Do not rely on “4-inch” alone. It may refer to a nominal opening or product size, while the cutout and flange dimensions determine whether a plate fits the hole and covers the surrounding surface. Measure the existing opening and the flat area available for the flange, then compare those measurements with the exact model’s specifications. West Marine gives specific opening, cutout and flange figures for its SFRH2-004-02; the other listings above do not state comparable dimensions.

Check the lid and mounting style
Screw-out or screw-in describes the lid mechanism, not a universal fit or mounting method. Check whether the lid detaches, how it opens, and whether the listing supports the intended horizontal or vertical installation. The Bass Pro SEAFLO listing describes screw-out, tool-free access; the West Marine SEAFLO listing describes a detachable screw-out lid. Confirm the installation instructions and fastener requirements for the model you select.

The West Marine SEAFLO listing names UV-stabilized polypropylene and an integrated rubber gasket; Fisheries Supply names polypropylene and a nitrile O-ring for the Tempress plate. These descriptions do not establish a watertight rating, so do not infer one from the product category or the presence of a gasket or O-ring.

Consider the location and task when choosing surface and visibility features. A non-skid or non-slip lid may suit an area where people step; color and a clear center affect visibility and appearance.
