It combines endpoint management with compliance and security policy. ManageEngine Endpoint Central is the stronger all-in-one option when patching, software distribution, remote support, asset management and vulnerability remediation must sit in one suite. Managed service providers (MSPs) should also compare RMM products such as ImmyBot, ConnectWise Automate and Datto RMM, but must verify current pricing, tenant controls and integrations before switching.
Which NinjaOne alternative should you evaluate first?
Your existing stack and operating model should determine the shortlist:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Microsoft Intune: Start here if Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Defender are already central to identity and security. Intune brings device policy, patching, compliance, reporting and endpoint-security controls into that ecosystem.
- ManageEngine Endpoint Central: Choose this when you want one broad endpoint-operations suite with published edition pricing, third-party application distribution, remote troubleshooting, asset management, UEM functions and vulnerability remediation.
- MSP-focused RMM products: Evaluate ImmyBot, ConnectWise Automate, Datto RMM and other RMM platforms when multi-tenant administration, PSA integration and per-endpoint economics matter more than a single-vendor security stack.
There is no universal one-for-one replacement. Patch depth, vulnerability workflow, remote operations, commercial model and ecosystem fit differ substantially between products.
How to compare NinjaOne alternatives
Use the same six questions for every demonstration and proof of concept:
- Endpoint scope: Does it manage your desktops, laptops, servers and mobile devices, and does it cover every operating system you run?
- Patch depth: Can it deploy operating-system and third-party application updates, schedule maintenance windows, require approvals, handle reboots and report failures?
- Vulnerability workflow: Does it discover exposures, provide CVE or risk context, prioritise affected devices, create remediation tasks and verify that the issue is fixed?
- Operations: Are remote control, monitoring, software deployment, scripting, automation, inventory and alerting included or sold as add-ons?
- Commercial model: Is licensing per user, device or technician? Are there minimums, edition limits, add-ons or quote-only components?
- Ecosystem fit: Does it connect to your Microsoft security tools, PSA or ticketing system, identity provider, reporting workflows and compliance programme?
Microsoft Intune: best for Microsoft-centric IT departments
Microsoft positions Intune as a unified platform to manage, update and protect diverse endpoints. In practical terms, that means one administration model for device configuration, policy enforcement, patching, reporting, endpoint health and compliance rather than a separate console for each control.
What Intune covers
- Device management and configuration policy across supported endpoint types.
- Update and patch policy with reporting on device health and compliance.
- Endpoint-security policies for antivirus, firewall, disk encryption and compliance.
- Vulnerability-remediation workflows connected to Defender for Endpoint findings.
Endpoint-security administrators can use vulnerability findings from Defender for Endpoint to create remediation tasks for affected devices. That connection is important for teams that want vulnerability discovery, policy enforcement and remediation tracking in one Microsoft workflow.

- THREAT DETECTION – Stay one step ahead. Suspicious links, risky sites, viruses, and scams, caught automatically before they reach you.
- PERSONAL INFO PROTECTION – Keep your personal info safer. Identity monitoring watches for your exposed info and tells you what to do about it.
- SECURE CONNECTIONS – Just a few easy clicks, and we'll automatically protect your info on public Wi‑Fi, every time you connect.
- GUIDED ACTION – Know what matters and what to do next. Clear alerts and simple guidance make it easy to take action.
- MORE THAN ANTIVIRUS – Scam protection, identity monitoring, VPN, web protection, and antivirus work together to protect you, all in one place.
Where Intune fits—and where it does not
Intune is the natural first evaluation when your organisation already licenses and operates Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Defender. Existing identity, security and compliance data can reduce the number of integrations a replacement project needs to maintain.

ManageEngine Endpoint Central: broad endpoint operations with published pricing
Endpoint Central is the strongest broad endpoint-operations alternative in the available evidence. Its feature set spans patch management, application distribution, asset management, remote troubleshooting, BYOD management, kiosk mode, operating-system deployment, remote data wipe and vulnerability remediation.
Published annual starting prices
ManageEngine lists the following annual starting prices for 50 endpoints on its current product page, accessed in 2026:
Rank #4
| Edition | Annual starting price for 50 endpoints | Positioning |
|---|---|---|
| Professional | $795 | Core endpoint-management tier |
| Enterprise | $945 | Expanded endpoint-operations tier |
| UEM | $1,095 | Unified endpoint-management tier |
| Security | $1,695 | Tier that includes vulnerability remediation |
These are edition-level starting prices for the stated 50-endpoint quantity, not a universal per-device rate. Confirm taxes, support terms, regional currency, additional endpoints and any required modules with ManageEngine before signing a contract.

