The first decision is whether support should work inside the company’s existing CRM, sharing customer records and front-office workflows, or whether agents need a dedicated service platform centered on ticketing and support operations. The five products below are distinct candidates supported by current vendor product and pricing information—not a complete market inventory or a hands-on performance ranking.
Salesforce Service Cloud is a natural candidate for organizations already using Salesforce and needing configurable case management. HubSpot Service Hub fits teams that want service activity in the HubSpot environment. Zendesk and Freshdesk are dedicated help-desk candidates, while Zoho Desk may suit businesses already using Zoho. Compare each against the same support workload, channel requirements, AI usage, and total-cost assumptions before choosing.

How the five candidates differ
This comparison separates CRM-connected service suites from dedicated help desks. The products are ordered by their primary fit, not by test results: the available information is vendor-authored, and does not establish a neutral quality ranking or independently verified performance.

| Product | Starting point | Price information available for 2026 | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Salesforce Service Cloud | CRM-connected service, case management, help center, routing, and service channels | Salesforce lists Core at $195 per user per month and Max at $550 per user per month, both billed annually, on its 2026 US product/pricing page. | Salesforce Starter Suite starts at $25 per user per month, billed monthly or annually, but is a broader suite and is not equivalent to Core or the higher-tier service plans. |
| HubSpot Service Hub | Service operations in the same HubSpot environment as customer and front-office activity | Current pricing page describes Starter, Professional, and Enterprise; a comparable subscription price is not stated here. Additional HubSpot Credits are listed at $0.010 each. | Included credits vary by tier, and unused monthly credits do not roll over. Confirm the exact service entitlements and quote. |
| Zendesk | Dedicated service platform for ticketing, agent workspace, knowledge, automation, analytics, and integrations | Zendesk’s 2026 comparison lists a starting figure of $19 per agent per month, billed annually. | Zendesk says add-ons may be billed separately by seat, use, or add-on; plan and purchase path affect availability. |
| Freshdesk | Standalone help desk for ticketing, workflows, and channel support | A comparable subscription price is not stated in the available Freshworks comparison information. | Some AI capabilities may require add-ons; full omnichannel capabilities may require Freshdesk Omni. |
| Zoho Desk | Service workflows and messaging ecosystem, particularly relevant to businesses already using Zoho | The checked Zoho pricing page shows Indian-rupee amounts; a US price is not established here. | Feature availability varies by edition. Do not convert the displayed Indian prices into a US price claim. |
All price figures are vendor-published and volatile, not comparable total-cost estimates or quotes. The Salesforce figures are from its 2026 US product/pricing page; Zendesk’s $19 figure is from its 2026 vendor comparison and is billed annually. HubSpot’s credit price is for additional credits, not a Service Hub subscription. The available Zoho pricing information is in Indian rupees. In every case, the plan, seat basis, billing term, AI usage, channels, add-ons, support, and contract conditions affect what a team will pay. Check the vendor’s current page and written quote for the geography and purchase path that apply to you.

1. Salesforce Service Cloud: for Salesforce-centered support operations
Consider Service Cloud when a company already runs Salesforce or wants service teams to work with configurable CRM-connected case management. Salesforce describes service capabilities that include a help center, routing, and service channels. That makes it a candidate for organizations that want cases and customer context to live alongside their Salesforce environment rather than making a separate help desk the operational center.
Plans and price information
Salesforce’s 2026 US product/pricing page lists its Core service edition at $195 per user per month, billed annually, and Max at $550 per user per month, billed annually. The page also lists Starter Suite from $25 per user per month, billed monthly or annually, and notes transaction fees. Starter Suite is a broader suite, not a like-for-like lower-priced Service Cloud edition; do not compare its entry figure directly with Core or Max.
Trade-offs and fit
- Best fit: organizations already invested in Salesforce, or teams that need configurable service workflows connected to their CRM.
- Check before purchase: identify the exact edition and service entitlements in the quote, then model paid users and any required channels, integrations, implementation, and AI usage.
- Limitation in the available information: no independent comparative test establishes how Salesforce performs against the other products here, and the published list figures do not establish a team’s complete cost.
2. HubSpot Service Hub: for teams keeping service in HubSpot
HubSpot Service Hub is a candidate for companies that want customer service work in the same HubSpot environment as customer and front-office activity. HubSpot describes Starter, Professional, and Enterprise editions. This shared-environment fit is its clearest distinction in the available information; it does not establish that every CRM record, workflow, or feature is included in every tier.

