Start by checking which software version your Galaxy Tab S10 FE runs, then set up its two most useful productivity features: DeX and Second screen. For display and battery, choose settings to suit your eyes and workload rather than expecting a guaranteed battery-life boost. One important limit: the Tab S10 FE does not support Wireless DeX or HDMI output.
Check your software version first
Open the tablet’s Settings app and look for Software update to see whether an update is available. Menu names and settings can change with installed software and market, so use the manual that matches your tablet rather than assuming every Tab S10 FE has identical menus.

Samsung’s UK product page lists an English Android 16 manual, version 1.0, dated April 28, 2026. Learn the Quick settings shortcuts for DeX and Second screen
Samsung documents the same quick launch gesture for both features: swipe down from the top-right edge of the tablet with two fingers to open Quick settings, then tap the feature’s tile.

- DeX: Tap DeX to switch to the tablet’s desktop-like interface. DeX also has a section in the Settings app while the mode is active.
- Second screen: Tap Second screen when you want to use the tablet as a display for a Windows PC.
If either tile is not visible, check the available Quick settings tiles and add it if your software version allows. Exact tile-editing labels may vary.
Set up DeX for how you work
DeX gives the tablet a desktop-like interface, which can suit multitasking or work involving several apps. Samsung lists touch, S Pen, a USB or Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, and a Keyboard cover as ways to navigate or enter text. A cover or separate peripherals are optional; you can use the touchscreen or S Pen instead.

The right input depends on the task: touch and S Pen are convenient for direct interaction, while a mouse and keyboard can feel more natural for typing and pointer-based work. Try the setup you already have before buying accessories, and check exact regional and model compatibility before choosing a Keyboard cover.
DeX on this tablet does not send its screen to an external display. Samsung Support states: “The Galaxy Tab S10 FE and Tab S10 FE+ are not compatible with Wireless DeX or HDMI output.” DeX here is for using the tablet itself in a desktop-like mode, not projecting the tablet’s screen to a monitor. Use the Tab S10 FE as a Windows PC’s second screen
Second screen works in the other direction: it lets the tablet act as a display for a Windows PC. It is separate from sending the tablet’s own screen to an HDMI monitor.
- On the tablet, swipe down from the top right with two fingers to open Quick settings, then tap Second screen.
- On the Windows PC, press Windows + K and select the tablet from the available devices.
- When the PC display appears on the tablet, open Windows display settings to choose whether to extend or duplicate the desktop. You can also adjust display arrangement, scaling, and resolution there.
Choose Extend desktop when you want additional workspace, or Duplicate desktop when you want the tablet to mirror the PC display. Availability and behavior depend on the PC and its software; follow the on-screen prompts if the tablet does not appear in the Windows device list.

Choose display and battery settings for your routine
There is no sourced setting-specific battery comparison for this tablet, so treat brightness, refresh or comfort options, and power behavior as personal trade-offs—not guaranteed performance upgrades. Change only options shown in your installed Settings menu, and use Settings search or the matching manual when the menu path is unclear.

A brighter screen may suit a bright room, while a dimmer one may be preferable indoors; no exact battery saving is established here.
- Refresh and comfort options: If your software offers choices affecting motion or viewing comfort, select what feels right for reading, video, or other tasks. The available labels and options may depend on software version.
- Power behavior: Review available power or screen-timeout choices in Settings and balance convenience against your preferences. Samsung cautions that battery life varies with network environment, usage patterns, and other factors.
Revisit these choices after using the tablet normally for a day. That gives you a practical basis for adjusting comfort and convenience without assuming a particular setting will produce a fixed runtime.

Quick Recap
- Add the Quick settings tiles you expect to use, such as DeX and Second screen, if your software lets you edit the panel.
- If you plan to use DeX, try touch or S Pen first, then connect a mouse and keyboard if they better suit your work.
- If you need a larger Windows workspace, try Second screen and choose extend or duplicate in Windows display settings.
- After a normal day of use, revisit display and power choices based on comfort and routine.
