Its Matchmaker feature brings friends and family into the dating process, while Double Date lets you pair up with a friend to match and chat with other pairs in supported markets. Bumble offers a different kind of help: you can share another member’s profile with a friend, but you can’t currently ask friends to recommend someone for your own profile.
Which dating apps let friends help?
The best choice depends on what you want a friend to do. Reviewing someone you’re considering, passing a profile along for a second opinion, and dating alongside a friend are different features—not interchangeable kinds of recommendations.

| App and feature | What a friend can do | Important limits |
|---|---|---|
| Tinder Matchmaker | Friends and family can be involved in your dating journey and help assess profiles. | Tinder’s newsroom describes the feature, but the current invitation flow and detailed mechanics are not established in the official sources cited here. |
| Tinder Double Date | You and a friend pair up to match and chat with other pairs. | Available on Android, iOS, and web in select markets; it is not a universal profile-review feature. Check Tinder’s Double Date help page for current details. |
| Bumble Recommend to a Friend | You share another Bumble member’s profile with a friend using a link. | The recipient needs a Bumble account to view the profile. The person whose profile is shared is not notified. Bumble says members cannot currently request recommendations for their own profile. |
| Bumble Discover | No friend action is required: Bumble suggests profiles based on information and matching signals. | These are app-generated suggestions, not recommendations chosen by friends. |
How Tinder involves friends
Matchmaker: ask for another perspective
Tinder describes Matchmaker as a way to involve friends and family in the dating journey. That makes it the closest match for someone who wants a friend’s input on prospective dates. The official newsroom source does not establish the current invitation steps or precisely what a friend can see, so check the feature in your app before sharing anything sensitive. Tinder’s announcement of Double Date also refers to Matchmaker as part of its friend-involvement features.
Double Date: meet people as a pair
Double Date is for going into the matching experience with a friend: Tinder says the feature lets two friends pair up and match with other pairs. It is better suited to people who want a shared social experience than to someone seeking a friend’s private verdict on one profile. Tinder Help lists Android, iOS, and web support in select markets. Availability can vary by region, so look for Double Date in your app or consult Tinder Help before relying on it.

What Bumble’s friend recommendation feature actually does
Bumble’s Recommend to a Friend feature lets you send a link to another member’s profile by text, email, or another messaging app. Your friend needs a Bumble account to open it, and Bumble says the member whose profile you shared is not notified. This is useful when you have spotted someone a friend might like; it does not let you ask your contacts to find or recommend matches for you.
Bumble’s support page, last updated January 15, 2026, says: “There’s no way to request a recommendation just yet.” See Bumble’s instructions for recommending people for the current sharing details.

Don’t confuse app suggestions with friends’ recommendations
Bumble Discover is a separate feature. It uses profile information and past matches to surface people with similar interests, dating goals, and communities. Bumble says four new people are highlighted in “Recommended for you.” The label refers to Bumble’s own suggestions—not profiles selected by your friends. Details are on Bumble’s Discover support page.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose Tinder Matchmaker if your priority is involving friends or family in considering potential matches, while checking the current in-app setup and what it shares.
- Choose Tinder Double Date if you want to meet and match with other pairs alongside a friend and the feature is available in your market.
- Use Bumble Recommend to a Friend if you want to send a particular Bumble profile to a friend for their view. It is not a way to solicit recommendations for your own profile.
- Treat Bumble Discover as an algorithmic aid if you want Bumble to suggest profiles based on its stated signals; it does not involve friends choosing people for you.
Feature names, mechanics, and regional availability can change. Confirm the option in your app and read the linked official support page before making plans around a feature.
