a small RLCraft group, start with an 8 GB Java server and choose a plan that can be upgraded to about 12 GB without moving worlds. RLCraft is unusually demanding because it combines Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge with many entities, structures, and heavy world generation. RAM is only part of the decision: strong single-core CPU performance, NVMe storage, matching Forge files, reliable backups, and a nearby data center matter just as much.

The provider shortlist below is evidence-based but not a laboratory ranking. Published memory figures are estimates from providers or editorial sizing guides, while prices, locations, support policies, and availability can change. Confirm the current plan details before paying.

What RLCraft server hosting must handle

RLCraft is the Java Edition modpack listed on CurseForge for Minecraft 1.12.2. CurseForge lists release 2.9.3 and the matching RLCraft Server Pack 1.12.2, both with a latest-release date of June 27, 2023. Your host must therefore support the server pack’s Forge build and a compatible Java runtime; a generic modern Minecraft preset is not enough.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The workload changes sharply when players explore in different directions. New chunks trigger world generation, while villages, structures, mobs, and item systems increase entity and tick activity. A plan that feels fine while everyone is standing at spawn can lag when several players travel through unexplored terrain.

  • Forge and pack compatibility: The server’s Forge version, mod files, configuration files, and Java version must match the client installation.
  • Memory headroom: Leave room for exploration spikes rather than sizing only for an idle world.
  • CPU quality: RLCraft benefits from fast per-core performance and a meaningful CPU allocation, not just a high thread count.
  • Storage: NVMe storage reduces save, region-generation, and restart delays compared with slower disks.
  • Operations: File access, scheduled backups, point-in-time restore, and migration tools limit the damage from a bad mod update or corrupted world.
  • Network resilience: A nearby location, DDoS protection, and a clearly stated uptime policy affect the experience as much as raw server specifications.

How much RAM does an RLCraft server need?

There is no universal number. The right allocation depends on player count, exploration rate, view and simulation distances, loaded farms, and the host’s CPU and Java overhead. Published estimates illustrate the range:

Use case or source Published figure How to interpret it
FreaksMC estimate for a small group (2026) 4–6 GB A lower-end estimate; leave additional headroom if players explore actively.
Astroworld Hosting RLCraft listing (2026) 6–8 GB Its listed range and 8 GB starter plan make it a possible entry point.
Dregora requirement reported by TechYorker (2026) 8 GB A useful conservative floor for a heavily modded 1.12.2-style workload.
Five-player model from FindYourMinecraftServer (2026) About 12 GB Relevant when five players explore or keep many chunks active.
FindYourMinecraftServer model for ten players (2026) 17 GB Plan for a higher tier rather than expecting an 8 GB plan to scale this far.
FindYourMinecraftServer model for twenty players (2026) 27 GB An editorial sizing model, not an independent benchmark.

For “me and my friends,” 8 GB is the practical starting point if the host supplies decent CPU performance and lets you upgrade. Treat 12 GB as the next target when five players are online, exploration is frequent, or the server reports sustained memory pressure. The figures above are guidance, not laboratory measurements, and different hosts may reserve some RAM for the operating environment.

Is 8 GB enough for RLCraft?

It can be enough for a small, coordinated group that shares an area and avoids loading many new chunks at once. It is not a guarantee of smooth play. If the server reaches its memory ceiling, Java garbage collection can produce pauses, and the host may kill or restart the process. Choose a provider that allows an online plan upgrade and test under your real play pattern during the refund or trial period, if one is offered.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

When should you choose 12 GB or more?

Move to roughly 12 GB when five players regularly explore in separate directions, when a long-running world has accumulated farms and entities, or when logs show repeated out-of-memory events after CPU and configuration checks. Ten- and twenty-player communities should begin with a capacity plan based on the higher estimates above, not by multiplying an 8 GB starter plan.

Provider shortlist for 2026

The following options have a specific RLCraft or Forge reference in the available material. They are candidates to verify, not a claim that one provider is universally fastest or most reliable.

