Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallThere is no officially documented “best” Moonfrost preset yet. The Steam and Epic store pages do not publish the game’s current graphics-menu controls, a recommended combination, or controlled FPS results. The only platform-specific performance statement available is SteamDB’s 23 September 2026 record, which rates the Steam Deck version Playable and says its default graphics configuration performs well. That is a qualitative compatibility note, not a benchmark that applies to every PC or Deck.
For the clearest image and the smoothest play, start with your build’s default configuration, record your resolution and frame-rate behavior, then change one visible option at a time if the current menu exposes it. Keep the game’s native resolution whenever readability is more important than extra performance, and reduce visual effects only after confirming that a change actually fixes your stutter.

What “best settings” means for Moonfrost right now
Moonfrost is an Early Access game from Oxalis Games. Its Steam description highlights dynamic lighting, weather, wildlife and a pixel-art presentation. Those systems can affect both the look of the world and the workload on your hardware, but the official listing does not identify individual graphics controls or tell players which effect to lower first.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
That makes a fixed internet preset unreliable. A setting that exists in one build may be renamed, moved or removed in a later build, and a value that is comfortable on a desktop monitor may make small text difficult to read on a handheld screen. Use the procedure below as a repeatable way to tune the current build rather than treating an unverified list of values as authoritative.
#1 Best Overall
- 【INTEGRATED SPEAKERS】Whether you're at work or in the midst of an intense gaming session, our built-in speakers provide rich and seamless audio, all while keeping your desk clutter-free.
- 【EASY ON THE EYES】 Protect your eyes and enhance your comfort with Blue-Light Shift technology. This feature reduces harmful blue light emissions from your screen, helping to alleviate eye strain during long hours of use and promoting healthier viewing habits.
- 【WIDEN YOUR PERSPECTIVE】Our sleek minimal bezel design ensures undivided attention. The nearly bezel-free display seamlessly connects in a dual monitor arrangement, delivering an unobstructed view that lets you focus on more at once, completely distraction-free.
What the published evidence does and does not establish
- Steam lists Moonfrost as an Early Access release and describes its dynamic lighting, weather, wildlife and pixel-art visuals.
- Neither the Steam nor Epic listing publishes a named graphics preset, per-option recommendation, measured frame rate or controlled comparison.
- SteamDB’s compatibility record, tested on 23 September 2026, rates the Steam Deck version Playable and says the default graphics configuration performs well.
- “Performs well” is not an FPS number, a frame-time graph or a guarantee for another resolution, operating-system version or hardware configuration.
Official PC requirements, kept separate by storefront
Steam and Epic publish different requirement lists. They should not be merged into one supposed universal specification: they may reflect different listing updates or editorial conventions. Both are minimum or recommended guidance from their respective stores, not a promise of a particular frame rate.
| Store listing | Minimum requirement | Recommended requirement | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steam (page accessed 2026) | Windows 11; 2 GHz processor; 8 GB RAM; 3 GB video memory; DirectX 10; 2 GB storage | Not stated | These are Steam’s listed minimums. They do not specify a target FPS or quality level. |
| Epic Games Store (page accessed 2026) | Windows 7; Intel Core i3; 8 GB memory; NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti or AMD RX 580 | Windows 11; Intel Core i5; 16 GB memory; NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super or AMD RX 5700 XT | These are Epic’s separately published minimum and recommended figures; do not silently substitute them for Steam’s list. |
The apparent conflict over Windows versions is especially important. Steam’s current listing says Windows 11 as its minimum, while Epic’s listing still shows Windows 7 as minimum and Windows 11 as recommended. If your system is on an older Windows release, check the store from which you installed the game and the current launcher requirements before troubleshooting graphics.
Set a trustworthy baseline before changing anything
Because no official Moonfrost benchmark exists, your first job is to create a comparison that you can repeat. A baseline prevents a placebo change—such as a different area, weather state or camera position—from being mistaken for a graphics improvement.
- Record the game build. Note the version shown by your launcher or in the game’s title, settings or main-menu information. Early Access updates can change rendering behavior.
- Record the device and display. Write down your processor, graphics adapter, system memory, display resolution, refresh rate and whether you are using a desktop, laptop or Steam Deck.
