GTX Gaming is the clearest all-round starting point for Australian players in 2026: it lists Sydney deployment, publishes Minecraft and Valheim prices, and supports a large game catalogue. For the lowest-cost Minecraft entry, compare Shockbyte, Dedicated Gaming and GTX Gaming. If you need a choice of Australian cities, Empower Servers lists Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. Treat every price and “low ping” promise as indicative until you confirm the checkout total and measure latency from your own connection.

Location is usually the first latency decision
A Sydney server is generally the most broadly useful Australian location because Sydney is the most commonly listed city and has strong network connectivity to the eastern states. Players in Western Australia, the Northern Territory or overseas may see a different result, so do not assume that “Australia” means the same ping everywhere.
Empower Servers lists four cities—Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. That choice can be valuable when most players live in one state. GTX Gaming lists Sydney and says its Valheim deployment spans 16 locations worldwide. MintServers lists a Sydney datacentre and says its plans can provide low ping from Brisbane and Melbourne. These are provider statements, not independently verified measurements.

Dedicated versus shared CPU and RAM
Two plans with the same slot count can perform very differently. Shared RAM and oversubscribed CPU time lower the price, but may produce tick-rate drops or sluggish world saves when neighbouring customers are busy. Dedicated resources cost more and are more predictable. Ask whether the advertised RAM is guaranteed, burstable or shared, and whether CPU limits are stated in cores, percentages or a hardware model.
Game support and edition compatibility
Confirm the exact edition before ordering. Minecraft Java and Bedrock have different server software and mod ecosystems. Valheim buyers should check crossplay, BepInEx compatibility and whether backups are automatic. ARK generally needs more memory and CPU headroom than a small vanilla Minecraft world, especially with mods or a large map.
Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteBackups, DDoS protection and recovery
A backup feature is useful only if you can restore it. Check retention, frequency, storage location and whether restores are self-service or require support. DDoS protection should be included or priced clearly; ask whether it covers the game port and whether mitigation can temporarily null-route an attacked address.
Australian providers compared
| Provider | Australian location listed | Published game and price information | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTX Gaming | Sydney | Minecraft Dirt 1GB: A$3.72/month; Iron 4GB: A$15.25/month; modded Minecraft from 6GB at A$22.88/month. Valheim 10-slot vanilla: A$22.92/month with 10GB RAM. Valheim Plus: A$67.95 for 24 slots/16GB, A$97.13 for 32 slots/24GB, A$170.81 for 64 slots/32GB. | Prices are vendor-listed and may change. The provider’s under-20ms statement applies to NSW, Victoria and Queensland players and is not an independent test. |
| Shockbyte | Melbourne; one comparison listing also shows Sydney | Minecraft from $2.99/month; another listing shows $2.50. | The conflicting entry prices demonstrate why you should verify the live checkout. Supports more than 70 games, including ARK, Valheim and Rust. |
| BisectHosting | Sydney | Minecraft Java from $5.99/month; Valheim from $5.99/month. | These are listed starting prices; included RAM, CPU policy and renewal terms must be checked on the selected plan. |
| Empower Servers | Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide | Price not stated in the available listing. | Lists more than 30 titles, including Minecraft, Rust, ARK, Palworld and Valheim. City choice is its main differentiator here. |
| MintServers | Sydney | Unlimited, Unlimited+ and MAX plans; entry listed at $9.99/month in USD. | The Sydney plans are not presented as a low-cost limited-slot tier. Convert the final USD charge to AUD and inspect resource limits. |

