What is the best Red Dead Redemption 2 server hosting? For almost every community-server project, the practical answer is RedM hosting: RedM is the Cfx-powered modification that adds customized dedicated multiplayer servers to Red Dead Redemption 2. RedM’s official hosting page currently lists GPORTAL, Shockbyte, Nodecraft, xREALM, and ZAP-Hosting as hosting partners.
That list is an official shortlist, not a tested ranking. The available evidence does not establish a single best, cheapest, or fastest provider because comparable current prices, slot inclusions, data-center performance, backups, support terms, and cancellation policies have not been verified across all five. Use the framework below to compare live plans for your players, scripts, budget, and operating model.

What “Red Dead Redemption 2 server hosting” means in practice
RedM is the community-server platform
RedM is a modification for Red Dead Redemption 2 that enables multiplayer on customized dedicated servers. Operators use it for roleplay communities, private sessions, scripted events, and other experiences that are not part of the standard game service. When people search for a Red Dead Redemption 2 server, RedM server, or RedM server hosting, they usually mean a separately hosted RedM instance rather than an ordinary Red Dead Online session.
RedM is not Red Dead Online hosting
Red Dead Online and RedM have different infrastructure and support requirements. Rockstar’s connection article for Red Dead Online lists UDP ports 6672, 61455, 61457, 61456, and 61458 for troubleshooting that service. Those ports do not establish the port requirements for a RedM dedicated server, so copying that list into a RedM setup guide can create a misleading firewall configuration. Follow the port and networking instructions supplied for your RedM build and hosting panel instead.

The official RedM hosting shortlist for 2026
RedM’s current official hosting page names five partners: GPORTAL, Shockbyte, Nodecraft, xREALM, and ZAP-Hosting. The page identifies them as hosting options, but it does not publish a like-for-like independent evaluation. The table therefore separates what is established from what you must verify on each provider’s current plan page.
| Provider | What the official listing establishes | What is not established comparably | Questions to verify before ordering |
|---|---|---|---|
| GPORTAL | Listed by RedM as a hosting partner. | Current RedM price, included slots, resource allocation, regions, backups, support and cancellation terms are not stated in the available evidence. | Is the displayed price recurring, which taxes apply, what CPU and memory are reserved, and how are slots upgraded? |
| Shockbyte | Listed by RedM as a hosting partner. | No comparable current plan figures or measured performance are established. | Confirm RedM-specific plans, locations, restart controls, file access, backup retention and support hours. |
| Nodecraft | Listed by RedM as a hosting partner. | No verified cross-provider price, slot, hardware, latency or uptime comparison is available. | Check billing currency, tax treatment, resource limits, migration help and cancellation rules. |
| xREALM | Listed by RedM as a hosting partner. xREALM advertises one-click deployment, txAdmin integration, automatic updates, DDoS protection, global locations and Tebex integration. | Those are provider claims; independent uptime, latency, capacity and service-quality measurements are not established. | Ask which locations and protections are included in the exact plan, what automatic updates change, and how restores work. |
| ZAP-Hosting | Listed by RedM as a hosting partner. | Current comparable pricing, hardware allocation, backup terms, support coverage and performance are not stated. | Verify the RedM product, slot policy, resource guarantees, contract length and refund or cancellation conditions. |
Do not interpret “not established” as a claim that a provider lacks a feature. It means the available official listing does not provide enough comparable information to declare a winner.

Calculate the complete monthly cost
Start with the recurring server rental, then add any required platform subscription, taxes, setup fees, extra storage, additional backups, paid support, or overage charges. A headline price can be difficult to compare if one plan includes a fixed number of slots and another charges separately for capacity. Record the billing currency and whether the displayed amount is promotional or recurring.
Separate host rental from Cfx Element Club fees
A third-party server rental and a Cfx Element Club subscription are separate expenses. RedM’s official hosting page currently lists these Element Club prices, plus VAT, subject to change in the live portal:
| Element Club tier | Published price | Capacity or feature information |
|---|---|---|
| Argentum | $15 per month plus VAT | Tier-specific slot ceiling and features; an exact current ceiling is not stated here. |
| Aurum | $25 per month plus VAT | Tier-specific slot ceiling and features; an exact current ceiling is not stated here. |
| Platinum | $50 per month plus VAT | Reaches up to 1,024 slots with OneSync Infinity, according to the official page. |
Verify the live Element Club portal before budgeting because these figures are volatile and VAT depends on the applicable billing jurisdiction. Do not assume buying a tier supplies a physical server; you still need a host or your own machine.
Check included slots and the upgrade path
RedM states that its default OneSync Infinity configuration supports up to 48 players. Higher capacity is described through Element Club subscriptions, with Platinum and OneSync Infinity reaching up to 1,024 slots. A plan’s advertised slot number still needs context: ask whether slots are hard-capped, whether a higher tier is required, and whether CPU, memory or script limits make the nominal number impractical.