- Choose a repeatable scene. Use the same save, location, camera view and activity each time. Avoid comparing a quiet interior with a weather-heavy outdoor area.
- Leave the default configuration intact for one session. Observe hitching during movement, menu transitions, weather changes and busy wildlife scenes. Also check whether text and interface elements are readable.
- Change one option at a time. If the current build exposes resolution, lighting, shadows, effects, view distance, post-processing, texture or anti-aliasing controls, alter only one of them, then return to the same scene.
- Keep a short log. Record the old value, new value, scene and result. A change that removes a hitch but makes pixel art soft may not be an overall improvement.
- Revert changes that do not help. Without a published benchmark, keeping a lower-quality setting that produces no visible or measurable benefit only reduces image quality.
How to prioritize smoothness without making the image muddy
The exact Moonfrost menu and the performance cost of each option are not documented in the reviewed official sources. Do not assume that a particular slider is the largest performance lever. Instead, use the following decision order whenever those controls are present in your build.
Rank #2
- QHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) has 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD for incredibly detailed pinsharp images
- HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadow for added depth - making every scene feel more vivid and realistic
- The 180Hz refresh rate minimizes lag for gameplay with ultra-smooth action. Plus, the 1ms response time helps capture your moves in real-time, allowing you to react fast for gaming precision
- AMD FreeSync reduces choppiness, screen lag and image tearing, ensuring that your fast-paced, complex in-game action is stable with minimal stutter
- Ergonomic stand allows for tilt, pivot and height adjustments to maximize gaming comfort
1. Preserve the display’s native resolution first
Resolution determines whether pixel art, interface text and fine edges look crisp. If the game is smooth at native resolution, leave it there. If you must reduce resolution to address severe instability, choose the closest sensible display mode and check text, inventory labels and tooltips immediately afterward. A lower resolution can improve workload, but it can also make small text and pixel detail harder to distinguish.
2. Reduce expensive-looking effects only when they are the cause
Dynamic lighting, weather and other effects are prominent parts of Moonfrost’s presentation. If stutter appears when lighting or weather changes, test the corresponding control—if one exists—before lowering every option. Compare the same transition twice. Do not claim that lighting, shadows or weather is the largest performance cost unless you have measured it on your own build and hardware.
3. Keep textures and pixel-art detail as high as stability allows
Texture quality often affects sharpness more than it affects frame pacing, but Moonfrost’s official pages do not document its texture system. If a texture option is available, lower it only after testing resolution and effect-related controls. Inspect ground patterns, character sprites and UI icons at the same camera distance.
4. Treat anti-aliasing and post-processing as clarity choices
On a pixel-art game, smoothing or post-processing can change the intended edge appearance. If the picture looks blurred, shimmering or uneven after enabling one of these options, compare it at the same resolution and scene. Keep the setting that makes the art and text easiest to read while maintaining stable frame delivery.
Rank #3
- Smooth motion: 240Hz refresh rate and fast 0.5ms response time provide crisp visuals and fluid movement with less input lag.
- Seamless gaming: FreeSync Premium and HDMI VRR eliminate tearing for smooth, responsive PC and console gameplay.
- Fast IPS: Faster 0.5ms response with excellent color accuracy across wide IPS viewing angles.
- Rich color: 99% sRGB color coverage delivers vivid, detailed imagery with strong accuracy.
- Eye comfort: TÜV Rheinland 3‑star certified display lowers blue light while preserving color quality.
5. Use a frame-rate cap only if your build and platform expose one
A cap can make frame delivery more consistent by preventing the system from chasing a rate it cannot sustain, but the appropriate value depends on your display and measured behavior. Moonfrost’s published sources do not specify a target FPS or a recommended cap. Choose a cap only after observing your normal performance, and document the value with the device and build.
Practical profiles for different hardware situations
These are starting strategies, not tested Moonfrost presets. Apply them only to controls that the current build actually provides.
Steam Deck
SteamDB’s compatibility record, tested on 23 September 2026, rates Moonfrost Playable and reports that the default graphics configuration performs well. Start with the defaults rather than immediately lowering quality. Check the game at the Deck’s native display mode, read small text in menus and inventory screens, and test both quiet and effects-heavy outdoor scenes.

