Check destinations and production needs
If YouTube is the only destination, a YouTube-focused looping workflow may be all you need. If you also need Facebook, custom RTMP, or an embedded player on the church website, compare those capabilities explicitly. Castr lists multiple destinations and a website player; Restream describes multistreaming and custom RTMP. These features do not by themselves establish continuous-loop support.
If the church is capturing a service live with cameras, microphones, and a sound-board feed, that is a separate production chain from cloud playout of recordings. Castr’s church guidance describes camera and sound-board input through a hardware or software encoder such as OBS, along with reliable upload bandwidth. Those live-capture components do not replace a cloud service for looping files.
Confirm the plan limits that affect your library
Before subscribing, compare storage, allowed file size or duration, resolution, simultaneous streams, playlist or scheduler access, destinations, and support availability. The exact limits and included features are plan-dependent for Gyre and Castr; provider pages can change, so verify the current terms at checkout.

Run a test before committing
Ask the provider to demonstrate the workflow using one of the church’s own service recordings. This is a practical verification checklist, not a claim of hands-on testing:
- Upload or import a service file and check that its format, size, and duration are accepted.
- Create the actual schedule or playlist you intend to use. Confirm whether it plays once, restarts, or loops continuously.
- Connect the church’s YouTube channel or stream key, then confirm which channel and stream the provider will use.
- Watch the stream as a viewer while the file starts, ends, and restarts. Check what viewers see between playlist items.
- Confirm whether the YouTube live archive is retained as expected and who controls the archive settings.
- Verify the plan’s storage, resolution, concurrency, destination, and support limits against the church’s use case, including any additional cost.
Copyright and YouTube considerations
A cloud service plays the recording; it does not grant rights to the service’s music or other copyrighted material. Castr’s church guidance says streaming worship music generally requires a streaming license, gives CCLI as an example, and says Castr does not clear music rights. Confirm that the church’s license covers its particular recordings, online streaming, and intended use with its licensing provider.
Also check the current YouTube rules and the church’s own channel settings before scheduling a continuous broadcast. No provider’s ability to send a stream should be treated as proof that the content is licensed or that a particular recording will be eligible for every YouTube feature.
