In Ethereum.org’s network explorer snapshot updated October 1, 2026, their displayed average transaction fees ranged from $0.00 to $0.008. Those figures are only a starting point: the fee for your specific transfer, swap, or app interaction changes with the action and network conditions. Blast is also winding down, so users with assets there should check its official withdrawal instructions promptly.
Which Layer 2 alternatives had the lowest displayed fees?
Ethereum.org’s network explorer showed these average fees in its October 1, 2026 snapshot. Treat them as dated screening figures, not quotes or guaranteed prices for a transaction you are about to make.

Ethereum.org also listed Ink, Unichain, ZKsync Era, Linea, and Zircuit in its explorer. Linea displayed an average fee of $0.025; a fee for ZKsync Era was not listed in that snapshot. The explorer is a discovery aid, not a complete comparison of app availability or security.

Check the fee for your actual transaction
An average fee cannot tell you exactly what a particular transfer, swap, or contract call will cost. Check the live estimate for the action you plan to take, and compare the same action across candidate networks. Ethereum.org’s October 1, 2026 overview showed an average of $0.0015 across Ethereum-backed networks and $0.082 on Ethereum; those are dated overview figures, not fixed costs or a prediction for your transaction.

Confirm app, asset, and wallet support
Before bridging or depositing, check that the destination network supports the specific application and asset you intend to use, and that your wallet supports the workflow. Being an Ethereum L2 does not mean a network has every Ethereum app or token. Ethereum.org lists distinct networks with different characteristics.
Compare design, maturity, and trust assumptions
Base and OP Mainnet are optimistic rollups; Starknet is a STARK-based ZK rollup that uses Cairo. These labels describe different technical approaches, not a simple safety ranking. Ethereum.org’s maturity framework considers factors including time in production, value locked, and risk assessment, and cautions that many projects are young and somewhat experimental. Review the current risk information for any network before moving meaningful funds.

Account for the asset route and withdrawal conditions
Moving assets may involve a bridge, fees, supported-token limits, and withdrawal conditions. Ethereum.org names Superbridge and Portal as ecosystem bridge examples, and Hop and Across as independent tools. Check that the exact route supports your origin network, destination network, and asset, and understand its fees and withdrawal terms before sending funds.
What Blast offered—and why a low-fee replacement may differ
Blast’s own materials describe native yield for bridged ETH and stablecoins, EVM equivalence, and a developer feature that returns gas-fee revenue programmatically. These are product descriptions and claims from Blast, not independently verified yields or guarantees.

Native yield is separate from transaction cost. If your priority is simply cheaper transactions, compare networks by the fee for your intended action. If you also want Blast’s particular yield mechanics, the available information does not establish that the alternatives listed here reproduce them.

A notice attributed to Blast and linked to its official X account announces a wind-down and asks users to withdraw assets to Ethereum mainnet. It states October 26, 2026 as the deadline for withdrawing through the normal interface. The notice also describes a temporary withdrawal pause during a Lido asset withdrawal process and says assets remain withdrawable after the deadline through direct interaction with Blast’s Ethereum bridge contracts.