HubSpot’s current Service Hub pricing page describes the three editions but does not provide a comparable subscription price in the information available here. It says included HubSpot Credits vary by tier and lists extra credits at $0.010 per credit. Unused monthly credits do not roll over. That is a usage-price detail, not the cost of a Service Hub seat or an estimate of total AI spend.

- PREPRINTED: These receipts are pre-printed with common salon services but also include a blank line for added flexibility. There is a space for operator's name as well as the amount due per service and a total amount due.
- PERFORATED: The pad is perforated on top allowing one for your records and other for check out at the register.
- BULK PACK: Each pad includes 100 sheets that are numbered in sequence for easy reference.
- CONVENIENT SIZE: The pad measures 5.25" tall and 3" wide making it easy to use and store.
Trade-offs and fit
- Best fit: teams seeking continuity between service activity and other work already conducted in HubSpot.
- Check before purchase: get the edition-specific feature and included-credit allocation in writing, and estimate expected credit use over the same period used to compare subscription quotes.
- Limitation in the available information: the available pricing details do not support a US subscription-price comparison across Starter, Professional, and Enterprise.
3. Zendesk: for a dedicated support workspace
Zendesk is a dedicated service-platform candidate for teams that prioritize ticketing, an agent workspace, knowledge, automation, analytics, and integrations. This starting point may suit support organizations that want the agent experience and ticket process to be central, rather than treating service primarily as one module inside a broader CRM.
Plans and price information
Zendesk’s 2026 comparison page lists a starting figure of $19 per agent per month, billed annually. Its pricing information warns that add-ons can carry separate charges by seat, use, or add-on, and that availability varies with plan and purchase path. The starting figure therefore does not establish which channels, AI functions, analytics, or other capabilities a particular team receives.
Trade-offs and fit
- Best fit: teams looking for a purpose-built support platform with ticketing and agent operations at its center.
- Check before purchase: match the required ticket workflows, knowledge, analytics, integrations, channels, and add-ons to a written plan quote. Model usage-based charges as well as seat costs.
- Limitation in the available information: the vendor comparison and pricing page are not independent evidence of relative product quality or a complete cost for a specific team.
4. Freshdesk: for standalone help-desk ticketing and workflows
Freshdesk is a standalone help-desk candidate for teams evaluating ticketing, workflows, and channel support. Freshworks’ comparison indicates that the scope of the configuration matters: some AI capabilities may require add-ons, and full omnichannel capabilities may require Freshdesk Omni. A base plan should not be assumed to include every channel or AI feature a support team may want.
Plans and price information
A comparable Freshdesk subscription price is not stated in the available Freshworks comparison information, so there is no supported figure here to place beside the published Salesforce or Zendesk starting prices.
Rank #3
Trade-offs and fit
- Best fit: teams seeking a standalone help desk for ticketing and workflows, with channel needs that fit the selected configuration.
- Check before purchase: have the vendor identify which AI features require add-ons and whether the channels in the team’s actual workflow require Freshdesk Omni.
- Limitation in the available information: the available comparison does not establish a Freshdesk price or prove that a particular plan includes a team’s desired omnichannel configuration.
5. Zoho Desk: for businesses in the Zoho ecosystem
Zoho Desk is a candidate for businesses already using Zoho or those drawn to its service workflow and messaging ecosystem. The material available here does not establish a detailed feature-by-feature comparison against the other products, so the edition and required capabilities matter especially when shortlisting it.
Plans and price information
The checked Zoho pricing page shows prices in Indian rupees. A US price is not established by that page information, and converting those amounts would not produce a reliable US price claim. Feature availability varies by edition.
Trade-offs and fit
- Best fit: teams already working in Zoho or considering its service and messaging ecosystem.
- Check before purchase: confirm the local US price and the edition-specific availability of the workflows and messaging functions the team needs.
- Limitation in the available information: Indian-rupee pricing cannot be used as a US quote, and edition-specific features should not be assumed to be uniform.
Choose by architecture before comparing features
A CRM for service can mean two different operating models. A CRM-connected service suite puts support in the context of a wider customer-data system; a dedicated help desk makes the support workspace and ticket process the starting point. Neither model is inherently better. The cost of a mismatch can show up in duplicated customer records, extra handoffs, or workflows that agents cannot manage naturally.
- Favor a CRM-connected suite when agents need customer context and service processes tied closely to the company’s existing CRM and front-office work. Salesforce Service Cloud and HubSpot Service Hub are the candidates in this shortlist positioned around that connection.
- Favor a dedicated help desk when ticketing, agent workspace, knowledge, and support operations are the main requirements. Zendesk and Freshdesk are the dedicated service candidates described here.
- Consider ecosystem alignment when a company already uses Zoho and wants to assess its service workflow and messaging options.
These are architecture-led fits, not claims that one product has superior quality. Salesforce’s customer-service guide says the right software depends on a company’s strategy, budget, and needed features; that is Salesforce’s own guidance, not an independent comparative finding.

