The settings that matter most are a wired PC-to-router connection, a bitrate your sustained upload can support, YouTube’s recommended encoder settings, and monitoring the stream’s health. You ordinarily do not need a static IP or port forwarding to send an OBS stream out to YouTube.
Recommended settings for OBS and YouTube Live
Set the encoder for a stable, sustained connection rather than the fastest speed shown in an advertised plan. YouTube’s figures below are encoder recommendations, not guarantees that a particular BSNL or Jio connection can hold that bitrate around the clock. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate and checking stream health during a representative test: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.

The recommendations and minimums are YouTube platform guidance for H.264, not measured BSNL or Jio performance. Choose a lower output if your upload fluctuates, and leave capacity for audio, other household traffic, and normal variation. OBS suggests using 75% of total upload as a starting point when setting bitrate; treat that as a troubleshooting guideline, not a universal rule or an assurance of uninterrupted streaming: OBS Stream Connection Troubleshooting.

Set the encoder basics
- Rate control: CBR (constant bitrate).
- Keyframe interval: 2 seconds; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Protocol: Use RTMPS if your encoder supports it. RTMPS carries RTMP over an SSL connection, encrypting data to Google’s servers: YouTube encoder settings and About RTMPS.
- Codec: YouTube’s encoder guidance supports H.264, H.265, and AV1. The bitrate table above is specifically for H.264.
Make the Windows network path as stable as possible
Connect by Ethernet
When practical, connect the Windows PC directly to the router or ONT with Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi. OBS warns that Wi-Fi may be unstable for streaming and recommends a wired connection. Jio’s support guidance likewise describes wired LAN as faster and more stable than Wi-Fi for streaming: OBS troubleshooting and Jio device connectivity guidance. Ethernet can improve the local PC-to-router link, but it cannot prevent an ISP-side outage or congestion.

Measure sustained upload, not just advertised speed
Run upload tests at the location and time you intend to stream, then test the actual OBS-to-YouTube stream at the chosen resolution and bitrate. Look for upload variation, dropped frames, and YouTube stream-health warnings—not only the peak result from a speed test. A residential plan’s advertised download speed does not establish its sustained upload performance.
Include representative movement and audio in the test. A static screen may be easier to encode than the real content, so test with a scene that resembles the intended stream and monitor YouTube’s stream health and messages.

Do you need a BSNL or Jio static IP, firewall change, or port forwarding?
For a normal outbound OBS stream, the encoder sends video to YouTube’s ingest service. The BSNL Kolkata document titled “Static IP and server configuration” covers modem-side virtual servers for hosting services such as FTP or HTTP; it does not establish that a static IP, disabled firewall, or port forwarding is needed to send a stream to YouTube: BSNL Static IP and server configuration.
Jio’s consumer router guidance discusses device security and managing the router through MyJio, not a model-independent setting for 24/7 YouTube ingest. JioBusiness material on static IPv4 and port forwarding describes a distinct business offering; it is not evidence that residential streamers need those features. Keep router security enabled unless you have a specific, diagnosed reason to change it.

Troubleshoot dropped frames and disconnects
If OBS reports dropped frames or disconnects, start with the network path and bitrate. A DNS, MTU, static-IP, or port-forwarding change is not an evidence-based first fix for an outbound YouTube stream.
- Dropped frames or unstable bitrate: Reduce OBS bitrate and retest. If possible, connect over Ethernet and check whether other devices or uploads are using the connection.
- Disconnects continue at a lower bitrate: Record timestamps and OBS logs, then ask your ISP to check for local line faults or congestion. A lower bitrate can reduce pressure on a constrained connection but cannot repair an underlying fault.
- OBS binding or network tweaks: Keep OBS “Bind to IP” at “Default” unless you have a specific reason to select another interface. OBS also describes Windows network optimization/TCP pacing and dynamic bitrate as possible troubleshooting options. Dynamic bitrate may lower quality and does not fix the underlying connection problem.
- Security software appears to interfere: Identify the cause before changing protection. OBS suggests checking for interference and adding a program exception if security software is confirmed as the issue; do not leave security software disabled as a permanent workaround.
- Router administration: Jio recommends managing the router through MyJio and securing Wi-Fi credentials. These are account and router security practices, not special settings for a wired encoder PC.
How to compare BSNL and Jio for your own stream
There is no fair, current, nationwide BSNL-versus-Jio performance comparison in the available provider guidance. Performance depends on location, plan, equipment, local congestion, and the path to YouTube. Compare the connections at your address using the same practical criteria:

- YouTube’s stream-health results over the duration you need.
- How quickly the provider can investigate local faults in your area.
- Whether you can run Ethernet from the Windows PC to the router.
Neither the ISP name nor advertised download speed alone proves that a connection can maintain a 24/7 stream. Test locally and confirm persistent faults with the provider before relying on the setup.
