Best PC Settings for Sonic X Shadow Generations: Graphics, Resolution, and FPS

SEGA’s PC baseline for Sonic X Shadow Generations is High at 1080p and 60 FPS. Here’s how to adapt resolution and graphics settings without mistaking system targets for guaranteed performance.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For a PC near SEGA’s recommended specifications, start with High graphics, 1080p, and a 60 FPS target. SEGA lists that as its recommended system target—not a guarantee of 60 FPS on every computer or in every scene. Use your display’s native resolution when performance allows, then reduce image quality or rendering scale in small steps if frame delivery is unstable.

Recommended PC settings to start with

SEGA’s Steam listing pairs High settings at 1080p and 60 FPS with its recommended hardware. Treat that as the publisher’s reference point for choosing settings, not as a benchmark or a promise about your particular PC. The listing does not provide GPU-by-GPU frame-rate results.

  • Graphics quality: High, if your PC is at or near SEGA’s recommended specifications.
  • Resolution: Your monitor’s native resolution when performance permits. SEGA’s published recommended target is 1080p.
  • Frame-rate goal: Aim for 60 FPS in gameplay. This is the recommended target in SEGA’s listing, not an officially stated maximum gameplay cap.

SEGA’s Steam system requirements list the following hardware targets:

Target SEGA’s listed specifications Listed graphics target
Minimum Windows 10; 64-bit processor and operating system; Intel Core i3-2120 or AMD FX-6300; 8 GB RAM; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti with 1 GB or AMD Radeon HD 5770 with 1 GB; 35.3 GB available storage. An AVX-capable CPU and D3D10-compatible graphics adapter are required to launch. Low at 720p, 30 FPS
Recommended Intel Core i7-2600 or AMD Ryzen 5 1400; 12 GB RAM; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 with 3 GB, AMD Radeon RX 470 with 4 GB, or Intel Arc A310 with 4 GB; 35.3 GB available storage. High at 1080p, 60 FPS

These are system-requirement targets published by SEGA, not controlled test results. Meeting a listed specification does not establish the frame rate you will get in every level or scene.

How to choose resolution, quality, and frame rate

If your display is 1080p

Begin at 1080p and High if your hardware is close to the recommended specifications. A 1080p monitor that supports at least 60 Hz is a reasonable match for the published target; you do not need to replace a monitor that already supports the resolution and refresh rate you want.

If your display is above 1080p

Native resolution usually gives the clearest image on a fixed-resolution display, but it may be harder for a given PC to sustain the desired frame rate. SEGA’s published recommendation is 1080p, while PCGamingWiki’s community-maintained technical entry reports support for 4K output. That reported support is not a promise of 4K at 60 FPS.

  • MSI's 23.8-inch Full HD IPS gaming monitor (1920×1080) delivers a 1500:1 contrast ratio with wide 178°/178° viewing angles — producing deeper blacks, brighter highlights, and accurate colors from virtually any position for gaming and productivity.
  • TÜV Rheinland certified Flicker Free and Low Blue Light — eliminating the ~200Hz screen flicker common on standard monitors and reducing harmful blue light exposure to minimize eye strain during extended gaming or work sessions.
  • 144Hz high refresh rate delivers ultra-smooth motion and sharper tracking versus standard 60Hz or 75Hz monitors — keeping every frame fluid and responsive for fast-paced FPS, racing, and action games without screen tearing or stuttering.
  • MSI's built-in Eye-Q Check provides a vision assessment tool to help optimize display settings for healthier long-term viewing — designed for professionals and students spending extended hours in front of a Full HD IPS screen.
  • Tilt-adjustable stand (-5°~20°) for comfortable viewing at any desk setup, with VESA 100×100mm wall mount compatibility for monitor arms, brackets, and multi-monitor arrangements — reducing neck strain during long gaming or work sessions.

Choose between native resolution and a lower rendering scale by weighing image clarity against frame-rate stability on your own hardware. No controlled benchmark data here establishes a universal best choice or the performance cost of any individual setting.

If performance is unstable

  1. Start from the closest suitable baseline: High and 1080p for a PC near the recommended specifications, or a lower quality target if your system is closer to the minimum.
  2. Change one image-quality setting or the rendering scale at a time, using the options available in your current game menu. Exact settings and labels can vary with the game version.
  3. Replay the same section after each change. Keep the adjustment only if it improves frame-rate stability enough to justify any loss in image quality.
  4. If you are rendering above 1080p, consider reducing rendering scale or output resolution before making several quality changes at once; compare the result on your own display.

This is a practical adjustment method, not a claim that one setting has a measured performance cost. The available sources do not report controlled setting-by-setting tests.

What to know about scaling, anti-aliasing, and cutscenes

PCGamingWiki reports that the game supports FXAA and TAA, and notes FSR 1 behavior in connection with rendering scale. It also reports that FSR is forcefully enabled in that context. These are community-maintained technical notes, not a guarantee that a particular toggle or result will be available in every current version. Check the in-game display options rather than assuming FSR can be switched off there. The same entry describes a Hedge Mod Manager route, but that involves a third-party modification and is not necessary for the baseline settings above.

PCGamingWiki also reports that most in-game cutscenes and pre-rendered videos are locked at 30 FPS. That note concerns those sequences; it is distinct from SEGA’s recommended 60 FPS target and does not establish a maximum frame rate for gameplay.

PC and console display options are not the same

SEGA’s online manual says, “For PC, more detailed display settings are available.” Its description of a graphics-quality or performance choice applies to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Do not assume that PC uses the same two-mode selector; use the display controls actually shown in the PC version.
