There is no documented universal best gear effect in Minecraft Dungeons II (also called Minecraft Dungeons 2). The strongest choice depends on how you want to fight: build around dodging and ranged attacks, a summoned companion and sustain, or active abilities from artifacts. The available hands-on reports show promising combinations, but do not provide damage comparisons or enough evidence for a definitive tier list.
How gear effects shape a build
Xbox Wire’s June 2026 hands-on describes a loadout with a melee weapon, a ranged weapon, three artifact slots, four armor slots and three talisman slots. Talismans grant passive bonuses; artifacts provide active abilities or spells. Effects are most useful when they support the same combat plan rather than pulling your gear in unrelated directions.

Best effects to try together
Dodging with offensive follow-up
A gamescom demo showed a possible sequence built around more frequent dodges, arrows fired with each dodge, and an enchantment that adds fire to arrows. Together, these effects turn an evasive move into a way to keep attacking at range. Try this direction if you want mobility and ranged pressure to reinforce each other; the demo did not establish it as the strongest combination.

A companion with sustain
Xbox Wire’s June 2026 demo described a bone talisman that summons a dog companion and a weapon enchantment with a chance to create regeneration spots when enemies are killed. That suggests a companion-and-sustain approach: summon support, then look for opportunities to recover while defeating enemies. The report presents an example, not comparative performance testing.
Artifacts for active abilities
Artifacts supply active abilities or spells, so they suit a build that wants options beyond weapon and armor effects. Choose them to complement your main combat pattern—for example, supporting a melee or ranged focus—rather than assuming an artifact effect is automatically better than a passive talisman bonus. The available previews do not provide a full artifact list or measured comparisons.

How to decide what gear effects you should use
- Pick the combat plan. Decide whether you want to center the build on melee, ranged attacks, dodging, or a companion.
- Open “Effects and Enchantments.” The gamescom preview says this menu collects effects from weapons, armor and talismans, letting you see what each item contributes.
- Keep effects that reinforce the plan. For example, combine an evasive effect with an effect that rewards dodging, or pair a summoned companion with a sustain effect.
- Adjust gear, then inspect the menu again. Use the smith systems described in the preview to modify equipment, and check whether the resulting effects still support your chosen approach.
This is a practical way to make a build from the reported systems, not a result of controlled gameplay testing.
How the Blacksmith and Enchantsmith help
Blacksmith: upgrade gear or reroll its built-in buff
In its 2026-08-26 gamescom hands-on, Xbox Wire reported that the Blacksmith can upgrade owned equipment to the highest power level currently available and reroll an in-built buff. That gives you a reported way to keep a preferred item while improving its level or changing its buff.

Enchantsmith: add enchantments with Enchant Books
The same preview says players find Enchant Books during the adventure and bring them to the Enchantsmith to add enchantments, paying currency dropped by Soul Corrupted enemies. Use this system to pursue effects that fit your build, rather than spending resources on an effect simply because it sounds powerful in isolation.

Mojang’s official overview describes Minecraft Dungeons II as an action-RPG adventure. Xbox Wire’s June and August 2026 reports document gear slots and preview examples, but neither supplies a ranked list, a full effect catalog, or numerical evidence that one effect outperforms another. Treat the combinations above as ideas to try, then judge them against your own preferred combat pattern.
