Start with Performance Mode if smoother motion is your priority: it has a reported 40 fps target at 1080p in handheld and docked play. Choose Quality Mode for a higher resolution when docked, where it targets 1440p at 30 fps. In handheld play, both modes are listed at 1080p, with Quality targeting 30 fps and Performance 40 fps. These are reported targets, not independent measurements or guarantees for every scene.
Which graphics mode should you use?
The choice is between a higher reported frame-rate target and a higher docked resolution. The figures were reported by Nintendo Life on 15 September 2026, citing Blizzard’s official forum FAQ; they are not independent performance tests. Nintendo Life’s mode report is the available source for these figures.

For handheld play
Both modes are listed at 1080p, so the reported difference is their target frame rate: 30 fps for Quality and 40 fps for Performance. Start with Performance if motion smoothness matters more to you. Try Quality if you prefer its image-quality priority, while keeping in mind that the source does not quantify the visual difference.
For docked play
Quality Mode targets 1440p at 30 fps; Performance Mode targets 1080p at 40 fps. The 120 Hz-or-higher compatible-display condition applies to docked Performance Mode only, not handheld play or Quality Mode. Choose based on whether resolution or the higher frame-rate target matters more for your setup.

How to make the game easier to read
Resolution is only one part of readability. Blizzard’s general Diablo IV accessibility guidance describes options that can help distinguish characters and items, read menus, or adapt controls. Treat these as features to look for in the game rather than confirmed Switch 2 menu instructions: the guidance does not document Switch 2 paths or establish that every feature has identical availability and labels in this edition.
Try player and item highlighting
Blizzard describes outlines for players, enemies, objects, and NPCs, with a color selected by the player. If you have trouble picking out characters or objects during combat, try a color that stands out clearly against the game’s environments and effects.

Check audio and text accessibility options
- Screen reader: Blizzard says it can read text in in-game menus, with adjustable voice volume, speed, and type.
- Gear audio cues: Audio can help locate dropped items, with cues configurable by rarity.
Blizzard says Diablo IV has more than 50 individual accessibility features and encourages players to adjust settings to their needs. That figure is for the game’s general accessibility guidance, not a confirmed count of options on Switch 2.
Adapt controls if needed
The same guidance describes button remapping, a skill toggle, action-wheel activation options, and the ability to swap the left and right sticks. Check the Switch 2 version’s in-game menus to see which of these controls are available and how they are labeled.

Check the download and online requirements
Nintendo UK lists the Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection for Switch 2 with a 69.4 GB download size, an internet connection requirement, and a Battle.net account requirement to play. The file size is from the UK listing and can vary by region or after updates. Nintendo also notes that additional storage may be needed depending on console hardware and usage.
Nintendo announced the game as available on Switch 2 on 16 September 2026; the collection includes the base game, Vessel of Hatred, and Lord of Hatred. Nintendo UK lists 15 September 2026 as its release date, so availability and store details may differ by region.
