For a strong multiplayer base, use specialists rather than one mixed party: Solenne for Handiwork, Dandilord for Planting and flexible production, Jormuntide for Watering, Orserk for electricity, Silvance for Medicine Production, Celesdir Noct for Lumbering, and Knocklem or Knocklem Ignis for Mining and Transporting. Keep combat Pals in a separate team unless their work-suitability levels are genuinely competitive.

The recommendations below reflect Palworld 1.0 guide and patch-note summaries published in 2026. Several suitability values and tier lists conflict between guides, and no official Pocketpair page was available for the figures cited here. Before spending rare resources, open the Pal’s in-game work-suitability details and verify its current levels on your server version.
Which Pals are best for base work?
The best worker depends on the station, your progression, and whether you value maximum output or fewer workers that can cover several jobs. A level-8 specialist will normally outperform a lower-level generalist at its one task, while a versatile Pal can keep a small multiplayer base running when players are still unlocking infrastructure.

| Job | Primary recommendation | Reported suitability or useful coverage | Alternatives and caveats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Handiwork | Solenne | Base Handiwork 8; reported to reach level 10 only after Pal Condenser ranking | Ribbuny can add +1 Handiwork to other base Pals |
| Planting | Dandilord | Planting plus Handiwork 6 and Medicine Production 6 | Lyleen appears as an alternative in some guides |
| Kindling | Renjishi, according to one guide group | Reported base Kindling 8; also Handiwork 6, Gathering 5 and Transporting 5 | Other guides list Jormuntide Ignis and Blazamut Ryu at level 4, so this category is unsettled |
| Watering | Jormuntide | Usual top recommendation | Shaolong is reported at Watering 8 and Gathering 5 |
| Mining | Choose by stage | Knocklem is reported at Mining 7 | Digtoise is an early option; Aegidron is described as a dedicated ore specialist; Astegon is a later choice. One guide recommends Knocklem Ignis, so check the current lookup |
| Generating Electricity | Orserk | Described as the clear pick | Verify current suitability after balance patches |
| Cooling | Bastigor | Usual recommendation | Frostallion has reported Cooling 7 and only one suitability |
| Medicine Production | Silvance | Reported best base Medicine Production, level 8 | Dandilord provides level 6 Medicine Production while covering other jobs |
| Lumbering | Celesdir Noct | Reported Lumbering level 8 | Verdash covers Lumbering, Handiwork and Transporting at high levels in one guide |
| Transporting | Knocklem Ignis | Usual specialist recommendation | Wumpo is a common alternative and its passive reportedly adds +1 Transporting to all base Pals |
| Gathering | Jetragon | Described as the top Gatherer as well as a mount | Use a dedicated Gatherer only if the resource flow justifies occupying a base slot |
“Best” here means the strongest reported fit for a job, not a guarantee of identical performance on every world. Work speed also depends on station placement, pathing, food, sanity, injuries, sleep, and whether several Pals are competing for the same assignment.
How Palworld 1.0 work suitability changes your choices
Palworld 1.0 is reported to use a 10-level work-suitability system. The summaries disagree about the earlier cap: one says suitability previously ran from levels 1–4, while another describes an expansion from 5 to 10. Treat the historical comparison as uncertain; the practical point is that current Pal ranks can push a suitability substantially higher than an unranked Pal’s displayed value.
Ranking and the Pal Condenser
Ranking up raises one suitability, while max rank raises all of a Pal’s suitabilities. Third-party 1.0 summaries report that max rank now requires 48 duplicate Pals, down from 116. That figure was not confirmed against an official Pocketpair note, so verify the requirement in your own Pal Condenser before releasing or breeding duplicates.