PC close to Steam’s listed minimum
If your computer is near Steam’s published minimum of Windows 11, a 2 GHz processor, 8 GB RAM and 3 GB video memory, begin with the default configuration at a conservative display mode and observe the repeatable scene described above. Keep native resolution if it remains readable and stable; otherwise test a modest resolution reduction before broadly lowering effects. Close unnecessary applications so that your limited memory is not being shared with background workloads.
PC near Epic’s recommended specification
Epic lists Windows 11, an Intel Core i5, 16 GB memory and either an NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super or AMD RX 5700 XT as recommended. That specification does not establish a Moonfrost FPS target, but it gives you more headroom for testing native resolution and higher visual options. Start from defaults, then change only the option associated with a reproducible hitch or a readability problem. Do not lower every setting simply because a generic optimization guide says to do so.
Systems that fall below a listed minimum
If your hardware or operating system is below the store listing you used, a settings change may not provide a reliable solution. Confirm that the game starts with the required DirectX support and available storage, update the graphics driver through your hardware vendor, and test with background applications closed. If instability remains, record the build and hardware when reporting the issue to the game’s support or community channels.

Short pauses or hitching during movement
- Repeat the same route and note whether the pause occurs when entering a new area, during weather or lighting changes, or at a consistent time.
- Check whether the pause is also present in menus or only in the world. A world-only hitch points to a different problem than a system-wide slowdown.
- Test one effect-related control at a time if available. Keep the change only if the same event becomes smoother.
- Verify that storage has room for updates and that no large download or background process is competing with the game.
Generally low or unstable frame delivery
- Confirm the display resolution and refresh rate, then compare a lower resolution in the same scene.
- Test a frame-rate cap only if Moonfrost or your platform exposes one, and write down the cap used.
- Reduce the option that produces the clearest improvement in your repeatable test rather than applying a blanket “low” preset.
- Check temperatures and power behavior on a laptop or handheld; performance can vary when the device changes its power mode.
Blurry pixel art or unreadable text
- Return to native resolution and inspect the same UI screen.
- Compare anti-aliasing or post-processing options if the build includes them.
- Check the display’s scaling mode and operating-system scaling before sacrificing in-game resolution.
- On Steam Deck, remember that SteamDB’s small-text note concerns readability and input; it is not a recommendation to lower graphics.
Input or menu problems on Steam Deck
SteamDB reports that some functions may need touch input, a virtual keyboard or a community configuration. Try those input methods for the affected screen. Do not treat a control-selection problem as a rendering problem, and do not change image quality unless the visual test itself shows a problem.

Why Early Access makes a permanent preset risky
Moonfrost’s Steam Early Access description says community feedback informs development and that content will continue to be added. Rendering options, default values and performance can therefore change between builds. A setting recipe that was sensible before an update may no longer match the current menu or workload.
After a substantial update, repeat the baseline process: record the new build, verify the display mode, test the same scene and review text readability. If you publish or share your own numbers, include the device, operating system, resolution, settings changed, scene and date. A result without those qualifications cannot be transferred safely to another player.
A concise tuning checklist
- Use the current build; do not rely on an old screenshot of the options menu.
- Start from defaults, especially on Steam Deck, where SteamDB reports the default configuration performs well.
- Record device, display resolution, operating system and the scene used for comparison.
- Change one setting at a time and keep a written before-and-after note.
- Preserve native resolution when text and pixel-art clarity matter more than extra headroom.
- Test lighting, weather or other effects only if the current menu exposes them and your repeatable test implicates them.
- Use a frame-rate cap only with a measured reason; no official target FPS is published.
- Retest after significant Early Access updates.
What cannot responsibly be claimed
There is currently no source-backed basis for naming a universal “low,” “medium” or “ultra” Moonfrost preset, promising a particular FPS, ranking one graphics option as the biggest performance drain, or declaring that a setting works on every PC. The Steam Deck statement is limited to the default configuration and the compatibility test recorded on 23 September 2026. Steam and Epic’s hardware lists describe store requirements, not a performance guarantee.
The most defensible approach is therefore a measured, device-specific adjustment: retain defaults when they are stable and readable, alter only the control connected to a reproducible problem, and document the build so the result remains meaningful when Early Access changes.