- One operational console: Patching, software deployment, inventory and remote troubleshooting are covered alongside UEM functions.
- Security edition: The published Security edition explicitly includes vulnerability remediation, which can avoid stitching a separate remediation product into the patching workflow.
- Budget visibility: Edition prices are published, making an initial budget easier to build than with products sold only through a custom quote.
Endpoint Central is particularly attractive when you need both routine IT operations and security remediation, but do not require the Microsoft-specific identity and Defender relationships that make Intune compelling.

MSPs should assess a replacement as a service-delivery platform, not merely as a patch console. An MSP alternatives overview identifies ImmyBot, ConnectWise Automate, Datto RMM, Microsoft Intune used with WSUS and other RMM choices. A NinjaOne comparison landscape also places Atera, Intune, ManageEngine, ConnectWise Manage, Autotask, HaloPSA and ServiceNow in the relevant comparison or integration set.
| Shortlist category | What to validate |
|---|---|
| ImmyBot and other deployment-focused tools | Third-party patch coverage, automation depth, remote support and how device or technician billing works. |
| ConnectWise Automate and similar RMM platforms | Multi-tenant administration, PSA integration, alert routing, scripting and reporting across customers. |
| Datto RMM and comparable managed-service platforms | Per-endpoint economics, maintenance-window controls, application patching and migration tooling. |
| Intune plus WSUS | How Microsoft licensing, update approvals, reporting and non-Microsoft application patches combine in your environment. |
Atera, ConnectWise, Datto, N-able, Syncro and similar products remain shortlist candidates rather than automatic recommendations. Feature sets, packaging and prices change, so obtain current terms and test the exact integrations your service desk uses.
Pricing and licensing: why headline comparisons mislead
Endpoint Central publishes annual edition prices for 50 endpoints. Intune may be included through Microsoft plans or bundles, while many RMM products use per-endpoint, per-technician or quote-based pricing. Those figures cannot be compared without normalising the same endpoint count, user population, support level, security modules, PSA connections and contract term.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Build a five-line cost model for each candidate:
- Base management licences for the number of users, devices or technicians you actually operate.
- Security and vulnerability features required for your compliance obligations.
- Remote-control, backup, PSA or ticketing integrations that are not in the base edition.
- Implementation, policy migration and administrator-training time.
- Expected overage, minimum-commitment and renewal terms.
Proof-of-concept plan before replacing NinjaOne
Run the same controlled pilot against each finalist. Use representative workstations, servers, operating systems and business-critical applications rather than a clean test device.
- Inventory coverage: Enrol devices and confirm that hardware, software and ownership data are complete and current.
- Patch coverage: Test operating-system and third-party application updates, approval rules, maintenance windows and staged deployment.
- Reboot behaviour: Verify user notifications, deferral limits, forced restarts and what happens when a device is offline.
- Vulnerability workflow: Trigger or import a known finding, rank its priority, assign remediation and verify closure in reporting.
- Operations: Test remote control, scripts, software installation, alert routing and technician audit trails.
- Reporting: Produce the compliance, patch and vulnerability reports required by management or auditors.
- Migration effort: Record policy recreation, agent deployment, maintenance-window changes, integrations and rollback steps.
Keep the incumbent system available until the pilot proves that patch failures, reboot prompts, vulnerability findings and reporting remain manageable during normal production conditions.
Quick Recap
Decision guide
- Choose Intune when Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Defender are already your strategic platform and security-policy integration is the priority.
- Choose Endpoint Central when one suite must cover patching, software distribution, remote support, inventory, UEM and vulnerability remediation, with published starting prices to support budgeting.
- Choose an MSP-oriented RMM when tenant separation, PSA workflows, per-endpoint economics and service-desk automation are more important than consolidating into Microsoft security tooling.