Match the location to your community
Choose a data-center region close to the majority of players, but do not promise a latency result without measurements. A provider’s “global locations” marketing does not tell you which cities are available on your plan or how traffic will route during peak periods. Ask for the exact region, test from representative player locations, and check whether changing regions later requires a migration.
Inspect resources rather than only slot counts
Scripts, maps, framework choices, voice systems and entity density can stress a server before the advertised player limit is reached. Compare the CPU allocation, number of cores or threads, memory, storage type and capacity, and whether resources are dedicated or shared. RedM’s platform guidance recommends an x86-64 system running Linux or Windows, decent upstream connectivity and preferably a multi-core processor. That is a platform recommendation, not a benchmark for any provider’s plan.
Evaluate administration tools
Look for txAdmin access, one-click or guided deployment, file transfer, console access, scheduled restarts, resource controls, log retrieval and framework templates. Confirm whether you can install custom scripts and whether the host permits the versions your framework requires. A polished panel saves time, but it does not replace access to configuration files and logs when a resource fails.
Read the resilience and contract terms
Ask how often backups run, how many restore points are retained, whether backups are stored in a separate location, and whether you can download them. Confirm DDoS protection scope, support channels and response targets, maintenance notices, cancellation timing, refunds and contract length. None of these terms has been verified on a comparable basis for all five listed providers.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteManaged hosting or self-hosting?
Managed hosting puts the server behind a provider panel, commonly with txAdmin configured and the machine kept online for you. A June 2026 HostMyGame guide describes this model as continuous operation with provider-managed infrastructure. You remain responsible for your resources, permissions and community rules, but you do not have to maintain the operating system or home network.
Self-hosting on a virtual private server or personal PC gives you more control and can be appropriate for an experienced administrator. The same guide says self-hosting requires installing and maintaining the server, handling port forwarding and updates, and managing uptime. It also exposes your project to your own hardware failures, residential upload limits and power or router outages.

Indicative budgets from a third-party guide
HostMyGame’s June 2026 guide gives the following estimates. They are planning ranges from that guide, not quotes verified across the five providers on RedM’s official list.
| Intended use | Approximate player range | Guide’s indicative monthly budget |
|---|---|---|
| Private or friends server | 5–12 players | €10–14 per month |
| Semi-public roleplay server | 12–24 players | €14–22 per month |
| Community roleplay server | 24–64 players | €20–40 per month |
| Large public server | 64–128 players | €35–70 per month |
Use these ranges only as an initial planning envelope. Currency conversion, VAT, storage, backups, platform subscriptions and provider-specific resource policies can move the real total substantially.
Requirements to prepare before you deploy
- Compatible machine: RedM recommends x86-64 on Linux or Windows 7/2008 R2 or newer, decent upstream connectivity and preferably a multi-core processor. The wording is from RedM’s official platform guidance and is not a guarantee that an entry-level plan will run every script.
- Game ownership: The June 2026 HostMyGame setup guide says its process requires ownership of Red Dead Redemption 2.
- Cfx.re license key: The same guide describes obtaining a Cfx.re key. Treat that as a setup prerequisite for the described process and confirm the current requirement in Cfx.re documentation.
- Configuration details: PineRiver’s September 2026 provider guide describes entering the Cfx license key and setting the hostname and maximum slots in its panel. Exact labels differ by host, so follow your provider’s current interface.
- Content and permissions: Prepare your framework, resource list, server name, administrator identifiers, rules, whitelist policy and moderation plan before inviting players.
- Backups: Decide where independent copies of configuration, database data and custom resources will live. A host backup is useful, but an offline or separately stored copy protects against account and panel problems.
Step-by-step: host a RedM server
- Define the first release. Estimate concurrent players, choose private, whitelisted or public access, list required scripts and decide which regions contain most players. Start with a realistic target rather than buying capacity for a future community that does not yet exist.
- Shortlist current plans. Open the live plan pages for the five RedM-listed hosts and record recurring price, currency, VAT, included slots, CPU, memory, storage, region, backups, support and cancellation terms in one worksheet.
- Confirm platform prerequisites. Verify RedM compatibility, the required Cfx.re key, RDR2 ownership and any Element Club entitlement. Do not treat an Element Club subscription as a substitute for a server rental.
- Choose a region and capacity. Select the closest practical data center and a plan whose resource allocation fits your scripts. If the provider offers a trial or testing window, use it to measure connection quality from several player locations rather than relying on a marketing claim.
- Deploy the instance. Use the host’s installer or panel. If txAdmin is offered, complete its setup and create a separate administrative account instead of sharing credentials.
- Register and enter the license key. Follow the current Cfx.re process, then paste the key into the host or txAdmin configuration exactly as instructed. Never publish the key in a public repository or chat channel.
- Set identity and limits. Configure the server hostname, maximum slots, endpoint settings and administrator permissions. PineRiver’s September 2026 guide identifies hostname and maximum slots as panel settings, but labels and locations vary by provider.
- Install resources incrementally. Add the framework and essential resources first, restart, and inspect console logs. Add maps, scripts and voice components one group at a time so a faulty resource is easy to identify.
- Set scheduled operations. Configure restart windows, update policy, automated backups and retention. Export a copy of the database and configuration before major framework or resource upgrades.
- Run a closed test. Invite a small group to test joining, character creation, inventory, jobs, voice, permissions, crashes and reconnects. Record timestamps and logs for every failure before opening the server publicly.
Provider-specific evidence available today
GPORTAL
GPORTAL is one of the five partners named on RedM’s official hosting page. The available evidence does not provide a current RedM plan price, guaranteed resources, location list, backup policy, support coverage or cancellation rule that can be compared fairly with the other four. Treat it as a candidate for live-plan checking, not as a verified value or performance leader.
Shockbyte
Shockbyte also appears on the official RedM partner list. Before ordering, confirm that the product is specifically suitable for RedM, identify the included slot range and resource allocation, and read the terms for backups, support and cancellation. No independent cross-provider benchmark is established here.
Nodecraft
Nodecraft is listed by RedM as a hosting partner. Compare its current billing total and administration tools with the alternatives, paying particular attention to whether a move to another region or higher slot count changes the contract. The evidence available for this article does not support a performance, uptime or cheapest claim.

