Gorgias is the clearest documented example here: its help center supports shopper-facing answers, can connect to its AI Agent knowledge base, and is listed as available on all Helpdesk plans. That makes it a concrete option to evaluate—not proof that it is better than alternatives.
For an ecommerce store, the practical question is whether a tool helps shoppers find accurate product, shipping, delivery, and returns information, while giving staff a workable way to publish and maintain it. Compare those capabilities separately from helpdesk pricing and store-platform costs.

What ecommerce knowledge-base software needs to do
A customer-facing knowledge base—often presented as a help center—gives shoppers a place to find answers without starting a support conversation. For an online store, the core content is usually tied to the questions that arise before and after an order: what a product is or how it works, shipping options, delivery expectations, and returns.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe software is only part of the system. Articles need an owner, a publishing process, and updates when policies or product details change. A help center that is technically live but hard to search or out of date will not serve shoppers well. When comparing tools, assess both the customer experience and the work required to keep answers accurate.

Comparison: what the available product information establishes
The table distinguishes documented product features from claims and details that are not established. The Richpanel and Zendesk positioning below comes from a Gorgias-published comparison, so treat it as vendor-authored market commentary rather than an independent assessment.
| Product | Documented ecommerce knowledge-base information | Pricing and limits established here |
|---|---|---|
| Gorgias | Its help center supports shopper self-service, can connect to the AI Agent knowledge base, and is listed as available on all Helpdesk plans. Its Shopify connection can surface customer profiles and order history in the sidebar, according to Gorgias documentation. | Current subscription prices, article limits, usage charges, and detailed entitlements: not stated in the cited Gorgias documentation. |
| Richpanel | A Gorgias-published comparison positions Richpanel around self-service. The claim is vendor-authored and does not establish feature details or comparative performance. | Knowledge-base plans, prices, limits, and current feature entitlements: not stated in the cited comparison. |
| Zendesk | A Gorgias-published comparison says Zendesk relies on third-party apps for ecommerce integration. This is a vendor-authored claim, not an independent integration assessment. | Knowledge-base plans, prices, limits, and current feature entitlements: not stated in the cited comparison. |

Products with documented relevance to ecommerce help centers
1. Gorgias: a documented help-center and Shopify-connected example
Gorgias describes its help center as a way for customers to find answers themselves. Its documentation names product, shipping and delivery, and returns articles as examples, making those familiar store questions a direct fit for the feature. The help center can also connect to the Gorgias AI Agent knowledge base. Gorgias lists the help-center feature as available on all Helpdesk plans; because packaging can change, that statement should be confirmed against the current plan before purchase. The feature documentation was updated August 21, 2026.
For Shopify stores, Gorgias says a connected store can provide customer profiles and order history in the sidebar, and its documentation describes expanded capabilities for Shopify. These are vendor-documented functions, not independently tested outcomes. The cited materials do not establish help-center article limits, subscription prices, AI usage charges, or whether the feature set is identical across every plan.
Rank #2
It is a concrete candidate for a store already evaluating Gorgias as a helpdesk and wanting a connected self-service center. The available evidence does not establish that it is the best choice for every ecommerce platform or support operation.
2. Richpanel: a self-service positioning to investigate
A Gorgias-published comparison characterizes Richpanel as oriented toward self-service. That provides a reason to include it in a shortlist if self-service is the primary buying goal, but the available claim does not specify how its knowledge base is built, organized, or connected to particular ecommerce platforms. It also does not establish current prices, plan limits, or comparative results. Treat the positioning as a vendor’s description of the market, not a product verdict.
3. Zendesk: an option whose ecommerce integration needs specific scrutiny
The same Gorgias-published comparison says Zendesk relies on third-party apps for ecommerce integration. That caveat matters when a store wants support staff to see customer or order context alongside help-center activity. The claim does not identify which apps, their costs, or the level of integration they provide, so it is not enough to determine the practical setup or total cost. The cited material also does not establish Zendesk knowledge-base plan prices or limits.

How to choose for your store
1. Define the questions shoppers should be able to resolve
Start with the questions that generate repeat contacts: product details, shipping and delivery, and return policies. For each topic, decide what a complete answer must contain, who owns it, and what event should trigger a review. This gives you a concrete content test for any prospective help center rather than relying on a feature label.

2. Assess the publishing and maintenance workflow
Ask how staff create, review, publish, and update articles, and how the help center is organized for shoppers. Confirm whether the people responsible for store policies can maintain content without creating a publishing bottleneck. The available product information here does not provide a comparative account of authoring, roles, approvals, version history, or search quality, so those should be checked directly in product documentation or a demonstration.
3. Trace the store connection end to end
Do not treat “ecommerce integration” as a yes-or-no checkbox. Establish which platform is supported, what customer and order information appears to agents, whether the connection supports any relevant workflows, and whether those capabilities require a particular plan or app. Gorgias documents customer profiles and order history in the sidebar for a connected store, with expanded Shopify capabilities; equivalent details are not established here for Richpanel or Zendesk.
4. Separate help-center access from AI and helpdesk costs
A knowledge base may be included in a helpdesk plan while connected AI capabilities or usage are governed separately. Gorgias says its help-center feature is available across Helpdesk plans and can connect to its AI Agent knowledge base, but the cited documentation does not provide current prices or define every AI entitlement. Compare the subscription basis, users, article limits, AI usage charges, add-ons, and seasonal-volume effects using current plan terms before budgeting.
5. Check store-plan constraints independently
Shopify’s official Basic plan documentation says adding staff accounts is unsupported on that plan and directs readers to regional pricing for transaction-fee specifics. This is a constraint of Shopify’s store plan, not a price or limitation for knowledge-base software. If your publishing or support workflow depends on additional staff access, include the store-plan requirement in the operating-cost calculation.

What to verify before committing
- That the help center can publish and organize the specific answers your store needs, and that shoppers can find them.
- Which store platform integrations are supported and precisely what customer, order, or workflow context each one provides.
- Which features are included in the selected subscription, including AI connections, and whether usage charges or add-ons apply.
- Current pricing, user allowances, article or usage limits, and any restrictions that matter during peak periods.
- Whether staff roles and access fit your publishing process, including any limits imposed by the ecommerce platform’s own plan.
These checks address gaps in the feature and price details established above; they are not evidence that any specific vendor lacks a capability.
