A design-led option is the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, though you should confirm local price, stock and carrier compatibility before considering it. In the United States, the Pixel 10a’s price reportedly rose from its $499 launch starting price to $599 in October 2026, so compare live prices rather than relying on launch figures.
What “less than a flagship” means for the Pixel 10a
There is no reliable market-wide price ranking in the available coverage, and phone prices change by region, retailer, storage tier and promotion. Google announced a US starting price of $499 for the Pixel 10a on February 18, 2026; an October 2, 2026 report says the US starting price later increased by $100 to $599. Those are dated figures, not a live quote. Check the Google launch announcement and the October price report, then verify the current Google Store and retailer price in your country before deciding what counts as cheaper.

“Flagship” describes a price tier, not a guarantee of better value. TechRadar compared launch starting prices of $799 for the Pixel 10 and $499 for the Pixel 10a; those historical figures do not establish today’s gap, especially after the reported 10a price change. See TechRadar’s Pixel 10a vs. Pixel 10 comparison for that launch-price context.

For a buyer whose priority is spending less, start by checking the Samsung Galaxy A36 5G. Android Authority’s Pixel 10a review cited an Amazon price of $399.99 for the A36 in its article context. That is a reported offer, not a confirmed current price, so verify the listing, seller, model variant and storage before treating it as a cheaper alternative. The same review describes the Pixel A-series as unusually strong among midrange phones, which is a reason to compare priorities rather than assume the Samsung is better overall. #1 Best Overall
- Attention-grabbing design meets the latest evolution of the Google Pixel Camera on the new Google Pixel 11 Pro XL; Gemini Intelligence helps manage details so you can live in the moment[1]; and the phone is available in two sizes
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan: Works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers[2]
- Stay informed without looking at your screen: When your phone is face down, Pixel HiLight gently alerts you with subtle glowing lights when your favorite contacts are calling or you’re talking with Gemini; exclusive to Google Pixel 11 Pro phones
- Magic Capture catches the moment as you live it: With just one tap, Pixel 11 Pro captures video and photos, and automatically edits, crops, and unblurs a curated collection, ready to share – and you get the memory of how it felt to be in the moment
- Two new cameras for more brilliant photos: A larger telephoto sensor captures 30% more light for clear, beautiful photos and videos, even in the dark[3]; Pixel’s longest zoom ever helps you capture details from impressive distances[4]
Choose the A36 if a verified local listing makes it meaningfully cheaper and its software, camera results, display and support suit you better. The cited coverage does not establish a complete head-to-head test, so it cannot support a claim that the A36 beats the Pixel 10a on camera, performance or longevity. Check both phones’ official specifications and update commitments for your region, and compare the same storage tier.
Nothing Phone (3a) Pro: consider it for a different design
The Nothing Phone (3a) Pro is a more design-oriented possibility if you find the Pixel’s appearance too plain. Android Central’s alternatives roundup suggests it on that basis, but the available coverage does not establish its current US price, stock or carrier fit. Confirm those details through a current local listing and the manufacturer before treating it as either cheaper or a practical replacement. See Android Central’s alternatives roundup.

How to compare the phones before buying
Do not choose on a headline price alone. Compare the same market and storage tier, then weigh the differences you will notice in daily use:
- Price: Check the live unlocked price, storage capacity, seller and whether the offer is a recurring price or a temporary promotion. Compare against the Pixel 10a’s current local price, not its launch price.
- Availability and network fit: Confirm that the exact model is sold in your country and supports your carrier’s bands and features. A phone that is cheaper but incompatible or difficult to service is not a useful alternative.
- Camera: Compare photo and video output for the situations you care about, such as low light, moving subjects or zoom. The available material does not establish a full head-to-head camera test of these alternatives.
- Display: Consider screen size, refresh rate and outdoor visibility. Google’s official Pixel specifications are available on its Pixel phone specifications page; verify alternative models’ figures with their manufacturers.
- Software and support: Choose the interface you prefer and check each manufacturer’s stated update policy for the exact model and region.
- Practical ownership: Compare dimensions, charging, warranty coverage and repair options where you live.
Google’s specifications and TechRadar’s review provide Pixel 10a context, but they are not substitutes for a controlled comparison with the A36 or Phone (3a) Pro. TechRadar’s Pixel 10a review can help you assess the Pixel itself; verify competing models’ details directly with their manufacturers.

- Consider the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro if design is a major reason you are looking beyond the Pixel, after checking price, availability and network compatibility where you live.
- Keep the Pixel 10a in the comparison if its camera, software or support are the reasons you wanted it. The available coverage does not show that either alternative is a universal upgrade.