ZAP-Hosting
ZAP-Hosting is the fifth provider named on RedM’s official page. Verify its current RedM product rather than assuming that a general game-server plan has the same controls. Confirm slots, hardware, region, backup restoration, support response, billing term and cancellation policy before comparing its total cost.
Operating a server after launch
Watch resource pressure
Track CPU and memory during peak sessions, not only while testing alone. A rising tick time, delayed interactions or repeated resource warnings can indicate that scripts or entity counts are exceeding the plan’s practical capacity even when the nominal slot limit has not been reached. Remove or optimize the offending resource before simply buying more slots.
Control updates
Automatic updates can reduce maintenance, but an update may alter framework behavior or break a custom resource. Keep a dated backup, read change notes, and test on a private instance before applying a major update to the public server. If a host offers only an immediate update switch, create your own restore point first.
Recommended Free Tools
Plan for failure
Document the panel login path, Cfx.re key ownership, DNS or endpoint settings, database credentials and restore procedure in a secure password manager. A backup that has never been restored is only an assumption, so perform a test restore before launch and after changing providers.
Protect the community
Use separate administrator roles, enable logging, restrict sensitive commands and publish rules before opening access. DDoS protection helps with network attacks, but it does not prevent compromised administrator accounts, malicious resources or database mistakes.
Optional server monetization
RedM’s official page identifies Tebex as a monetization partner. A Tebex server store is optional, not a requirement for hosting. If you sell cosmetic items, queue priority or other benefits, publish clear rules, keep records of transactions and make sure each offer complies with the current platform and game policies. xREALM advertises Tebex integration, but integration details and any extra cost must be confirmed with the provider and Tebex.
A practical decision checklist
- Private friends server: prioritize a simple panel, predictable restarts, low fixed cost and a nearby region. Do not pay for large public capacity you will not use.
- Whitelisted roleplay project: prioritize reliable backups, database access, script-friendly resources, role-based administration and a clear migration path.
- Growing public community: compare CPU and memory guarantees, upgrade mechanics, DDoS scope, support coverage and the total cost of higher Element Club capacity.
- Large-scale ambition: validate the practical workload with a staged test. The published ceiling of up to 1,024 slots for Platinum with OneSync Infinity is a platform entitlement, not proof that any particular host, script set or region can sustain that population.
- Hands-on administrator: self-hosting may provide more control, but budget time for operating-system updates, port and firewall work, monitoring, backups and uptime response.
- Small team with limited operations time: managed hosting and txAdmin reduce routine infrastructure work, while the contract and backup terms determine how much risk you actually transfer.
Verdict
The defensible 2026 answer is not a single provider ranking. RedM officially lists GPORTAL, Shockbyte, Nodecraft, xREALM and ZAP-Hosting, giving you a focused shortlist for current plan research. Choose the host whose verified total cost, resources, region, administration tools, backups and support match your actual community; treat xREALM’s feature list and all other provider marketing as claims to confirm, not measured results. Keep Element Club fees separate from server rent, and never confuse Red Dead Online connection guidance with RedM server networking.
