For a basic full-page capture, try Firefox’s built-in Screenshots tool first: it can capture the full page or just the visible area, then save an image or copy it to the clipboard. If you need developer controls, PDF export, annotation, or a different privacy model, Firefox DevTools and several add-ons offer other workflows. Which is best depends on what you need; the capabilities below are described by Mozilla or each extension’s publisher, not verified through comparative hands-on testing.
Start with Firefox’s built-in Screenshots tool
Firefox Screenshots is the simplest place to start because it is built into the browser. Mozilla’s current help page explains how to capture a full page or the visible area and save the result as an image or copy it to the clipboard. If you do not see the Screenshots control, Mozilla says you can add it to the toolbar. The interface and control placement can vary by Firefox version, so use Mozilla’s current instructions for your installation: Take screenshots in Firefox.

Use Firefox DevTools when you need capture controls
Firefox DevTools offers two documented ways to take a full-page screenshot: enable its screenshot button in the toolbox, or use the Web Console’s :screenshot --fullpage helper. The helper supports options for a delay, output filename, device-pixel ratio, and CSS selector. See Mozilla’s Taking screenshots documentation for the current controls and syntax.
#1 Best Overall
- CRISP CLARITY: This 23.8″ Philips V line monitor delivers crisp Full HD 1920x1080 visuals. Enjoy movies, shows and videos with remarkable detail
- INCREDIBLE CONTRAST: The VA panel produces brighter whites and deeper blacks. You get true-to-life images and more gradients with 16.7 million colors
- THE PERFECT VIEW: The 178/178 degree extra wide viewing angle prevents the shifting of colors when viewed from an offset angle, so you always get consistent colors
- WORK SEAMLESSLY: This sleek monitor is virtually bezel-free on three sides, so the screen looks even bigger for the viewer. This minimalistic design also allows for seamless multi-monitor setups that enhance your workflow and boost productivity
- A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents
This option is a better fit for developers or technical users who need to control how and when a capture is made. It is less discoverable than Firefox’s normal Screenshots interface, and the documented helper is a Firefox DevTools workflow—not a general-purpose command-line screenshot tool.

These add-ons offer dedicated capture workflows. Their capabilities below reflect their own listings or help pages; they are not independent test results. Test your own long or dynamic pages before relying on an extension for a record or other important capture.

| GoFullPage | Its Firefox listing describes scrolling-and-assembling capture with PNG, JPEG, and PDF export. It says very large pages may be split into multiple images. | Consider it for straightforward full-page exports. The listing describes crop, annotation, and emoji editing as premium features; its behavior on your pages is not independently tested here. |
| FireShot | Its Firefox listing describes full-page, visible-area, and scrolling-selection capture, with PDF, PNG, and JPEG output, plus batch options. | Consider it if you want several capture modes or a PDF workflow. The listing describes some professional PDF and editor functions as upgrade features. Privacy statements are the vendor’s claims. |
| Awesome Screenshot | Its Firefox instructions confirm a “Capture Entire Page” action. See the full-page capture instructions. | It is another documented add-on option, especially if you already use its capture or editing workflow. The cited help page does not establish a broader comparison of privacy, price, or export choices. |
| OpenCapture | The project repository and product page describe full-page capture, crop, annotation, blur, and PNG/PDF export. The project identifies its code as AGPL-3.0. | Consider it if local processing and open-source code matter to you. Its local-processing and no-upload statements come from the project and have not been independently audited here. |
Or skip the browser setup
If you need screenshots from a script, application, or AI agent rather than a Firefox add-on, ScreenshotNeo is the alternative to try first: its API returns a screenshot or PDF from one GET request, removes supported consent banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture, and bills only clean shots—not bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, or cache hits. Its MCP server provides screenshot tools for AI agents. Plans include 1,000 shots per month free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. See the ScreenshotNeo website.

Which option should you choose?
- For a one-off capture: begin with Firefox Screenshots.
- For developer controls: use the DevTools screenshot button or
:screenshothelper. - For PDF or multiple capture modes: compare the documented GoFullPage and FireShot export and upgrade features against your needs.
- For editing or redaction: review the specific annotation, crop, and blur features documented by the add-on you are considering.
- For local processing or open-source code: examine OpenCapture’s project claims and code; do not treat those claims as an independent privacy audit.
- For automated captures outside the browser UI: consider an API or MCP workflow such as ScreenshotNeo instead of a Firefox extension.
Very long pages, lazy-loaded images, and dynamic content can make captures behave differently from one page to another. Before relying on a result, check whether the complete page and the content you need actually appear in the saved file.
Common issues and what to try
The built-in Screenshots control is missing
Firefox interface placement varies by version. Follow Mozilla’s Screenshots help page to add the control to the toolbar or use the available page context and toolbar controls described for your version.

A capture omits part of a long page
Try Firefox’s full-page option rather than a visible-area capture. If you need an extension, GoFullPage’s listing describes scrolling capture and a split-image fallback for very large pages. Inspect the output, especially where content loads as you scroll; the cited feature descriptions do not guarantee results for every site.
You need a PDF, not an image
Firefox’s built-in tool is documented for saving an image or copying it to the clipboard. GoFullPage and FireShot list PDF output, although FireShot describes some professional PDF functions as upgrade features. Check the add-on’s current listing and its export controls before choosing it.

A page contains content you must not expose
Do not assume an extension’s privacy description has been independently verified. OpenCapture’s local-processing and no-upload statements are project claims; FireShot’s privacy statements are vendor claims. Review the relevant publisher information and test the workflow with non-sensitive material before capturing confidential pages.

Does a full-page screenshot preserve the page as a searchable document?
These browser and extension workflows are described as screenshot or image capture, with some add-ons also offering PDF export. The cited descriptions do not establish that exported files preserve searchable page text; verify the output format and text behavior you need.
Is there one objectively best Firefox full-page screenshot add-on?
No comparative test establishes a universal winner here. The practical choice depends on whether you value built-in simplicity, DevTools controls, particular export formats, editing, or a project’s stated local-processing approach.
