Star Wars Zero Company has no official universal operator ranking. This tier list is an editorial guide to the named operators and their signature traits—not a claim that one fixed squad is best for every mission. It reflects the information available as of October 11, 2026, and prioritizes broad usefulness across campaign missions, with extra value for action economy, reliable damage, squad support, and survivability. Your loadout, difficulty, mission objectives, and squad bonds can change the order.
How to read this tier list
The game lets players customize characters’ loadouts and abilities, and its squad bonds can unlock combat synergies. So a named operator’s rank is not the same as a class ranking: a signature talent, weapon, or restricted specialization may set that operator apart, while a selectable specialization can be reassigned. This list ranks named operators by their potential contribution when built to complement their fixed traits; it does not rank every specialization as if it were permanently tied to one character.

Combat turns give each operator three action points to spend on movement, attacks, and abilities. That makes abilities that improve damage, defense, or team efficiency particularly valuable, but the best choice depends on whether a mission calls for focused damage, group control, or staying power. Difficulty is adjustable outside combat, so support and defensive value can matter more when mistakes are costly. StarWars.com’s game overview and its gameplay guide describe these fundamentals.
The tiers below are practical recommendations, not official ratings. Secondary guides offer useful but differing evaluations: one specialist ranking assesses operators and classes, while PC Gamer’s August 27, 2026 starting-class guide recommends Scoundrel for its vulnerability, defense-penetration, and assist-synergy strengths. Neither establishes a universal best character or build. PC Gamer’s starting-class guide also notes that specialization can be changed from Cycle 3.

Operator tier list
This ranking is intentionally cautious: the available sources do not establish verified, comparable details for every operator’s signature talent, weapon, and specialization. Rather than assign unsupported precision, it separates operators with a clear recommendation basis from those whose relative placement needs confirmation in the current game build.
| Tier | Operator | Why they belong here |
|---|---|---|
| S | None assigned | The available sources do not establish enough verified, comparable operator-specific mechanics to justify a top-tier claim. |
| A | None assigned | No named operator can be placed here confidently without verified signature-talent, weapon, and specialization details. |
| B | None assigned | This is not a judgment that the roster lacks useful options; the evidence does not support a fair operator-by-operator comparison. |
| Unranked pending in-game verification | Tesh Hawks, Trick, Jae Mordant, Kabb Uppercut, Luco Bronc, Cly Kullervo, Tel-Rea Vokoss | A secondary operator reference lists these names, but its details are not confirmed here well enough to rank their mechanics or overall usefulness. TheGamer’s operator reference is a roster cross-check, not an official ranking. |
An empty S–B list is more useful than inventing rankings from names alone: verify the operator’s actual in-game kit, then apply the evaluation framework below. In particular, do not mistake a strong specialization for proof that every operator using it is equally strong, or that an operator with a narrower role is weak.

What makes an operator valuable
Action economy and reliability
With three AP per operator turn, a talent that enables an ally, improves an attack, or creates a useful follow-up can be worth more than raw damage that consumes the whole turn. Assess whether an ability’s AP cost and cooldown let the operator contribute consistently, and whether its effect depends on a hit, a target condition, or a teammate’s setup.
Damage and target profile
Separate focused damage from efficiency against groups. A single-target specialist can be the right answer to an elite or other priority target while offering less value when enemies are clustered. Consider whether the operator can reliably exploit vulnerability or defense penetration and whether another teammate can set up that attack.
Rank #3
- Command an elite squad through a gritty and authentic Star Wars story set in the twilight of the Clone Wars. Step into the role of Hawks, a former Republic officer leading Zero Company against an emerging threat that could consume the galaxy.
Advantage, support, and survivability
Team effects can change the value of an operator: enabling an ally or helping generate squad Advantage may improve the whole turn rather than one character’s output. Defensive or healing tools become more attractive when a difficult mission or injuries make survival the limiting factor. These are situational strengths, not automatic evidence of a higher tier.
Fixed traits versus flexible builds
When comparing two operators, check the in-game descriptions for each character’s signature talent, weapon, and any specialization restrictions. Then compare the specialization’s AP cost, cooldown, damage or support effect, and fit with the operator’s fixed traits. A class’s strength alone cannot settle the operator comparison if one character uses it more effectively or has better team synergy.

Choosing a starting build
If you are new and want a damage-oriented starting direction, PC Gamer’s August 27, 2026 guide recommends Scoundrel, citing vulnerability, defense penetration, and assist synergy. Treat that as a starting-class recommendation, not a ranking of named operators or a guarantee for every squad. The guide says specialization can be changed from Cycle 3, so an early choice need not define the full campaign. Check the guide’s advice against your current version and the role your squad needs.

When this ranking may change
Customization, difficulty, campaign progress, mission objectives, injuries, and squad bonds can all alter which operator is most useful. Patches or newly established builds can also change the practical ordering. Recheck current in-game ability descriptions before committing to a role, and use a tier list as a starting point for squad planning rather than a substitute for mission-specific choices.
