For one bhajan video, use OBS Studio’s Media Source with Loop enabled. For a playlist, use OBS’s VLC Video Source with Loop Playlist enabled. Both workflows send the video through an encoder; they do not turn an ordinary YouTube upload into a live broadcast. The free local setup needs a computer running OBS and an internet connection for as long as you stream.

OBS is open-source software, free to use, has no watermarks, and may be used commercially without restrictions, according to the OBS Project Help Portal. VLC is needed only for the playlist-source route.
Check YouTube Live eligibility first
YouTube’s guidance says a channel must be verified and have no live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days to enable live streaming. Check eligibility in YouTube Studio before setting up the encoder. YouTube lists encoder streaming as one way to go live. See YouTube’s live-streaming help.
Set up a single bhajan loop in OBS
- Install OBS Studio. Download it from the official OBS Project Help Portal.
- Create or open a scene. In the Sources panel, select the plus button and add a Media Source.
- Choose the file. Select the local video file. OBS documentation lists common formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, and WebM.
- Enable looping. In the Media Source properties, turn on Loop. The source will repeat when playback reaches the end.
- Check the picture and sound. Confirm the video fits the canvas as intended and that audio is reaching OBS’s mixer. Play it through once to catch missing audio or an incorrect file selection.

Set up a playlist of bhajans
- Install VLC as well as OBS. OBS requires VLC for the VLC Video Source to appear. On 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC.
- Prepare the playlist. Put the bhajan files in the order you want and create a playlist in VLC, or select multiple files when configuring the source if that option is available in your setup.
- Add the source in OBS. In the scene’s Sources panel, select the plus button and choose VLC Video Source.
- Select the playlist and enable repetition. Choose the playlist or files, then leave Loop Playlist enabled so playback returns to the beginning after the last item.
- Test transitions and audio. Preview the sequence in OBS to confirm the intended order, that files load, and that sound levels are usable.

Connect OBS to YouTube and start the broadcast
- Create or open the live stream in YouTube Studio. Use the channel and event you intend to broadcast from; confirm the channel is eligible before proceeding.
- Connect the encoder. In YouTube Studio’s stream setup, use the encoder workflow and enter the stream key in OBS’s stream settings, or connect using the available account workflow. Treat the stream key like a password: do not show it on screen or share it.
- Choose settings your computer and upload connection can sustain. Select an output resolution and bitrate appropriate to the source, network, and YouTube’s current guidance. There is no single bitrate that is right for every connection or video. Avoid changing several settings at once if you need to diagnose a problem.
- Run a short test. OBS’s Quick Start Guide recommends testing settings for a few minutes before the first real stream. Check the OBS preview and audio mixer, then confirm in YouTube Studio that the incoming stream is present and looks and sounds right. See the OBS Quick Start Guide.
- Start streaming and monitor the broadcast. Start the encoder stream in OBS and check YouTube Studio’s live status. Keep OBS and the computer running while you want the local broadcast to continue.
Copyright: confirm rights for the exact recording
Devotional subject matter does not by itself make a recording free to livestream. A bhajan’s recording, arrangement, performance, lyrics, or accompanying visuals may have rights holders. Use material you own or have permission to livestream, and confirm whether that permission also covers an archived stream.

YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. If a match is identified, a placeholder may replace the stream; if the content remains, YouTube may temporarily interrupt or terminate the broadcast. A copyright or Community Guidelines strike can also end a stream. If you have licensed third-party material, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; a license alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