Conversely, feeding 48 copies into a specialist only makes sense when that station is a bottleneck you operate constantly.
Partner Skills that improve other workers
- Ribbuny: its reported Partner Skill gives every other Handiwork Pal in the base an additional Handiwork level.
- Cinnamoth: “Mysterious Scales” is reported to add +1 Farming suitability to other base Pals.
These bonuses are support effects, not replacements for a high-level worker. Put the support Pal where the affected workers actually operate and confirm the bonus appears in the current work panel.
Best general-purpose workers for an expanding multiplayer base
Dandilord: the most versatile named pick
Dandilord is repeatedly named as an overall favorite because it covers Planting, Handiwork and Medicine Production. One summary reports Handiwork 6 and Medicine Production 6 in addition to Planting. That combination lets a small group maintain crops, craft equipment and produce medicine without dedicating three separate slots.
Its flexibility is most useful early and mid-progression, when every base slot matters. Once a large guild has permanent production lines, replace Dandilord with higher-level specialists where one job is consistently waiting.

Anubis: early-to-mid progression utility
Anubis is cited as an all-round choice before endgame with reported Handiwork 6 and Mining 6. That pairing suits a new industrial base: the same Pal can craft at a production station and switch to ore work when construction consumes your stockpile.
Knocklem: mining and hauling coverage
Knocklem is reported at Mining 7 and Transporting 7, making it a practical bridge between extraction and logistics. It is especially useful when multiplayer teammates are building separate production chains and material piles accumulate faster than lower-level haulers can move them.
Verdash and other flexible workers
Verdash is described in one guide as covering Lumbering, Handiwork and Transporting at high levels. It can therefore support a base that alternates between construction and manufacturing, although the cited summary does not establish each exact level. Use the in-game panel to compare it with a level-8 specialist before assigning a permanent role.
Best Pal for each base job
Handiwork: Solenne
Solenne is the consensus Handiwork pick in the 2026 guide summaries, with base Handiwork level 8. It is also the only Pal reported to reach Handiwork level 10 through Pal Condenser ranking. Give Solenne priority at crafting, assembly and other Handiwork stations, especially when several players queue advanced recipes at once.

Ribbuny’s reported +1 Handiwork Partner Skill can raise the effective level of other Handiwork Pals, so it is useful as a support slot in a production-heavy guild. Do not assume the bonus makes a low-level worker equal to Solenne; check the displayed level and actual queue behavior.
Planting: Dandilord, with Lyleen as an alternative
Dandilord is the most consistently named Planting choice and also covers Handiwork and Medicine Production. Lyleen appears as an alternative in some guides. Choose Dandilord when one Pal must cover multiple jobs; choose the higher current Planting value when crop planting is your limiting step.
Kindling: verify before committing rare Pals
Kindling is one of the least settled categories. One guide group lists Jormuntide Ignis and Blazamut Ryu at Kindling level 4. Other guides recommend Renjishi, reported at base Kindling 8, with Handiwork 6, Gathering 5 and Transporting 5. Those claims cannot all describe the same ranking or balance state.

For a shared furnace room, compare the exact Kindling number shown in your world. If Renjishi is still level 8 on your patch, its additional jobs make it a useful general worker; if your version shows a different value, favor the highest current Kindling specialist rather than relying on an old tier list.
Watering: Jormuntide or Shaolong
Jormuntide is the usual Watering recommendation. Shaolong is reported as a level-8 Watering option and also has Gathering 5, giving it more utility when food production and harvesting share the same base. Keep Watering Pals near mills, crushers and plantations so they do not spend their work cycle walking across the settlement.
Mining: use progression and the current lookup
Mining recommendations conflict. Knocklem’s reported Mining 7 makes it a strong general miner. One guide recommends Knocklem Ignis, while another describes Aegidron as a dedicated ore specialist. Digtoise is presented as a good early option, and Astegon as a later choice.
For a new server, Digtoise can fill the gap until the stronger options are available. For an established guild, use the Pal with the highest current Mining level at the ore site and reserve a second worker for Transporting. A miner that extracts quickly but leaves ore on the ground can produce less usable material than a slightly slower miner paired with reliable hauling.
Generating Electricity: Orserk
Orserk is described as the clear electricity-generation pick. Assign it to generators rather than letting it wander between unrelated tasks. In a multiplayer base, place generators close to the power-dependent stations and use a dedicated assignment area so Orserk does not repeatedly abandon the job for a distant resource node.

