If you want the closest match to Blade Runner, start with the 1997 Blade Runner game: it puts detective Ray McCoy in the film’s universe hunting rogue androids. For a modern cyberpunk detective story, choose Nobody Wants to Die; for a darker investigation, Observer: System Redux; and for procedural casework in a simulated city, Shadows of Doubt.

At a glance: which game fits?

Game Best fit Investigation and tone Connection to Blade Runner
Blade Runner (1997) Fans who want the film universe and a classic detective adventure Point-and-click crime investigation with a noir framing Direct: the same time and universe as the 1982 film
Nobody Wants to Die Fans of a story-led cyberpunk detective noir Authored investigation with choices and multiple endings Shares cyberpunk, detective, and noir themes, but is not set in the film’s universe
Observer: System Redux Fans open to psychological horror First-person detective work that includes entering suspects’ minds to find clues Cyberpunk detective premise, with a more pronounced horror focus
Shadows of Doubt Fans who want open-ended, systemic casework Evidence gathering in procedurally generated cities populated by simulated citizens A sci-fi noir cousin, not a direct adaptation

Start with the 1997 Blade Runner game for the closest match

Westwood Studios’ 1997 adventure follows detective Ray McCoy as he hunts rogue androids in the same time and universe as the 1982 film. That shared setting makes it the clearest choice if you want to return to the world itself rather than just find a game with similar themes. GOG categorizes it as an investigation, point-and-click, crime, and noir game, and lists multiple endings without establishing a reliable exact count. See the current GOG listing for Blade Runner.

Its format is a classic point-and-click adventure, so choose it for authored detective storytelling rather than the freedom of a modern open-ended simulation. GOG’s current listing says it supports Windows, Linux, and macOS; confirm the available edition and platform details for your region on the store page.

Choose a modern cyberpunk detective story

Nobody Wants to Die: noir, investigation, and choices

Steam presents Nobody Wants to Die as a cyberpunk detective noir game, tagging it for investigation, choices that matter, and multiple endings. It is a good fit when you want a contemporary story-led mystery with noir atmosphere, but it does not share the Blade Runner film setting. Check the Steam listing for Nobody Wants to Die.

  • A fully cooperative immersive game night experience

Observer: System Redux: detective work with psychological horror

Observer: System Redux casts you as an investigator in a first-person cyberpunk horror story. Its distinctive investigative device is entering suspects’ minds to extract clues. That makes it the strongest horror choice among these recommendations, rather than a straightforward noir adventure. Steam flags frequent violence and gore as well as mature content, so check the listing’s content information if those are concerns. The listing names Bloober Team and Anshar Studios as developers. Check the Steam listing for Observer: System Redux.

Pick Shadows of Doubt for procedural casework

If your priority is building a case rather than following a tightly authored mystery, Shadows of Doubt is the clearest fit. Steam describes procedurally generated cities, simulated citizens, and evidence gathering as a private investigator. That emphasis makes it a sci-fi noir cousin to Blade Runner, not a close adaptation or film-universe story. Check the Steam listing for Shadows of Doubt.
