If you want a finer finish, DEWALT also sells the DWA112100, a 100-tooth Ultra Fine Finish blade. Neither is proven to give a better result on every wood, setup or saw. No independent comparison test backs a ranking, so this guide sticks to DEWALT’s own specifications and manual guidance.
The short list
| Blade | Diameter / teeth | DEWALT’s label | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| DWA11280 | 12 in, 80 teeth, 1-inch arbor | Fine Finish; miter-saw blade | Default choice for fine wood crosscuts |
| DWA112100 | 12 in, 100 teeth | Ultra Fine Finish | Wood crosscuts where you want the finest finish DEWALT lists in this size |
| DW7666 | 12 in, 80 teeth | Aluminum / non-ferrous metals | Metal only, not a woodworking finish blade |
DWA11280: the 80-tooth starting point
DEWALT describes the DWA11280 as a 12-inch, 80-tooth Fine Finish blade with a 1-inch arbor, made for miter saws. It has carbide teeth, optimized tooth geometry, and body slots intended to reduce vibration. Less vibration generally helps a cut stay clean, but DEWALT does not quantify the effect.

The 80-tooth count also matches the DWS780 manual. Its blade table lists 80 teeth for fine crosscuts.

That claim is undated and applies only to a stated comparison against the DW3232PT, cutting double-stacked 3/4-inch by 48-inch particle board. It is a vendor claim, not an independent test, and not a general lifespan guarantee.

DWA112100: the 100-tooth alternative
The DWA112100 is a 12-inch, 100-tooth blade labeled Ultra Fine Finish. DEWALT also mentions precision tensioning for added stiffness. A stiffer plate can help resist flex, but the available information does not show the 100-tooth blade is more precise than the 80-tooth for every job. Consider it when finish quality matters most, such as trim and visible joints. Remember that the cut still depends on blade condition, saw alignment, fence support, feed rate and the material.
Why DW7666 is not on the woodworking list
The DW7666 is also 12 inches and 80 teeth, but it is designed for aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. Choose it only for those materials. The DWS780 manual calls for TCG teeth for non-ferrous cutting and lists 96 teeth for that use, so check your own manual before buying a metal-cutting blade.

Check compatibility before you buy
Don’t assume every DEWALT 12-inch saw has the same requirements. The DWS780 manual says:
- Use a 12-inch blade with a 1-inch arbor.
- The blade must have a speed rating of at least 4800 RPM.
- Use crosscut blades only. The manual states: “Use crosscut blades only!”
- Do not use blades designed for ripping, or combination blades.
- Do not use blades with a hook angle above 7 degrees.
These directions are specific to the DWS780. Look up the manual for your exact saw, confirm the markings printed on the blade, and follow the manual’s steps for removal and installation. Unplug the saw before changing a blade.

How to choose
- Match the material. Wood needs a wood blade. Aluminum and other non-ferrous metals need a blade made for them.
- Match the cut. For precise crosscuts on a miter saw, use a crosscut blade. Do not use ripping or combination blades if your manual forbids them.
- Check fit and rating. Confirm diameter, arbor size, RPM rating and hook angle against your manual.
- Pick the tooth count. Start with 80 teeth (DWA11280). Step up to 100 teeth (DWA112100) if you want an ultra-fine finish and your saw permits it.
The Bottom Line
Buy the DWA11280 first for fine wood crosscuts. Choose the DWA112100 if you want DEWALT’s Ultra Fine Finish option. Before either purchase, check your saw’s manual for arbor, speed rating and hook-angle limits. Current prices and stock were not verified, so check them with the retailer.
