The best Pixel Buds Pro 2 alternative depends on which phone you use and which features matter most. The Sony WF-1000XM6 is the strongest premium Android-first pick in the current comparison; choose Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) if noise cancellation is your priority, or Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro if you need multipoint connections across several devices. iPhone users should also consider AirPods Pro 3, while Samsung owners may prefer Galaxy Buds3 Pro—but neither platform gets every feature from every brand.
What to check before replacing Pixel Buds Pro 2
Pixel Buds Pro 2 can pair manually with devices that support Bluetooth 4.0 or newer, according to Google’s pairing and compatibility guidance. That does not mean every feature works on every phone: Google says full feature access requires a companion phone running Android 6.0 or newer, a Google Account and an internet connection.

Likewise, earbuds that pair with both Android and iPhone may offer different codecs, app controls or switching behavior depending on the phone. Pixel Buds Pro 2 can automatically switch between two recent devices when Multipoint or Audio switching is enabled. Across other brands, account requirements and ecosystem-specific features can limit the same convenience.
- Phone ecosystem: Check which functions are available in the companion app on your phone, not just whether Bluetooth pairing works.
- Codec support: LDAC, LC3 and proprietary codecs work only when the source device and earbuds support the relevant codec.
- Fit and comfort: Ear shape and personal preference matter; try the fit or check the retailer’s return policy where practical.
- Current price and availability: Retail prices and stock change, so compare them at purchase time rather than relying on a fixed value ranking.
Best alternatives by priority
| Priority | Model | Why it fits | Important caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premium Android flexibility | Sony WF-1000XM6 | RTINGS names it its best Android pick and highlights its 10-band EQ and support for LDAC and LC3 on compatible Android hardware. | RTINGS cautions that the shape may not suit everyone and the housing may feel cheap for the category. Codec benefits require compatible hardware. |
| Noise cancellation | Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) | TechRadar names them its best noise-cancelling earbuds; Bose lists adjustable ANC and wireless charging. | Check fit and current price before buying. Battery-life figures are manufacturer or reviewer claims, not a guarantee of your results. |
| Several connected devices | Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro | RTINGS reports multipoint for up to three simultaneous connections and LDAC support. | Whether it is good value depends on the current retail price; LDAC needs a compatible source device. |
| Lower-mid-range option | Nothing Ear (3) | Included in RTINGS’ current Android-earbud guide. | That guide listing alone does not establish a current price or availability advantage. |
| Samsung phone owner | Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro | RTINGS compares them directly with Pixel Buds Pro 2 and describes a broadly similar feature set. | Samsung Seamless Codec is limited to supported Samsung devices; seamless switching requires a Samsung account. The comparison was updated June 15, 2026, so check for a newer Samsung generation before choosing. |
| iPhone or Apple household | Apple AirPods Pro 3 | TechRadar notes extras for newer iPhone owners, making them a relevant option if your devices are in Apple’s ecosystem. | The reviewed sources do not establish detailed Android feature limitations, so check the specific features you need before buying for Android use. |
Which alternative should you choose?
Choose Sony WF-1000XM6 for Android customization
RTINGS’ Android guide, updated September 4, 2026, names the WF-1000XM6 its best Android option. Its 10-band EQ gives you room to adjust the sound, while LDAC and LC3 support can be useful with compatible Android phones. Those codec names are not automatic upgrades on every device, and the fit and material feel are potential trade-offs rather than universal strengths.

Choose Bose QC Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) when ANC leads
TechRadar’s September 30, 2026 guide calls the second-generation QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds its best noise-cancelling pick. TechRadar reports six hours from the earbuds and 24 hours total with the case; Bose’s product page independently lists six hours of battery life, IPX4, Bluetooth 5.3, USB-C and wireless charging. These are stated specifications and claims, not a promise of runtime under every listening setup. See Bose’s QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) specifications.
Choose Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro for multipoint
If you regularly move between a phone and a laptop, RTINGS reports the Liberty 5 Pro can maintain up to three simultaneous multipoint connections, including two phones and a laptop. It also supports LDAC on compatible hardware. Its practical value depends on the price you find and whether your devices support the features you want.

Choose Galaxy Buds3 Pro only with the Samsung caveat in mind
Galaxy Buds3 Pro are a sensible comparison for Samsung phone owners, but some advantages are ecosystem-bound. RTINGS’ comparison, updated June 15, 2026, says Samsung Seamless Codec is restricted to supported Samsung devices and seamless switching requires a Samsung account. Because that comparison is not newer than June 2026, check Samsung’s current lineup before settling on this model.