| Space-Node | Sydney | From €2.70/month. | Lists an AMD Ryzen 9 5950X node, NVMe storage and DDoS protection. Euro pricing is not directly comparable with AUD. |
Best choices by game
Minecraft: compare resource tiers, not just the headline price
Minecraft has the broadest Australian selection. Advertised entry points run from about $2.50 to $4 per month among Shockbyte, Dedicated Gaming and GTX Gaming, but those figures describe very small or lightly specified plans. Dedicated Gaming’s listed 512MB plan is for 2–5 players, while GTX Gaming publishes a 1GB Dirt tier at A$3.72 and a 4GB Iron tier at A$15.25.
For vanilla survival with a few friends, start by estimating concurrent players, render distance, simulation distance and plugins. A 512MB allocation leaves little room for a modern server jar, several plugins and frequent exploration. Modpacks usually need substantially more memory; GTX Gaming lists modded Minecraft from 6GB at A$22.88 per month. Ask whether storage, backups and a database are included before comparing plans.
Valheim: GTX Gaming has the most detailed Australian listing
GTX Gaming lists a Sydney location and a 10-slot vanilla Valheim server at A$22.92 per month with 10GB RAM. Its listed Valheim Plus tiers are A$67.95 per month for 24 slots and 16GB RAM, A$97.13 for 32 slots and 24GB, and A$170.81 for 64 slots and 32GB. The provider also advertises crossplay, BepInEx mod support and daily backups.

BisectHosting lists Valheim from $5.99 per month, but the available listing does not state the corresponding Australian plan’s RAM, slot count or backup policy. Treat that as a lead to investigate rather than a like-for-like price against GTX Gaming’s specified 10-slot tier.
ARK: budget by memory and CPU headroom
Empower Servers and Shockbyte list ARK, but no Australian ARK price is established here. ARK is commonly more demanding than a small vanilla Minecraft server, particularly with mods, large maps, many structures and frequent autosaves. Request the exact map, player-slot limit, RAM allocation, CPU policy, storage type and backup schedule. A low monthly price is not a bargain if the server swaps, falls behind during saves or cannot load the mod set.
Rust, Palworld and other games
Empower Servers lists Rust and Palworld alongside Minecraft, ARK and Valheim. Shockbyte lists more than 70 games. GTX Gaming says it hosts more than 175 games in Sydney. Multi-game catalogues are convenient, but each title can have different minimum RAM, mod-loader and update requirements. Confirm that the game version you need is supported in the Australian region and that switching games does not require a new subscription or erase the existing world.
How to verify ping before you commit
“Low ping” is a marketing description until your players measure it. The relevant value is round-trip latency from the actual homes and internet providers that will connect, at the times you normally play.
- Ask the host for the server IP or a temporary test endpoint in the advertised Australian city.
- From each major player location, run a continuous ping or the provider’s own latency test. Record median and worst-case results, not only the first reply.
- Repeat during an evening peak period and while another household is using the connection. Packet loss and jitter can feel worse than a slightly higher but stable ping.
- Confirm that the test endpoint uses the same network route, DDoS layer and datacentre as the plan you intend to buy.
- Use a trial or refund window, if offered, to test actual gameplay: movement, combat, chunk or terrain loading, world saves and mod synchronization.
GTX Gaming says players in NSW, Victoria and Queensland typically see under 20ms on its relevant plans. That figure is a vendor claim and may not apply to every ISP, suburb, game or time of day.
Understanding the advertised prices
Currency and checkout totals
The listings mix AUD, USD, EUR and unspecified currencies. A price such as €2.70 or US$9.99 cannot be ranked against A$15.25 without conversion fees, tax and card exchange rates. Compare the final amount charged in AUD, including setup, backups, extra IP addresses, modded-game premiums and renewal pricing.

Promotional versus recurring prices
A starting price may apply to the first billing period, a selected billing cycle or a small introductory configuration. Before ordering, record the recurring monthly price, billing interval, cancellation rule and any migration fee. If the checkout currency is not AUD, check whether your bank adds a foreign-transaction fee.
Slots are not a performance specification
“10 slots” describes a permitted player count, not the CPU needed to sustain it. A heavily modded 10-player Valheim or ARK world can require more resources than a lightly used 20-player vanilla server. Compare slot count with RAM, CPU limits, storage type and backup workload.

