What’s actually slowing this PC down?

For the Valor Mortis demo, start with the quality preset, then adjust one setting at a time: try an available upscaler in Quality mode if performance needs help, lower demanding effects such as ray tracing if necessary, and use frame generation only when the game already feels responsive. These are provisional starting points based on reported demo options—not tested settings or a promise of a particular frame rate. Confirm the options in your build, since they may change for the October 13, 2026 release.
What are the best PC settings for Valor Mortis?
There is no verified universal best preset or resolution for the game. A useful starting point is the quality preset reported in a third-party guide based on the demo menu, followed by small, reversible adjustments. That approach helps you see which change matters on your PC without assuming a setting will deliver a particular FPS.

- Choose the quality preset. Treat it as a baseline, not a performance guarantee.
- Check how the game feels during combat. If it is not responsive enough, adjust one control at a time and reassess in comparable gameplay.
- Try an available upscaler at Quality. Move to a more performance-oriented mode only if you still need more headroom and accept the possible image-quality trade-off.
- Reduce demanding effects if needed. Ray tracing is a reasonable setting to test turning down when performance takes priority.
- Set motion blur to taste. Turning it off may make enemy wind-ups easier to read, according to a guide; this is a readability preference, not a demonstrated performance fix.
The option names and availability above are provisional. A third-party demo guide reports a quality preset, window mode, resolution and resolution scale, upscalers, frame-rate limit, V-Sync, ray tracing, motion blur, FSR 3 frame generation, and AMD Anti-Lag 2. Check the menus in your own build before following a specific path. (PCGamesN’s reported demo settings)

If native rendering does not meet your performance needs, first check which upscalers are actually offered in your build. The third-party guide reports NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, Intel XeSS, and Unreal TSR. The sources do not establish a game-specific image-quality ranking, performance gain, or ideal resolution for these options.

- Powered by NVIDIA DLSS 3, ultra-efficient Ada Lovelace architechture, and full ray tracing
- 4th Generation Tensor Cores: Up to 4x performance with DLSS 3
- 3rd Generation RT Cores: Up to 2x ray tracing performance
- Powered by GeForce RTX 4070
- Integrated with 12GB GDDR6X 192-bit memory interface
- Begin with Quality mode when available. It is a sensible first test if you want to retain image clarity while reducing rendering load.
- Try a more performance-oriented mode only as needed. Upscaling generally involves a clarity-versus-rendering-load trade-off; judge the result in motion and at your display’s resolution.
- Change resolution or resolution scale only after checking the upscaler. These are reported demo controls, but there is no verified Valor Mortis resolution recommendation.
Make one change at a time so you can tell whether the difference is useful. There are no attributable game-specific benchmarks here to support promised FPS gains or a single recommended setting.
Should you use frame generation?
Consider frame generation only after the underlying game already feels responsive. The demo guide reports FSR 3 frame generation, while NVIDIA has announced planned DLSS 4 support at launch, including Frame Generation for RTX 40 Series and Multi Frame Generation for RTX 50 Series. Availability in a particular demo build depends on its implementation and hardware.

Frame generation can improve perceived smoothness, but the guide cautions that it does not reduce input latency. If controls feel sluggish before enabling it, do not treat generated frames as a fix for responsiveness. Test it only if the option is present and compare how combat feels, not just how fluid motion appears.

When should you lower ray tracing or other effects?
NVIDIA announced that Valor Mortis is planned to launch with DLSS 4 technologies, including Ray Reconstruction for ray-traced reflections and lighting. That announcement does not confirm that every feature appears in the current demo. The available sources also do not measure ray tracing’s performance cost in this game.

- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
If you need more performance, test turning ray tracing off or lowering its setting if the menu permits it. Keep it enabled if you prefer the visual result and your system handles it comfortably. This is a visual-fidelity-versus-performance choice, not a quantified optimization. The third-party guide also reports motion blur; disabling it is a preference-based way to favor combat readability, not a measured speed improvement.
What PC hardware do the published requirements describe?
Steam currently lists the following as demo requirements and says the specifications may change before the final release. They are hardware baselines, not guarantees of a resolution, preset, or frame rate. (Valor Mortis on Steam)

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow to tune settings without guessing
- Start from the reported quality preset and note how responsive combat feels.
- If you need better performance, test an available upscaler in Quality mode first.
- If that is insufficient, try a more performance-oriented upscaling mode or reduce ray tracing, one change at a time.
- Evaluate frame generation separately, and only when the base experience already feels responsive.
- Keep or disable motion blur according to which presentation helps you read combat.
Repeat the same kind of gameplay after each adjustment. Because no reproducible Valor Mortis benchmark results are available, this process is more reliable than treating any preset as a guaranteed answer.