Provider Evidence for RLCraft Published memory or feature Focus What to verify
Godlike.Host Modded Minecraft hosting with one-click modpacks for Forge, Fabric, and NeoForge, a built-in mod installer and updater, and its own game panel. Up to three free backups a day with restore; SFTP/FTP access. Players who want modded Minecraft tools and self-service backup controls. RLCraft 1.12.2 Forge compatibility, available memory tier, location, and current plan details.
CoalHost Dedicated RLCraft product for Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge; its guide says, “Undersizing RAM is the single most common RLCraft hosting mistake.” The product was described as verified on a real dedicated server on May 16, 2026. Not stated in the available material. Readers who want a provider explicitly focused on RLCraft and are willing to check the technical details. Current price, locations, backup schedule, CPU allocation, upgrade path, and any affiliate terms.
Astroworld Hosting Its modpack listing names RLCraft and Forge. 6–8 GB listing; an 8 GB starter plan is listed. A small group seeking a clearly advertised starting tier. Whether the listed RAM is dedicated, the CPU model or limit, storage type, location, and current monthly total.
RoxyCloud Brazil-focused page describes preinstalled Forge 1.12.2 RLCraft. 6 GB RAM, multiplayer support, anti-DDoS, and activation in minutes are described. Brazilian players who need a regional location and quick provisioning. Brazilian currency and taxes, exact data-center city, latency from each player’s ISP, upgrade options, and current availability.

Do not select solely from the cheapest headline price. Compare the monthly total at the memory tier you actually need, then price the next upgrade. A low introductory tier can cost more over time if an upgrade requires migration or if backups and dedicated CPU are add-ons.

CPU, storage, and network specifications to compare

CPU allocation

Ask whether the plan specifies a CPU model, dedicated cores, or a guaranteed share. “Unlimited” or a large maximum clock number does not tell you how much processing your instance receives under host-node load. For RLCraft, high single-core performance generally matters more than a large virtual-core count because the server’s main tick loop is sensitive to per-core speed.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Prefer a recent high-frequency processor or a clearly stated dedicated core allocation.
  • Ask whether CPU limits are enforced with throttling and how they are measured.
  • Check whether the host permits viewing tick time, CPU usage, and process limits in its panel.

Storage and backups

NVMe storage helps with region files, autosaves, and restarts. Capacity also matters: a world with multiple dimensions and backups can grow quickly. Confirm the backup frequency, retention count, storage location, and whether you can download a backup independently of the host. A backup that cannot be restored without support is less useful than a self-service snapshot.

  • Memory configuration: Equipped with 32GB DDR4 RAM (16GB * 2), providing sufficient memory capacity for multitasking and demanding applications
  • Gaming Performance: Designed to handle modern gaming titles and graphics-intensive tasks with smooth frame rates and visual quality
  • Desktop System: Complete gaming desktop computer system ready for setup and use out of the box

Location, latency, and resilience

Select a data center close to most players. RoxyCloud’s cited offer is specifically regional to Brazil, so it is most relevant when the group is in Brazil; players elsewhere should measure latency before committing. Request a test address or use the provider’s permitted network test, and compare the result from the actual homes that will connect.

Ask what DDoS protection covers, whether it is included, and what the provider’s uptime commitment excludes. No independent uptime test was established for these candidates, so treat an advertised percentage as a contractual term to read, not as proof of real-world performance.

One-click installation versus manual setup

A one-click installer can upload the pack, select Forge, and create a server in minutes, but it does not remove compatibility checks. A preconfigured template may lag behind the current RLCraft server pack or use a different Java build. Keep a copy of the official files and verify the resulting installation before inviting everyone.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Checklist before ordering

  • Confirm support for Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge and the official RLCraft Server Pack 1.12.2.
  • Confirm the Java runtime required by that Forge build and whether you can change it in the panel.
  • Confirm at least 8 GB at the starting tier and a straightforward path to about 12 GB.
  • Confirm NVMe or equivalent fast storage, backup retention, and restore controls.
  • Confirm the server location, DDoS policy, CPU allocation, and cancellation or migration terms.

Manual installation procedure

  1. Obtain the files: Download the official RLCraft Server Pack 1.12.2 associated with release 2.9.3 from CurseForge. Do not mix files from a different RLCraft release.
  2. Prepare the instance: Create a new server, select the host’s Minecraft 1.12.2/Forge option if available, and set the Java runtime required by the pack.
  3. Upload the pack: Use the panel’s file manager or SFTP to upload the server-pack archive, then extract it in the server’s root directory. Preserve the supplied mods, configs, scripts, and libraries.
  4. Accept the EULA: Start once, open the generated eula.txt, set eula=true after reading Mojang’s terms, and save it.
  5. Set memory: Allocate about 8 GB for a small group, leaving the host’s required overhead. Do not assign every byte of a plan to Java; follow the panel’s documented maximum.
  6. Start and inspect: Start the server and read the console for Forge errors, missing libraries, or a Java-version message. A clean startup should reach a ready state without repeated crash loops.
  7. Test privately: Connect one client using the same RLCraft release, Forge version, and configuration. Teleport or travel far enough to generate new terrain, then watch memory, CPU, tick time, and logs.
  8. Invite the group: Add players only after the private test succeeds. Make a manual backup before changing mods, configs, or Java versions.