- List the players and locations. Note the usual simultaneous players, states or countries, and preferred play times.
- Choose the game build. Specify Minecraft Java or Bedrock, the Valheim version and mods, or the ARK map and mod collection.
- Select the nearest verified city. Use Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide where available, then test routes from real players.
- Size resources conservatively. Leave headroom for exploration, updates, plugins and backups instead of buying only the minimum slot tier.
- Confirm operational features. Check automated backups, restore access, DDoS mitigation, SFTP or file-manager access, console access and scheduled restarts.
- Secure administration. Use a unique account password, restrict operator permissions and enable multi-factor authentication if offered.
- Test before inviting everyone. Load the world, install the complete mod set, walk through busy areas and perform a restore test.
- Monitor after launch. Watch memory use, CPU saturation, tick rate, disk space, save duration and crash logs during peak sessions.
Common problems and practical fixes
Players still get high ping
Check whether they were placed on the advertised Australian node rather than an offshore fallback. Compare routes by ISP, look for packet loss and test at peak time. If only one player is affected, investigate local Wi-Fi, VPN use or an ISP route before moving the entire server.
Lag appears when the server is busy
Inspect CPU and RAM graphs, reduce simulation or view distance, remove unnecessary plugins and schedule restarts after backups. If the plan uses shared resources, ask support about migration to a less crowded node or a dedicated-resource tier.
Mods fail after an update
Stop the server, back up the world, verify that the server loader and every client mod use compatible versions, then update in a staging copy. Keep a rollback archive so a failed mod update does not overwrite the only working world.
The world is lost or corrupted
Stop writes immediately and preserve logs. Restore the newest known-good backup to a separate instance first; confirm player inventories and map state before switching the public address. If backups are provider-managed, ask how many restore points remain and whether deleted worlds can be recovered.

The price changes at checkout
Capture the plan name, billing period and currency shown on the order page. Remove optional add-ons, check tax and setup lines, and ask support to explain any difference between a comparison listing and the live invoice. Do not treat an aggregator’s price as a guaranteed quote.
Questions to ask support before paying
- Which physical city and datacentre will host this exact plan?
- Is the RAM dedicated, shared or burstable, and what CPU limit applies?
- What is the recurring renewal price in AUD, including tax?
- How often are backups made, how long are they retained and can I restore them myself?
- Does DDoS protection cover the game port, and are mitigation or extra IP charges separate?
- Can I upload custom jars, mods and configuration files, and is SFTP available?
- What happens to the world and files if I cancel or change plans?
- Is there a trial, refund period or migration assistance so players can test latency?
Bottom line
Start with GTX Gaming for the most clearly documented Sydney Minecraft and Valheim options, Shockbyte or Dedicated Gaming when the priority is a low advertised Minecraft entry price, and Empower Servers when choosing among Australian cities matters more than a published price. BisectHosting, MintServers, Apex Hosting and Space-Node are additional Sydney listings worth checking. Make the final decision only after verifying the live AUD checkout total, guaranteed resources, backup terms and measured latency from your players.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cheapest Australian Minecraft hosting listed here?
Advertised starting points are about $2.50 from one Shockbyte comparison listing, $2.99 for Shockbyte’s other listed price, $3.72 for GTX Gaming’s 1GB Dirt plan, and $4 for Dedicated Gaming’s 2–5-player plan. Currencies and plan limits differ, so compare the live recurring checkout total rather than the headline figure.
Recommended Free Tools
Which Australian host is best for Valheim?
GTX Gaming has the clearest Australia-specific listing: a Sydney location, a 10-slot vanilla plan at A$22.92 per month with 10GB RAM, larger Valheim Plus tiers, crossplay, BepInEx support and daily backups. Verify current availability and latency before ordering.
Is Sydney always the lowest-ping location for Australian players?
No. Sydney is the most commonly listed city, but the best route depends on each player’s state and ISP. Empower Servers also lists Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. Measure latency and packet loss from the actual players and test during normal evening usage.
How much RAM does an ARK server need?
No Australian ARK price or universal RAM figure is established in the available listings. ARK generally needs more headroom than a small vanilla Minecraft server, especially with mods or large maps.
