One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchThe best tool depends on how you want the channel to run: use Restream for a scheduled, finite playlist event; StreamYard for one scheduled prerecorded video; and a continuous-playout option such as StreamNeo if you want a YouTube channel to keep looping videos around the clock. These workflows are not interchangeable: a scheduled broadcast ends, while 24/7 playout needs an encoder or a cloud service to keep sending video.
Choose a tool by the kind of automation you need
| What you want to automate | Best-fit option | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| A playlist that starts at a set time and ends | Restream | Build and schedule an ordered playlist of prerecorded videos as one event, subject to its playlist limits and eligible add-on tier. |
| One recording that starts at a set time and ends when it finishes | StreamYard | Schedule a prerecorded broadcast to start automatically, even when the host is offline. |
| A channel that stays live continuously | StreamNeo, or a local encoder or self-managed server | Keep a prerecorded feed going through continuous playout. StreamNeo says its cloud service supports looping and playlists; this is a first-party product claim, not independent reliability testing. |
When comparing options, check the run pattern, where playback runs, playlist limits, whether items can be changed after starting, destination support, recovery behavior, and the applicable plan. A scheduled playlist feature does not by itself establish that a service can loop content indefinitely.

Best for scheduled playlist events: Restream
Restream’s Help Center article, published July 25, 2026, documents a workflow for choosing or uploading videos, ordering them, adding graphics, captions or QR codes, previewing the playlist, and scheduling it. It is the clearest fit here when you need a finite playlist event rather than an always-on channel.
Playlist limits and plan details
Restream says a playlist can run up to 24 hours and contain up to 40 entries, including duplicated files. Playlists are available on its Upload & Stream add-on tiers. The same Restream page lists these plan snapshots:

| Restream add-on tier | Listed price on July 25, 2026 | Video library limit | Resolution limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marathon | $79/month | 4 hours | Up to 1080p |
| Media | $239/month | 12 hours | Up to 4K |
Prices and plan terms can change, so verify the current offer before subscribing. A playlist may be longer than an individual tier’s library limit only if the actual plan and workflow allow it; check the current plan details rather than assuming the 24-hour playlist ceiling is also your storage allowance.
Important event behavior
- After a playlist goes live, Restream says you cannot add, remove, or reorder videos; graphics and chat can still be changed.
- Back-to-back playlists are sent as separate streams with a two-minute buffer, not as one seamless stream.
- Restream says a playlist cannot mix prerecorded entries with live content.
- The cited help page documents scheduled playlists, but does not establish perpetual looping.
For the official workflow and current restrictions, see Restream’s playlist help article.
Best for one scheduled recording: StreamYard
StreamYard’s prerecorded feature is designed for a selected video that starts at a scheduled time and ends when playback finishes. It suits a one-off or scheduled prerecorded broadcast, not a continuous playlist loop.

Plan-dependent limits and presentation trade-offs
| Plan | Maximum prerecorded video length stated by StreamYard |
|---|---|
| Core | 2 hours |
| Advanced | 4 hours |
| Team | 8 hours |
| Business | 8 hours |
StreamYard says prerecorded broadcasts on paid plans stream at up to 1080p. Scheduling horizons and the number of simultaneous events vary by plan; consult its current plan terms for those limits.
- Without an announcement post, the destination watch link does not appear until the stream is live. If an announcement is scheduled, the shareable YouTube link appears at the announcement time.
- The prerecorded broadcast runs automatically outside the live studio, so overlays, media assets and on-stream comments are unavailable in this mode.
See StreamYard’s prerecorded streaming documentation for current plan and workflow details.
Best for an unattended 24/7 YouTube channel: StreamNeo
StreamNeo is #1 among the continuous-playout options covered here because it runs from the cloud, supports uploaded videos and playlists at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and includes a free first day. It is a YouTube-only service for playing uploaded videos, not for going live from a camera. These capabilities are described by StreamNeo itself, not independently tested.

StreamNeo’s model is simple: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Its cloud service loops the uploaded content, so your computer and home internet connection do not need to stay on. Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team. The uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps; there are no quality tiers. The same product is included on each plan; only the billing length changes.

How to keep a prerecorded YouTube stream running yourself
YouTube does not provide a built-in function to turn an uploaded video into a looping live RTMP feed. A local encoder or a server must send that feed. StreamNeo’s guide describes the do-it-yourself paths as running OBS on a computer or ffmpeg on a server; these keep playout under your control, but the machine and connection must remain available. This section explains the decisions you need to make; exact menus and commands depend on your operating system, encoder version, and media files.

- Prepare the content and rights. Use videos you own or are authorized to stream. Check that the file plays correctly from beginning to end, including its audio, and decide whether the program is a single loop or an ordered playlist.
- Create a YouTube live stream. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and copy its stream key. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Do not publish it in a video, chat, or screenshot.
- Configure the encoder. Select the prepared video or playlist as the source, choose the YouTube stream key as the destination credential, and set output options that your upload connection and source can sustain. Confirm the encoder’s loop or playlist behavior before starting; settings and names vary by encoder.
- Start the feed and verify it in YouTube Studio. Check the preview and audio before making the stream public. Confirm that the displayed content, title and description accurately identify prerecorded programming.
- Keep the sending system running and monitor it. With a computer-based encoder, prevent sleep and maintain power and network access. With a self-managed server, maintain the process, media files, network and restart behavior yourself. If the source or connection stops, the feed may stop too.
For a fuller explanation of the three approaches, see StreamNeo’s guide to looping a video on YouTube Live. It is vendor-authored guidance; it is not independent testing.
Or let it run in the cloud
Upload a recording or playlist to StreamNeo, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; your upload streams at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot; and StreamNeo says it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Start a StreamNeo free day.
Before you automate: rights, presentation and monetization
Automation handles delivery; it does not provide rights to the video or guarantee monetization. StreamNeo’s policy explainer separates the risks into copyright and rights, misleading presentation, spam or manipulation, and monetization eligibility. Its interpretation of YouTube’s public rules is that there is no blanket ban on looping content the operator owns or is authorized to use, but that does not mean every loop, channel or presentation will comply or qualify for monetization. This is vendor-authored guidance, not legal advice; check YouTube’s current Community Guidelines and YouTube Partner Program monetization policies.

- Keep metadata and channel behavior accurate and useful; automation does not remove the need to follow YouTube’s rules.
- Assess stream delivery and monetization eligibility separately. A stream that successfully runs is not thereby approved for monetization.

Which option should you choose?
- Choose Restream when you need to schedule an ordered, finite playlist and its documented entry, duration, library and plan limits fit your event.
- Choose StreamYard when the job is one scheduled prerecorded broadcast with an unattended start and finish, and its plan’s duration and presentation limits are acceptable.
- Choose StreamNeo when you want a YouTube channel to run continuously from uploaded videos without keeping a computer or self-managed server online.
- Choose a local encoder or server when you specifically want to manage the playout system yourself and can keep its hardware, connection and process running.
If you are estimating setup time or comparing the cost of keeping a PC online with cloud playout, StreamNeo provides an upload-time calculator and a cloud vs PC cost calculator.
