The best coffee maker with a built-in grinder depends on whether you want a full pot, single-serve options, more brew controls, or a compact footprint. For a multi-format machine, consider the Café Specialty Grind & Brew; for a documented compact width, compare the GE Profile Smart Grind and Brew; and for batch brewing with a glass carafe, look at the BLACK+DECKER Mill+Brew. Check the exact model, dimensions, and serving sizes before buying: “cup” does not mean the same volume across coffee makers.
What to look for in a grind-and-brew coffee maker
A grind-and-brew machine combines grinding whole beans and brewing filter coffee in one appliance. That can simplify the routine, but the grinder, serving format, controls, cleanup, and counter fit matter more than the mere presence of a grinder.

- Serving pattern: Decide whether you need one mug, a travel cup, or a carafe. Compare the maker’s stated capacity with the way it defines a cup.
- Grinder and flexibility: Look for documented grinder type and adjustability, and check whether the machine can brew without grinding when you want to use pre-ground coffee.
- Brew controls: Strength selection, styles, scheduling, and app features can make a machine more adaptable, but only if you will use them.
- Cleaning and access: A grinder adds parts and areas to maintain. Check how the grinder and brew basket are accessed, and weigh attributed owner or reviewer observations rather than assuming cleanup is easy.
- Counter clearance: Compare height, width, and depth with the space available, including room beneath cabinets to open or remove components.
- Certification: Treat certification as a model-specific screening point, not a guarantee about every product from a brand.
Top coffee makers with built-in grinders
The models below illustrate different priorities. Their features are from manufacturer or certification listings; this is not an independently tested ranking.
| Model | Documented features | Best fit to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Café Specialty Grind & Brew | The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) lists a 10-cup capacity, built-in grinder, podless single serve, built-in carbon water filter, and SmartHQ app. Its listing says “Certified 2023.” | Households that want both a single serving and a carafe format in an SCA-listed model. |

Which machine fits your coffee routine?
For both single servings and a pot
The Café Specialty Grind & Brew is the clearest match among these listed options if you want podless single serve as well as a carafe-capacity machine. The SCA listing gives it a 10-cup capacity, but confirm the current product configuration and serving details before purchase.
#1 Best Overall
- Note: 1)Too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing can all lead to inadequate pressure for a proper brew. 2)It is important to note that the amount of espresso extracted will vary depending on the grind size and amount and reprogramming may be needed when the size and amount are adjusted. Please refer to user guide or user manual or user guide (provided below in PDF) before first use
- Fabric Type: Plastic
For a tighter counter space
The GE Profile SKU P7CGAAS6TBB has a manufacturer-listed width of 7.5 inches. Its height is 16.4 inches and depth is 12.30 inches, so width alone does not establish whether it will fit. Measure the full available space and overhead clearance.
For flexible output formats
Breville lists brewing into a carafe, tall cup, or travel mug, along with an adjustable grinder and auto-start programming. Homes & Gardens reports that its own testing found the grind adjustment and eight strength settings useful, while also noting cleaning and size drawbacks. Those are that publication’s observations, not results of testing for this guide.

For several brew sizes and styles
De’Longhi lists six sizes and five styles for the TrueBrew. Its “espresso-style” is one of the listed styles; this is still a drip coffee maker, not an espresso machine.
For conventional batch brewing with a bypass
The BLACK+DECKER CM5000B includes a grinder-off setting, so it can accommodate a brew cycle without grinding. Its approximate five-ounce serving definition is useful context for the “12-cup” label, but actual output can vary with brewing technique.

- 2 BREW STYLES: Classic or Rich, each brew is flavorful and never bitter with custom brew strengths.
- 12-CUP GLASS CARAFE: Brew small or large batches of coffee – perfect for day to day or entertaining.
- HOTTER BREWING TECHNOLOGY: Delivers even saturation and temperature control for ultra-flavorful coffee.
- SMALL BATCH FUNCTION: Ensure your coffee is never diluted when brewing a small batch (1-4 cups).
- WAKE UP TO HOT COFFEE: 24-hour programmable delay brew allows you to prepare your brew up to a day in advance.
How to compare capacity and serving sizes
Do not treat a maker’s “cup” label as equivalent to a standard mug. BLACK+DECKER says its serving is approximately five ounces and can vary with brewing technique. The Café listing gives a 10-cup capacity, while the GE listing gives 2.6 liters; those figures use different units and should not be compared as if they were identical serving definitions.
Start with the amount you actually pour. If you usually fill a travel mug, check whether the machine supports that format directly, as Breville says the BDC650 does. If you want a pot for several people, confirm the carafe format and capacity, and look for the manufacturer’s definition of a “cup” where available.

What SCA certification tells you
The SCA’s home-equipment page lists the Café Specialty Grind & Brew and GE Profile Smart Grind and Brew as “Certified 2023.” The SCA says equipment is evaluated at a third-party testing centre and that certification includes a three-year licensing period. Certification is tied to the listed equipment and its certification status; check the live SCA listing for the exact model rather than assuming another version or later variant shares it. See the SCA certified home equipment list.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsBuilt-in grinder or separate grinder and brewer?
An all-in-one machine reduces the number of appliances and combines grinding with the brew cycle. That convenience comes with a more integrated setup: if one part no longer suits your needs, you may have fewer options to replace or upgrade it independently.
A separate grinder and filter brewer let you choose or change each component on its own. That is a flexibility trade-off, not a guarantee of better coffee. Choose based on your available counter space, desired control, and tolerance for a multi-step routine.
Quick Recap
Check the exact model before buying
- Match the full model number and configuration to the manufacturer listing, particularly for GE variants.
- Measure height, width, depth, and the clearance needed to access the bean hopper and brew components.
- Confirm whether the machine supports your preferred serving format and whether its stated capacity suits your household.
- Review cleaning instructions and access to the grinder and brew basket; built-in grinding does not remove the need for upkeep.
- Verify current regional availability and electrical specifications on the maker’s product page. Prices and configurations can change.
