Notebookcheck’s highest-rated laptops for fall 2026
The following ratings and product observations are reported by Notebookcheck. They are useful for narrowing a shortlist, but a percentage alone cannot tell you whether a laptop suits your work or whether the specific configuration you can buy has the display, processor, memory, and storage you want.

|---|---|---|---|
| Apple MacBook Pro 16 (2026, M5 Max) | 92.4% | Creator-focused multimedia system with a strong mini-LED display, high performance, and mostly quiet operation. | Notebookcheck reports cooling limited to 70 watts, battery discharge under full load while connected to mains power, and Wi-Fi 7 bandwidth limited to 160 MHz in the tested system. |
| HP EliteBook X Flip G2i 14 AI | 90.7% | Convertible aimed at mobile professionals and creative nomads; portability, battery life, keyboard, and display choices are praised. | Performance varies substantially by processor and configuration. BrightView is recommended for image sharpness; matte versions can look grainy. |
| Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 GU606AW | 90.4% | Gaming and creator laptop with a brighter 240-Hz OLED, efficient Panther Lake processors, higher GPU power limits, sturdy aluminum construction, and strong audio. | RAM is soldered. Notebookcheck lists German retail pricing from about €5,400 and a table list price of $5,400. |
| Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15IPH11 | 90.4% | Versatile multimedia laptop with a Panther Lake processor, GeForce RTX 5060, 165-Hz OLED touchscreen, strong audio, and two SSD slots. | Fans are loud under load. Notebookcheck gives a Germany-oriented starting price of about €3,000. |
| Lenovo ThinkPad X9-15p Gen 1 | 89.9% | Positioned between the MacBook Air and Pro, with more performance, ports, and storage options than the Air. Notebookcheck names it an Editors’ Choice and says its 32-GB base configuration suits demanding multimedia work. | Soldered memory, sustained-load SSD throttling, an average webcam, and lack of standard enterprise security features. Notebookcheck cites roughly €2,500–€2,800. |
| Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14 | 89.9% | Notebookcheck reports up to 24 hours of battery life for IPS configurations and optional 5G. | Configuration matters: the IPS touchscreen is highlighted for battery life, while the OLED model is reported at 989 grams. RAM is soldered, with at least 32 GB in every SKU. |
| Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 GU405AR | 89.9% | Fast 14-inch option for gaming and mobile creation, with RTX 5070 Ti graphics, a brighter OLED, an SD card reader, and improved efficiency. | Notebookcheck says the 2025 version remains a less expensive alternative for buyers who are not focused on HDR gaming. |
| Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 7 | 89.7% | Mobile-professional model with quieter cooling, longer battery life, USB-C charging on either side, and a choice of 60-Hz IPS or 120-Hz OLED. | RAM is soldered. |
| HP EliteBook X G2i 14 | 89.5% | Low weight, battery life, keyboard, haptic touchpad, 5G, and quiet everyday use. | Notebookcheck recommends the regular display rather than SureView unless the privacy screen is specifically needed. |
| Lenovo ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 11 | 89.5% | Business convertible with a pen-charging recess. | The recess fits only the slimmer Slim Pen 2; Notebookcheck says the top Core Ultra X7 configuration is needed for a notable performance step. |
| Microsoft Surface Laptop 8 13.8 | 88.4% | Bright, color-accurate IPS screen that Notebookcheck reports is free of PWM flicker. | The display is visually behind OLED; memory is soldered, there is no SD reader, and the older Surface Connect port remains. |
| Razer Blade 18 (2026) | 88.2% | High-end gaming and creator laptop described as fast and quiet in high-performance mode. | Its IPS screen trails OLED and mini-LED competitors in contrast and HDR brightness. Notebookcheck says the nearly identical 2025 model remains available for less. |
| Asus ZenBook S14 UX5406AA | 88.0% | Mobile-creator option with a 14-inch OLED, 32 GB RAM, 1-TB SSD, strong input devices and sound, and improved CPU performance and battery life. | Check that a listing matches the reviewed configuration before comparing prices. |
| Framework Laptop 13 Pro | 87.9% | Sturdier chassis while retaining repairability and modular servicing; battery life is improved. | Performance trails comparable machines. The reported strengths make serviceability a key reason to consider it. |
| HP OmniBook Ultra 14 | 87.9% | 120-Hz OLED as standard, slim redesign, and strong graphics performance for productive workflows. | Notebookcheck reported expected German pricing around €2,500 and no store stock as of early September 2026; those are dated observations, not current price or availability. |
| MSI Raider 16 Max HX B2WJ | 87.7% | Gaming and creator system combining high performance with OLED image quality. | Large size and weight are the main practical trade-offs noted. |
| Razer Blade 16 (2026) | 87.7% | Notebookcheck reports RTX 5090 graphics, a more efficient CPU, faster memory, cooler cores, and improved gaming performance and everyday battery life. | Compare the exact graphics, screen, memory, and storage configuration in the listing with the reviewed model. |
Choose by workload, not just score
For creators and demanding multimedia work
The MacBook Pro 16 is the highest-rated pick in Notebookcheck’s roundup, while the ThinkPad X9-15p Gen 1 is positioned as a creator-oriented alternative between the MacBook Air and Pro. The Yoga Pro 7 15IPH11 combines an OLED touchscreen and RTX 5060 with two SSD slots, but its fans can become loud under load. Consider sustained cooling and noise as well as headline performance if your work involves long renders or other extended workloads.
#1 Best Overall

- STORAGE AND MEMORY - 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD offers fast speed and efficient storage; and 8 GB LPDDR5 RAM memory boosts performance with higher bandwidth
For gaming and GPU-heavy creation
The ROG Zephyrus G16 GU606AW and G14 GU405AR pair high-refresh OLED displays with discrete graphics; the roundup also includes the Razer Blade 16, Blade 18, and MSI Raider 16 Max HX B2WJ. Compare the exact GPU and screen configuration, then weigh display contrast, HDR, chassis size, cooling, and whether memory can be upgraded. A high refresh rate or powerful GPU does not make every configuration identical.
For mobile work and convertibles
The EliteBook X Flip G2i 14 AI, ThinkPad T14s Gen 7, ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14, and EliteBook X G2i 14 are aimed at people who carry a laptop regularly. The Flip adds convertible flexibility; the T14s offers charging from either side; and the X1 Carbon’s reported battery-life figure applies to IPS configurations. If privacy is not a priority, Notebookcheck favors the regular EliteBook X G2i display over SureView.

The perfect combination of performance, power consumption, and value helps your device handle multitasking smoothly and reliably with four processing cores to divide up the work.
For repairability and long-term service
Framework Laptop 13 Pro stands out for repairability and modular servicing, though Notebookcheck says its performance trails comparable machines. Several competing models in the roundup have soldered memory, including the G16, T14s, ThinkPad X9-15p, and X1 Carbon. Confirm upgrade options before purchase if you expect to need more memory later.

What the 49-laptop roundup does—and does not—establish
Notebookcheck says it tested 49 newly released notebooks during summer 2026. That is a defined seasonal test set, not a market-wide survey or proof that these are the only strong laptops available.
