NEEWER’s 2026 comparison lists the RB18B as an 18-inch ring with 45 W maximum power, 3800 lux at 0.5 m, adjustable color temperature from 2900 to 7000 K, CRI 95+, and TLCI 97+. The lux figure is meaningful only with its stated measurement distance; it does not establish how bright it will appear at every working distance. When a different kind of light makes more sense
A ring is not automatically the right key light for every creator. If you need to illuminate a wider scene, work outdoors, or shape light for a subject farther from the camera, consider a more versatile continuous light instead. Depending on the workspace, alternatives include a desk panel, monitor light, portable light, or a studio COB light with a softbox. These formats serve different lighting needs and will not create the same circular catchlight as a ring.
