The right ergonomic keyboard for a Mac depends on whether you prefer a single curved frame or two separate halves—and on the layout, connection and desk space you need. The Logitech ERGO K860 combines a curved split design, wrist rest and number pad in one wireless keyboard; the Kinesis Freestyle2 for Mac lets you position its two modules apart. The ZSA Voyager is a low-profile programmable split option for people willing to configure and adapt to a different layout. None is established by the available evidence as a universal winner or as a way to prevent or treat pain.
How to choose an ergonomic keyboard for Mac
Start with the physical arrangement, not a ranking. “Split” can mean a divided key layout on one connected frame, as on the K860, or two independent modules you can position apart, as on the Freestyle2. Then check whether the layout fits your work, how the keyboard connects to your Mac, and how much desk space it occupies.

- Choose a one-piece curved design if you want the keyboard’s halves and wrist rest integrated into a single full-size unit.
- Choose separately positionable halves if being able to space the modules apart matters more than having one connected frame.
- Check the number pad and footprint. The K860 has an integrated numpad; Kinesis describes the Freestyle2 as tenkeyless.
- Confirm connection and accessories. Compatibility, ports, tenting parts and what comes in the box depend on the specific model or bundle.

What the shape changes—and what it does not prove
One-piece curved frame: Logitech ERGO K860
The K860’s two key areas are arranged within one curved frame. Its wrist rest is attached, and the keyboard includes a number pad. This is a practical fit to consider if you want an integrated, full-size unit rather than modules you can move independently.
#1 Best Overall
- Improved Typing Posture: Type more naturally with a curved, split keyframe and reduce muscle strain on your wrists and forearms thanks to the sloping keyboard design
- Pillowed Wrist Rest: Curved wrist rest with memory foam layer offers typing comfort with 54 per cent more wrist support; 25 per cent less wrist bending compared to standard keyboard without palm rest
- Perfect Stroke Keys: Scooped keys match the shape of your fingertips so you can type with confidence on a wireless keyboard crafted for comfort, precision and fluidity
- Adjustable Palm Lift: Whether seated or standing, keep your wrists in total comfort and a natural typing posture with ergonomically-designed tilt legs of 0, -4 and -7 degrees
- Ergonomist Approved: The ERGO K860 wireless ergonomic keyboard is certified by United States Ergonomics to improve posture and lower muscle strain
Two adjustable modules: Kinesis Freestyle2 for Mac
The Freestyle2’s halves can be positioned apart. Kinesis says the keyboard is “an award-winning split keyboard designed to address the ergonomic risk factors related to typing by adjusting to your body.” That is the manufacturer’s product description, not independent proof that the keyboard prevents or treats a health condition. Tenting—raising the inner edges of the halves—requires optional accessories, so verify compatibility and bundle contents for the exact model.
Low-profile programmable split: ZSA Voyager
The Voyager is another split arrangement, with a low profile and programmable layout. Its maker lists Mac compatibility, but a programmable keyboard may call for more setup and adaptation than a conventional Mac layout. Confirm the current configuration and availability before choosing it.

Logitech ERGO K860: Bluetooth or Logi Bolt
Logitech lists different minimum macOS versions by connection: macOS 10.14 or later with its Logi Bolt USB receiver, and macOS 10.15 or later with Bluetooth Low Energy. The receiver requires a USB-A port; Bluetooth use requires Bluetooth Low Energy. Check your Mac’s ports and the connection you plan to use rather than assuming the receiver and Bluetooth have identical requirements. Logitech also lists its optional Logi Options+ customization app for macOS. See Logitech’s specifications.

Kinesis Freestyle2 for Mac: confirm the exact package
Kinesis documents a Mac layout and shortcuts and describes the halves as adjustable. The accessories page lists optional tenting accessories. Before ordering, confirm the exact SKU’s connection setup and whether any desired accessories are included; the product and accessory pages distinguish the keyboard from add-ons. Freestyle2 for Mac details Accessory details.
Which one fits your desk and workflow?
- You need a number pad: the K860 has one integrated. Kinesis describes the Freestyle2 as tenkeyless; confirm the Voyager’s current configuration if key count is decisive.
- You want to vary the distance between keyboard halves: the Freestyle2’s separate modules are designed to be positioned apart. The K860’s split arrangement stays within one frame.
- You want a built-in wrist rest: the K860 includes one. The cited Freestyle2 and Voyager descriptions do not establish an equivalent integrated rest.
- You want to raise the inner sides of separate halves: look at compatible optional Freestyle2 tenting accessories and confirm whether they are part of the package.
- You prefer wireless: the K860 supports Bluetooth or Logi Bolt, subject to the different requirements above. Verify the connection method for the specific Freestyle2 or Voyager package you are considering.
- You want a programmable layout: the Voyager is the documented option here; weigh configuration flexibility against setup and adaptation.
Ergonomic claims: keep expectations realistic
Terms such as “ergonomic” describe design intent or physical features; they do not by themselves demonstrate a medical outcome. The manufacturer descriptions cited here cover features such as a curved frame, separated modules, wrist rest and optional tenting. The available evidence does not provide an independent head-to-head clinical comparison showing that one of these keyboards prevents or treats pain, carpal tunnel syndrome or repetitive strain injury. Choose based on fit, layout and setup needs, and seek appropriate professional advice for persistent symptoms.
