For phishing-resistant sign-ins, look for a password manager that saves and autofills passkeys on the devices you use. Passkeys provide the phishing resistance; ordinary password autofill does not. Apple Passwords with iCloud Keychain is a documented fit for Apple devices, while Google Password Manager is a documented option across supported Google contexts. Android also lets you choose third-party passkey providers, including 1Password, Keeper and Samsung Pass, but the available evidence does not establish a complete feature or plan comparison for those products.
What “phishing-resistant autofill” means
Passkeys and password autofill address related but different risks. A passkey uses WebAuthn public-key cryptography: a service stores a public key, while the private key is used to authenticate and is not disclosed to that service. Apple Support describes passkeys as designed without shared secrets and resistant to phishing (About the security of passkeys).

A password manager can also help prevent a password from being entered on the wrong site. Google says Chrome’s password manager matches saved passwords with their intended websites, which helps protect against phishing (How Chrome protects your autofill and password data). That site matching is a useful safeguard, but it does not make a password phishing-proof or equivalent to passkey authentication.
Which password manager fits your devices?
| Option | Documented capabilities | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Passwords and iCloud Keychain | Can autofill passwords and passkeys; iCloud Keychain syncs credentials across approved Apple devices. (Apple Passwords app guide) | On Mac, using Password AutoFill in supported third-party browsers may require an extension. Check your macOS and browser support. |
| Google Password Manager | Google documents saving and autofilling passwords and passkeys, including cross-device use in supported contexts. (Google Android passkey guide; Manage passkeys in Chrome) | Behavior depends on platform, account setup and where the passkey is stored. Some local storage choices do not provide recovery after device loss or Chrome profile deletion. |
| Third-party Android providers | Google lists Samsung Pass, Keeper and 1Password as examples of providers that can store Android passkeys. (Google Android passkey guide) | This listing does not establish a full feature comparison, cross-platform behavior or which features require a paid plan. Check the provider’s current product details. |
These are platform-based choices, not a universal ranking. A manager can only autofill a passkey where the website or app supports passkeys; it cannot add passkey sign-in to a service that does not offer it.
#1 Best Overall
- POWERFUL SECURITY KEY: The Security Key C NFC is the essential physical passkey for protecting your digital life from phishing attacks. It ensures only you can access your accounts.

Set up passkey and password autofill
On iPhone
- Open Settings > General > AutoFill & Passwords.
- Choose the password apps you want to use as autofill sources, then enable password and passkey autofill as needed. Apple says iPhone can use up to three password apps for automatic password filling. (Automatically fill in strong passwords on iPhone)
- For Apple’s built-in option, save credentials in Passwords and use iCloud Keychain to make them available across approved Apple devices. Apple’s Passwords app guide covers autofill and device use.
On Android
- Open Settings > Passwords, passkeys & accounts.
- Select the password manager you want to use and enable it to suggest passkeys. Google says passkeys are saved and synced by the selected manager; available choices include Google Password Manager and supported third-party providers. (Sign in to your applications and websites with passkeys)
- When a supported site or app offers passkey creation or sign-in, follow its prompts and save the passkey with your selected provider.
On Chrome for Windows or macOS
Check where Chrome will store a passkey before relying on it as your only sign-in method. Google documents Windows Hello and Chrome-profile storage as local-only cases: recovery may not be available if the computer is lost or the Chrome profile is deleted. Google Password Manager supports cross-device use in supported setups, while Apple Passwords access on macOS has stated account and consent conditions. See Google’s Chrome passkey guidance for platform-specific details.

Check these details before choosing
- Passkey support: Confirm that the specific website or app supports passkeys, and that the feature works in your browser and operating system.
- Sync: Make sure the manager can make credentials available on the devices you actually use. Sync depends on the selected provider and its supported setup.
- Recovery: Understand what happens if you lose a device or delete a browser profile. A locally stored passkey may not be recoverable through that storage method.
- Password protection: Treat password-to-site matching as a separate defense from passkeys. It can help avoid filling a saved password on the wrong site, but does not make password sign-in phishing-resistant.
- Plan and platform coverage: Verify current feature availability directly with the provider. The documented examples do not establish which commercial features are included in each plan.
