The best Quest 3S accessory depends on what you want to improve: a more stable fit, longer sessions, or safer travel. Start by confirming compatibility—Meta says only some Quest 3 accessories work with Quest 3S—and choose your strap before your case. An Elite-style strap may rule out the smaller case, while a battery strap adds weight as well as runtime.
Check Quest 3S compatibility before you buy
Quest 3S shares some accessories with Quest 3, but not all. Meta lists the Elite Strap, Elite Strap with Battery, carrying cases, Link cable, controller charging dock, and Active Straps among the compatible Quest 3 accessories. Meta also sells a Quest 3S-specific Breathable Facial Interface. Treat that list as a baseline, not blanket approval for every product labeled “Quest” or “Quest 3.” Meta’s announcement makes the limited nature of the compatibility explicit.

Compatibility can vary by accessory type and exact model. Android Central reports that Quest 3 facial interfaces, prescription lenses, and full-size charging docks do not work with Quest 3S; it also describes limits on transferring Quest 2 accessories. Check the headset maker’s or accessory maker’s listing for the exact model before reusing an older item. Android Central’s compatibility guide provides more detail.
Choose a strap for fit, stability, or longer sessions
The standard soft strap may be adequate if your sessions are short and the headset feels secure. If you want a different fit or better stability, compare a non-battery comfort strap or an Elite-style design. Head shape, hair, adjustment, and personal pressure preferences affect comfort, so no strap shape is best for everyone.

For a battery-equipped option, Meta’s Elite Strap with Battery is an officially compatible choice. Meta says its built-in battery provides up to two additional hours of use; that is a vendor claim, not a guaranteed result or independent benchmark for every user. Third-party options include KIWI Design’s K4 Boost and H4 Boost and BOBOVR’s M3 Pro. UploadVR has discussed these products and distinguishes models it has reviewed from those it has not tried. Treat its observations as that publisher’s experience, not a head-to-head test of every available strap. Compare the trade-offs that affect everyday use
- Fit and adjustment: Look for adjustment that lets you secure the headset without uncomfortable pressure. The best arrangement depends on your head and how you wear the headset.
- Weight and balance: A rear battery can change how weight is distributed, but it also adds weight to the head. Consider total load and where it rests, not just the strap’s shape.
- Charging: An integrated battery stays attached to the strap. A separate USB-C power bank can be carried elsewhere, but it introduces a cable to manage.
- Case fit: Confirm that your chosen strap fits the case you intend to use. The compact official case is not suitable for Elite straps.
Pick a case after the strap
The key choice is between the full-size case and the compact case. Meta’s full-size Quest 3/3S case is the safer option if you use a standard or Elite strap or want room for the headset accessories listed with the product. Its listed contents fit include Touch Plus controllers, a charging cable and adapter, and standard or Elite straps. Meta Store listings include both full-size and compact cases for Quest 3/3S, but price and stock can change. Verify the current listing and strap fit before buying. Check Meta’s accessories listings.

A battery strap keeps its battery on the head, which avoids carrying a separate pack but increases the weight worn during play. A separate USB-C power bank lets you place the battery elsewhere, though you will need to manage the cable and secure the pack. Choose based on how you prefer to carry weight and handle charging—not on capacity alone.

Do not infer a fixed play-time increase from a battery’s capacity. Runtime depends on the headset, workload, battery output, and setup; the supported runtime figure here is Meta’s claim of up to two additional hours for its Elite Strap with Battery. UploadVR also discusses external batteries and wearable power options, but its charging advice concerns Quest 3. Verify output requirements for the exact Quest 3S and power-bank setup rather than applying that guidance automatically. UploadVR’s guide covers its battery options.

A quick buying decision
- Want a different fit without adding a battery? Compare non-battery comfort or Elite-style straps, then pick a case that fits the model.
- Want a strap and battery in one purchase? Consider Meta’s compatible Elite Strap with Battery or a third-party option whose exact Quest 3S compatibility is confirmed.
- Need a smaller travel case and use the soft strap? The compact case is the smaller listed option; it will not accommodate an Elite strap.
- Use an Elite strap or carry extra gear? The full-size case is the more appropriate official case based on its listed strap fit and storage.
- Reusing a Quest 2 or Quest 3 accessory? Confirm the exact model with its manufacturer; headset-generation labels alone do not establish fit.