Run a like-for-like evaluation
Use one representative workload for every vendor meeting and quote. For example, take a common support case from initial contact through assignment, escalation, resolution, and follow-up. Ask each vendor to show the same scenario with the same user roles, channels, and expected workload. This makes differences in configuration and cost easier to see than comparing unrelated feature lists.
- Map the current customer-data system. Write down where customer records live and what agents need to see while resolving a case. Determine whether the proposed service tool shares that context or requires synchronization across systems.
- List the channels and handoffs. Specify the channels agents actually handle—such as email, chat, voice, messaging, or social—and check whether a customer’s conversation stays connected when it moves between channels. Do not treat a general “omnichannel” label as proof that a needed channel is included.
- Define the ticket or case workflow. Document assignment, routing, escalation, service-level targets, custom fields, and internal collaboration. Ask the vendor to demonstrate those steps using the team’s scenario.
- Test self-service and knowledge needs. Establish whether the team needs a customer portal or help center, article management, multilingual content, and a practical way for agents to find and share answers. Confirm which edition provides each required capability.
- Unpack automation and AI. Separate included features from higher-edition capabilities and add-ons. Record whether AI is billed by seat, credits, conversation, or another usage basis, and ask how usage limits and controls work.
- Build a total-cost comparison. Use the same contract period and expected usage for all options. Include paid agents and supervisors, channels, AI, add-ons, integrations, implementation, support, data migration, and any other required service. An entry price is only a screening figure, not a comparable total-cost estimate.
How to interpret vendor comparisons and AI claims
Vendor product pages and comparisons can clarify what a company says its product includes, but they are promotional sources rather than neutral tests. Salesforce explicitly discloses a financial interest in the products featured in its customer-service software guide. Freshworks’ comparison is also vendor-authored. Treat product claims as questions to verify in a scenario-based demo and quote, not as independently established rankings.
AI labels are particularly poor substitutes for plan details. Compare the specific functions a team would use, the edition or add-on required, any usage limits or controls, and the billing basis. A seat price cannot by itself predict credit- or usage-based costs. Zendesk also cites a figure that 70 percent of consumers see a clear gap between companies that use AI well and those that do not, attributing it to Zendesk’s 2026 Customer Experience Trends Report. This is a vendor-reported statistic as cited on Zendesk’s comparison page, not an independent measure of which platform performs best.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a CRM the same as a help desk?
No. In this comparison, CRM-connected service suites put support alongside wider customer records and front-office workflows, while dedicated help desks center the agent workspace and ticket process. A product may include overlapping functions, so assess the actual workflow rather than relying on its category label.

Can I compare these products by their advertised starting prices?
Not reliably. The figures use different seat terms and billing conditions, and do not establish the cost of equivalent channels, AI use, add-ons, implementation, or support. HubSpot’s additional-credit rate is usage pricing rather than a subscription price; Zoho’s cited page shows Indian-rupee amounts rather than a US price.
What should I ask about AI before buying customer service software?
Ask which specific AI functions are included in the quoted edition, which require add-ons, what limits and controls apply, and how usage is charged. The billing basis may be seats, credits, conversations, or another measure, so compare expected use as well as subscription cost.
Are these recommendations based on independent product testing?
No. The available product and comparison information is vendor-authored and does not establish an independent quality ranking or hands-on performance results. Use it to build a shortlist, then compare the same support scenario in demonstrations and written quotes.
