Which foldable camera should you choose?

The Galaxy Z Fold7 may appeal if its 200 MP main-camera specification and broad selfie framing matter more to you. Those specifications describe hardware, not a guaranteed image-quality verdict.

Megapixel counts are not a direct ranking of finished photos. Sensor and lens characteristics, processing, lighting, and the particular scene all affect what you get; these specifications alone do not settle detail, color, or consistency.

Zoom: the Pixel has the longer optical reach
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s 5x optical telephoto reaches farther than the Fold7’s 3x telephoto in the independent comparison coverage. That makes the Pixel the more straightforward choice for subjects that are often distant, such as performers or details across a street. A longer lens is not automatically better for every shot: 3x can be more convenient for nearby portraits or tighter everyday framing. Consider the focal lengths you actually use, rather than treating maximum zoom as the only measure of camera quality.

Main camera, portraits, and low light
Samsung’s 200 MP figure is a prominent hardware distinction, but it is not an independent comparative score. The Pixel’s main camera has a lower listed resolution, yet resolution alone cannot predict how much useful detail a final image retains. Published comparisons discuss differences in portrait rendering and low-light output, with strengths varying across reviewers and scenes; the available evidence does not support a universal winner for either category. Ultrawide, close-ups, and foldable selfies
Google explicitly lists Macro Focus with the Pixel’s 10.5 MP ultrawide, which is relevant if you often photograph small nearby subjects. Samsung lists a 12 MP ultrawide, but the cited specification does not make the same Macro Focus claim. A megapixel comparison does not establish which phone produces better close-ups or wider scenes. The Fold7’s two 10 MP selfie cameras serve different screens, and Samsung specifically describes the main-screen camera’s 100-degree field of view as useful for fitting more people into a group selfie. How to read “best to date”
“To date” is a moving target. Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Fold7 on July 9, 2025, and Google announced the Pixel 10 Pro Fold on August 20, 2025. This comparison is dated October 2, 2026, but the evidence here does not survey the complete foldable lineup available on that date or test every model under one shared method.
