For a Hindi radio livestream with a mostly static visual, start in OBS with 1280×720 at 30 fps, H.264, CBR at 6,000 kbps, a 2-second keyframe interval, and stereo AAC at 128 kbps / 44.1 kHz. YouTube lists 6 Mbps as the recommended H.264 bitrate for 720p30 and 3 Mbps as the minimum. These are practical starting settings for a low-motion radio show—not a special Hindi-language requirement.
Recommended OBS settings for a Hindi radio show
Use this baseline when the stream is audio-led and the image is a logo, title card, or other simple visual. YouTube’s ingest recommendations are the same regardless of whether the spoken language is Hindi; the best profile depends on the picture, encoder, and connection.

See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance and the OBS settings overview for the current platform and application guidance. YouTube also lists H.265/HEVC and AV1 as ingest codecs, but the choices available depend on your encoder hardware and software. Do not reuse the H.264 720p30 bitrate for a different codec, resolution, or frame rate.
Set up the stream in OBS

Choose the video size and frame rate
In OBS, open Settings → Video. Set the output (scaled) resolution to 1280×720 and the common FPS value to 30. Keep the base canvas appropriate for your visual sources. If you use a higher-resolution canvas, OBS can downscale the output; the output resolution is the size sent to YouTube.

Configure streaming output
Open Settings → Output and select Advanced output mode if needed to expose the streaming controls. Choose an H.264 encoder that your system supports. Set rate control to CBR, bitrate to 6000 Kbps, and keyframe interval to 2 s. Encoder labels and available options vary by OBS version and hardware. If H.264 is unavailable or your system cannot encode reliably, use an available supported encoder and follow YouTube’s bitrate guidance for that codec and your chosen resolution and frame rate.

Set audio format and levels
In Settings → Audio, set the sample rate to 44.1 kHz and use stereo. In the streaming audio output settings, choose AAC at 128 Kbps. Where your audio interface allows it, match its sample rate to OBS to avoid a preventable mismatch. Check that speech and music are audible and not clipping in the OBS meters and in the YouTube preview.

Connect OBS to YouTube securely
In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and copy its stream key into OBS’s stream setup. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send video to your channel. Prefer the RTMPS server option when it is offered by both YouTube and your encoder. Do not publish the key or include it in screenshots.

Run an unlisted test and monitor it
Create an unlisted test stream with the actual Hindi speech, representative music, and the visual you plan to use. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before going public. YouTube advises testing before starting and continuously monitoring audio and video quality. This test can reveal dropped frames, unstable upload, excessive audio level, or a mismatch between the OBS output and what viewers receive.

Choose bitrate and frame rate around your real connection
The 6 Mbps recommendation is YouTube’s target for H.264 720p30, not a guarantee that a connection can sustain it. Run an upload speed test, then test the stream under realistic conditions. A speed-test peak is not proof of stable upload capacity throughout a broadcast, so leave headroom rather than planning around the maximum reading.
- If the connection or encoder struggles: reduce output resolution and bitrate together to a combination YouTube supports, then retest. Do not keep 720p30 at 6 Mbps if it produces interruptions.
- If your visual is mostly still: 30 fps is a sensible starting point. A 60 fps stream brings little benefit to a static logo or title card.
- If the visual has meaningful motion: compare 30 and 60 fps only if your device and connection can handle the higher rate. YouTube publishes different bitrate recommendations by frame rate.
- If you change codec or resolution: consult YouTube’s table for that exact combination; its bitrate recommendations vary by codec, resolution, and frame rate.
Hindi radio livestream eligibility and music rights
OBS settings do not grant permission to broadcast a song. YouTube’s livestream terms require the broadcaster to have the necessary rights for use on Google services, including music licensing and relevant territory requirements. YouTube states: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Read the YouTube Terms of Service before streaming music.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder; if the material continues, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. Even licensed music can trigger a disruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID. Confirm the license covers live streaming and ask the rights holder whether channel allowlisting is required. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
- Use public-domain music or music for which you have permission covering the intended livestream use.
- A “free” label by itself does not prevent a Content ID claim or interruption.
- YouTube points creators to the Audio Library, original music, Creator Music where available, and third-party catalogs; check the terms for the exact track and use.
- Do not assume that a track allowed in an ordinary video is allowed in a radio livestream: Creator Music restrictions can exclude live streams.

Troubleshoot common stream problems