Bastigor is the usual Cooling recommendation. Frostallion is reported at Cooling 7 and has only one suitability, which can be an advantage: it is less likely to leave a refrigerator or cooling station for another task. Bastigor is the safer default when you want the commonly recommended worker; Frostallion is attractive when a level-7 dedicated cooler is available in your current progression.
Medicine Production: Silvance
Silvance is reported to have the best base Medicine Production value, level 8. Put it on medicine stations during injury-heavy raids or when your guild is converting large quantities of ingredients. Dandilord’s reported level 6 Medicine Production is adequate for a flexible base but should not displace Silvance when medicine production is continuously queued.

Lumbering: Celesdir Noct or Verdash
Celesdir Noct is cited at Lumbering level 8. Verdash is a more flexible alternative with Lumbering, Handiwork and Transporting coverage reported at high levels, although the source summary does not give exact values. Use Celesdir Noct for a dedicated logging operation and Verdash when the same base frequently switches between building, hauling and wood collection.
Transporting: Knocklem Ignis and Wumpo
Knocklem Ignis is the usual specialist recommendation for Transporting. Wumpo is a common alternative; its reported passive adds +1 Transporting suitability to all base Pals. That passive can improve an entire logistics team, but the benefit depends on having several other Pals that actually transport items. If hauling is your only problem, compare Wumpo’s current level with a dedicated Knocklem Ignis assignment.
Gathering: Jetragon
Jetragon is described as the top Gatherer and also serves as a mount. It is a premium choice for players who want one Pal to contribute both outside the base and at a Gathering station. Because a mount may be more valuable in a player’s active party, decide whether the base output justifies leaving Jetragon assigned there.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to staff a multiplayer base without creating idle workers
1. Separate combat parties from production assignments
Create a combat party for exploration and raids, then use the Pal box to assign workers deliberately. A fighter with poor work suitability can look impressive in battle while contributing little at a station. The practical exception is a combat Pal whose displayed work level is genuinely strong for the job you need.
2. Give each production chain a nearby specialist
Group plantations with Watering and Gathering stations, furnaces with Kindling, and ore-processing stations with Mining and Transporting. Shorter paths reduce the time Pals spend walking between jobs. In a guild base, assign one player to watch food and farming, another to mining and hauling, and another to crafting or medicine; this makes it easier to notice when a worker has silently switched tasks.
3. Use flexible Pals for gaps, not permanent bottlenecks
Dandilord, Anubis, Knocklem and Verdash are valuable when your base is changing. Once a station has a permanent queue, replace the flexible worker with the highest verified specialist available. This avoids a common multiplayer failure: one “do-everything” Pal spends its entire day traveling and never finishes the task that any player actually needs.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute4. Protect the base against raid downtime
Base raids are reported to arrive in waves, with enemy levels scaling according to the working Pals at the base. Pals with Handiwork can repair structures without consuming items, and the Repair Kit was removed. Keep at least one capable Handiwork Pal assigned when your group expects raids, and avoid placing every high-value worker in exposed outposts where a wave can interrupt production.