One-click installation procedure

  1. Choose the RLCraft or Forge 1.12.2 template, not a generic Minecraft 1.12.2 image.
  2. Check the template’s displayed RLCraft release and server-pack date against your client files.
  3. Set the memory tier before deployment; select 8 GB or higher for a small group rather than trying to raise the limit after the first crash.
  4. After deployment, open the file manager and verify that the expected mods, config, and Forge files exist.
  5. Run the same private connection and exploration test as with a manual install.
  6. Create and download a backup before inviting players or installing add-ons.

Diagnosing lag, crashes, and failed connections

The server will not start

  • Forge or Java mismatch: Read the first error in the console, select the runtime required by the server pack, and reinstall the matching Forge build.
  • Incomplete upload: Compare the directory contents with the official server pack and re-upload missing libraries or configuration files.
  • Insufficient memory: Increase the plan, but first remove duplicate or incompatible mods and check the Java launch arguments.
  • Corrupt world or config: Stop the server, restore the most recent known-good backup, and test the suspected change in a separate copy.

Players time out or rubber-band

Check each player’s ping to the data center, then inspect server tick time and CPU saturation. If only distant players are affected, choose a closer location. If everyone is affected during exploration, pre-generate terrain where practical, lower view or simulation distances, and move to a plan with stronger CPU allocation and more memory.

  • READY TO PLAY OUT OF THE BOX - Arrives fully assembled and tested with Windows 11 Home pre-installed, so your prebuilt gaming computer is ready to set up in minutes. Assembled in the USA, and backed by a one-year limited warranty and lifetime free technical support.

Lag appears after several hours

Look for growing entity counts, item piles, chunk-loaded farms, and repeated garbage-collection pauses. Remove abandoned entities, limit always-loaded areas, schedule restarts only after taking backups, and increase memory if the process is genuinely exhausting its allocation. A restart can hide the symptom temporarily; it does not fix an overloaded design.

Clients cannot join after an update

Compare the client and server’s RLCraft release, Forge build, mod filenames, configuration files, and Java-related server changes. RLCraft is not tolerant of casually mixing versions. Roll back to the last working backup if the update changed world or configuration data.

How to compare total cost and scaling

Calculate the cost of the tier you will actually use, not the smallest advertised plan. Record the monthly price, setup fee, backup fee, dedicated-IP fee if required, tax, and the price of the next memory tier. Also ask whether upgrading preserves the same files and IP address or requires a migration.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Cost question Why it matters
What is the recurring price for 8 GB? This is the practical starting point for a small group.
What is the recurring price for 12 GB? This is the likely next step for five active explorers.
Are backups included? Separate backup charges can change the real monthly total.
Is CPU dedicated or shared? A cheaper shared plan may deliver less consistent tick performance.
Can RAM be increased without migration? Seamless scaling reduces downtime and risk.
Can you download and restore files yourself? Self-service recovery is valuable during mod or world failures.

Because current prices, locations, support terms, and availability are volatile, verify them on the provider’s checkout and product pages immediately before purchase. The available evidence does not establish an independent ranking, guaranteed uptime, or a universal best host.

Decision guide for common groups

Two to four players who mostly build together

Choose an 8 GB plan with strong single-core CPU performance, NVMe storage, automated backups, and a nearby location. A one-click RLCraft template is useful if you still verify the pack and Forge versions.

Five players exploring actively

Start at 8 GB only if the provider makes upgrading easy and the CPU allocation is credible; budget for roughly 12 GB based on the FindYourMinecraftServer model. Test new-chunk generation before the full group joins.

A Brazil-based group

RoxyCloud’s Brazil-specific 6 GB offer includes preinstalled Forge 1.12.2 RLCraft, multiplayer support, anti-DDoS, and activation in minutes according to its listing. Because 6 GB is below the conservative 8 GB starting recommendation, confirm whether an upgrade is available and measure latency for every player.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A larger community

Do not extrapolate from a small-group plan. The cited model estimates 17 GB for ten players and 27 GB for twenty. Seek a higher-memory configuration, stronger CPU guarantees, monitoring, scheduled backups, and a documented migration path.

Bottom-line buying checklist

  • Pick the official RLCraft 2.9.3/1.12.2 server pack and matching Forge files.
  • Start around 8 GB for a small group; plan for approximately 12 GB when five players explore heavily.
  • Prioritize single-core CPU performance and NVMe storage alongside RAM.
  • Require automated backups, downloadable files, restore tools, and a no-drama upgrade path.
  • Choose a location near the players and verify latency, DDoS coverage, and the actual uptime terms.
  • Test a fresh connection and new-chunk generation before opening the server to everyone.
  • Treat provider memory figures as estimates, not guarantees, and recheck prices and availability at checkout.
