Best Multistreaming Software for PC: OBS, Restream, and Streamlabs Compared

OBS Studio is a flexible PC encoder, but multistreaming needs a relay or multi-output setup. Compare Restream and Streamlabs limits and workflows.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For most PC creators, OBS Studio paired with a cloud relay is the most flexible starting point: OBS handles encoding, while a service such as Restream forwards one feed to multiple destinations. Streamlabs is worth considering if you want its workflow and cloud multistream features together. The right choice depends on your platforms, destination count, account types, and whether your PC should send one upload or multiple outputs.

What counts as multistreaming software?

Multistreaming involves two jobs that are often handled by different products: encoding the video on your PC and distributing it to multiple platforms. OBS Studio, Streamlabs Desktop, XSplit, and vMix can serve as streaming software or encoders. A relay service such as Restream can accept a feed from an encoder and forward it to several destinations.

This distinction matters: choosing OBS does not, by itself, settle how your stream reaches multiple platforms. Restream lists OBS, Streamlabs, XSplit, and vMix as software options, and says its free tier accepts third-party software such as OBS (Restream’s software guide).

2. OBS Studio plus Restream — best flexible setup for multiple platforms

OBS Studio is a free, open-source encoder available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, according to Restream’s guide. Pairing it with Restream separates local scene production and encoding from destination distribution. Restream’s help page, dated February 9, 2026, says its free plan includes two channels and third-party software such as OBS; it also lists multi-chat, analytics, and events. Restream branding appears on the free plan. The same page says paid plans are required for three or more channels, Facebook Pages or Groups, and custom RTMP destinations; paid tiers remove the watermark and unlock Studio Full HD. Confirm current limits and plan details on Restream’s help page before signing up.

3. Streamlabs — best if you want its tools and cloud forwarding in one workflow

Streamlabs says its cloud Multistream can be used with Streamlabs Desktop, an OBS plugin, or other software by entering dashboard RTMP credentials. Its cloud service receives one feed from the PC and forwards it to multiple platforms. Streamlabs describes this as reducing the need for the PC to send separate uploads to each destination; that is the vendor’s explanation, not an independent performance benchmark.

XSplit and vMix — encoder options, not established winners here

Restream lists XSplit and vMix alongside OBS and Streamlabs as software that can connect to its service. The available product information does not establish a direct multistream feature or price comparison between XSplit and vMix, so choose either based on your production workflow and verify its current compatibility with the relay you plan to use.

Compare the options by what your setup needs

Option How it handles distribution Documented free allowance Best fit
StreamNeo Cloud-loops uploaded videos to YouTube; not a multi-platform relay First day free, no card; one free day per account Continuous, pre-recorded YouTube streams
OBS Studio with Restream OBS encodes; Restream relays one feed to destinations Restream documents two channels on free plan, with branding OBS users wanting a flexible encoder and multiple destinations
Streamlabs cloud Multistream Cloud forwarding from a single PC feed Free Dual Output: one horizontal and one vertical destination; expanded Multistream requires Ultra Creators who prefer Streamlabs’ workflow or need its cloud forwarding
XSplit or vMix connected to a relay Encoder connected to a separate service such as Restream Not stated in the cited product information Creators already using either encoder

Destination count and account type

Write down every destination and the exact account type before choosing a plan. Two channels may fit Restream’s documented free allowance, but three or more, Facebook Pages or Groups, and custom RTMP require a paid plan according to its February 9, 2026 help page. Streamlabs lists a broad range of platforms, but the availability of each destination can depend on the feature and account type.

One PC upload or several

A cloud relay receives one feed from your PC and distributes it onward. Streamlabs says its cloud service works this way. Sending separate outputs locally instead means more encoding and upload work for the PC and network, as Streamlabs describes it. No independent benchmark establishes how much capacity a particular setup saves; the practical result depends on your encoding settings, connection, and selected destinations.

Workflow, branding, and plan limits

OBS users can keep OBS as their encoder and connect it to a relay. Streamlabs offers a Desktop route, an OBS plugin, and a dashboard RTMP route. Compare the details that affect your production: destination cap, platform/account compatibility, watermark, HD limits, and whether studio or guest features are included. Plan pages can change, so check the provider’s current terms rather than assuming a free-tier allowance remains unchanged.

How to choose and set up a PC multistream workflow

  1. List destinations and account types. Note whether each target is a personal profile, Page, Group, or custom RTMP endpoint, and count how many must receive the stream at once.
  2. Choose the encoder. Use OBS Studio if you want a configurable, free, open-source desktop encoder. If you already use XSplit or vMix, Restream lists both as software options; check the provider’s current connection instructions.
  3. Choose the distribution route. For OBS with Restream, create or sign in to your Restream account, connect the permitted destinations, then configure OBS to send the feed using Restream’s current connection details. For Streamlabs, choose Desktop, the OBS plugin, or dashboard RTMP credentials as supported by your workflow.
  4. Check the plan before going live. Confirm that destination count and account types are included, and check for branding, resolution limits, or required upgrades. Restream’s documented free tier is two channels; Streamlabs’ free Dual Output is one horizontal plus one vertical destination.
  5. Run a private or unlisted test where available. Verify that audio and video reach each intended destination, that the correct account is connected, and that stream orientation and overlays look right on each service. Do not assume that a successful encoder preview confirms every platform is receiving the stream.

Copyright, reused video, and platform rules

Multistreaming software distributes a feed; it does not grant rights to the music, video, or other material in that feed. Use content you own or have permission to broadcast, and check each destination’s rules for copyrighted material, reused content, and live streaming. Restream’s and Streamlabs’ feature descriptions do not establish that a particular stream is eligible for monetization or compliant with every platform policy.

Troubleshooting common multistream problems

Only one platform receives the stream

  • Check that every destination is connected and enabled in the relay dashboard.
  • Verify the plan’s destination allowance and account-type restrictions.
  • If using custom RTMP, confirm that the destination is supported by your current plan and that its server and key were entered correctly.

The encoder connects, but a destination remains offline

  • Confirm the correct platform account is linked, then refresh or reconnect it if the provider offers that option.
  • Recheck the stream key and destination selection. Treat keys as passwords; replace a key if it may have been exposed.
  • Check whether the destination has additional live-streaming eligibility or account requirements.

The PC or connection struggles during a local multi-output setup

  • Separate local outputs add encoding and upload work compared with sending one feed to a cloud relay, according to Streamlabs’ description.
  • Reduce the workload by using a cloud-relay workflow or by revisiting the number of simultaneous local outputs and your encoder settings.
  • There is no universal bandwidth figure established here; test your actual connection and configuration before an important broadcast.

A watermark, destination cap, or feature restriction appears

  • Check which plan is active and compare it with the current provider plan page.
  • For Restream, the documented free plan has branding and two channels; certain destination types and three-plus channels require paid plans.
  • For Streamlabs, distinguish free Dual Output from expanded Multistream through Ultra.

Or let it run in the cloud