5. Review assignments after every major unlock
New stations change the value of a worker. When your guild unlocks a new production tier, inspect each Pal’s current suitability, move the highest-level specialist to the longest queue, and reserve multi-role Pals for jobs that would otherwise sit empty. Suitability values were reportedly rebalanced for 1.0, so a list made before the July 10, 2026 1.0 release (update 1.100.427 in multiple patch-note summaries) may no longer be accurate.
Suggested rosters by progression stage
Early and mid progression
- Use Anubis for Handiwork and Mining when both crafting and ore demand are growing.
- Use Dandilord to cover Planting while helping with Handiwork or Medicine Production.
- Use Digtoise for early Mining if higher-tier options are unavailable.
- Reserve a dedicated Watering Pal near food production instead of asking a generalist to cross the entire base.
This stage rewards coverage. A small multiplayer settlement generally benefits more from four Pals that keep every essential station active than from one endgame specialist who can perform only a task you have not unlocked.
Late-game and specialist production
- Move Handiwork queues to Solenne and add Ribbuny when several Handiwork Pals can benefit from its reported Partner Skill.
- Use Silvance for Medicine Production, Celesdir Noct for Lumbering and Orserk for electricity.
- Use Jormuntide for Watering, Bastigor or Frostallion for Cooling, and Knocklem or Knocklem Ignis for Mining and Transporting according to the current in-game levels.
- Keep Jetragon at the base only when its Gathering output is worth giving up its mount or combat availability.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
Relying on a tier list without checking the patch
Kindling, Mining and Cooling have conflicting recommendations in 2026 guide summaries. The fix is simple: open the Pal’s work-suitability panel on your own server and compare the displayed level before using rare capture, breeding or Condenser resources.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Putting every good Pal in one base
Multiplayer groups often split players between an industrial headquarters and resource outposts. A single base filled with excellent workers can still leave another base unable to farm, cool food or move materials. Assign specialists according to the stations that are actually active at each location.
Ignoring Transporting
Mining and logging numbers do not equal usable inventory if materials remain beside the node. Pair miners and lumberers with Knocklem Ignis, Knocklem, Wumpo or another verified hauler, and watch whether finished items reach storage before adding another extractor.
Using a fighter as a worker because it is high level
Combat level and work suitability answer different questions. A powerful fighter with weak suitability may be slower than a less valuable Pal at a station. Keep combat-focused Pals off production unless their work levels are strong.
Max-ranking without a bottleneck
The reported 48-copy max-rank requirement is a major investment even after the reduction from 116. Rank a Pal when its improved suitability will remove a real queue or when its Partner Skill benefits the whole base; do not spend duplicates merely to make the roster look complete.

No available guide summary identifies a separate “multiplayer-only” best worker. The same job suitability rules apply, but coordination changes the decision. Shared bases have more simultaneous queues, more stored materials and more frequent construction interruptions, so Transporting, flexible coverage and clear station zoning become more valuable.
Palworld 1.0 multiplayer summaries mention optional voice chat on dedicated servers, guild ranks with rank-gated guild buildings, Discord integration and broader server-safety systems. Exact rank names and building lists were not established in those summaries, so do not use an unverified rank requirement to plan your worker roster. The reliable multiplayer strategy is to assign jobs by station, keep a shared reserve of flexible Pals, and communicate who is changing the base layout.
A practical decision checklist
- What is blocking progress? Choose the highest verified suitability for that station first.
- Do you need flexibility? Prefer Dandilord, Anubis, Knocklem or Verdash when several jobs are active but none has a long queue.
- Can a Partner Skill help the whole base? Consider Ribbuny for Handiwork or Cinnamoth for Farming when enough affected workers are present.
- Is the pick disputed? Recheck Kindling, Mining and Cooling in the in-game lookup rather than following an old tier list.
- Will ranking pay off? Reserve Condenser investment for a station that runs continuously or for a support effect used by many workers.
- Can materials reach storage? Add or reposition Transporting Pals before increasing extraction.
- Will a raid interrupt the line? Keep a capable Handiwork Pal available for structure repairs and avoid exposing your entire production workforce.
Bottom line for a shared 2026 base
Start with Dandilord, Anubis and Knocklem for broad coverage, then specialize as your multiplayer settlement grows. Solenne is the strongest reported Handiwork choice; Jormuntide handles Watering; Orserk handles electricity; Silvance handles medicine; Celesdir Noct handles Lumbering; and Knocklem Ignis is the usual Transporting pick. Kindling, Mining and Cooling require the most caution because guide recommendations disagree. Since suitability values can change with patches and all specific figures here come from secondhand 2026 summaries, the final authority is the work-suitability display on your own Pal and server version.
