Best Aternos Alternatives in 2026 for Minecraft Servers

Godlike.Host is listed first among the paid Aternos alternatives, while Minehut, FalixNodes and Minefort are the free ones. Compare RAM, sleep rules, renewals, mod support and real recurring prices before moving your world.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Minehut, FalixNodes and Minefort are the most practical free Aternos alternatives for a small, casual Minecraft world in 2026. Expect the same basic trade-off: free servers sleep when nobody is playing, have limited RAM or slots, and may require periodic renewal. For a genuinely 24/7 world, budget paid hosting instead; reported entry plans range from about $1 to $7 per month, while modded or larger servers generally need 8 GB RAM or more.

Godlike.Host is listed first in the paid-hosting table below: it offers Minecraft Java, Bedrock and modded servers on its own game panel, with up to three free backups a day and a built-in mod installer.

Prices and specifications below come from 2026 comparison pages and search-result summaries rather than verified provider billing pages. Promotional first-month prices, renewal rates, regional eligibility and deletion policies can change, so confirm those details at checkout.

  • [Deep Bass with Clear Vocals] High-performance drivers produce punchy bass while keeping vocals clean and detailed for everyday listening.
  • Free, up to a few friends: Start with Minehut, FalixNodes or Minefort. Their free tiers are easy to try, but idle shutdowns and low memory limit ambitious worlds.
  • Free with a larger advertised allowance: FalixNodes is worth checking, although published figures conflict between 2 GB and 4 GB RAM and eligibility can depend on country.
  • Always-on vanilla server: Choose a paid plan with at least 2–4 GB RAM. A free host that sleeps cannot provide dependable 24/7 access.
  • Modpacks, many plugins or 10–20 players: Plan for 8 GB RAM or more and check CPU allocation, storage and backups—not RAM alone.
  • Managed simplicity: A service such as Minecraft Java Realms offers a fixed official-style tier, but less server-panel control than independent hosting. A 2026 comparison roundup reported $7.99 per month; that figure was not verified on Mojang’s site.

Most “best of 2026” rankings are published by hosting companies that sell the services they list. Treat them as leads, not independent lab tests; compare renewal prices and policies yourself. Examples include the provider-written roundups at WiseHosting, Loafhosts and PowerUpStack.

What to compare before leaving Aternos

Idle shutdown and real uptime

Aternos is commonly described as stopping a few minutes after the last player leaves. Free competitors use similar sleep policies to control costs. “Online” on a status page therefore does not necessarily mean an empty server will remain running. Ask whether the plan is always-on, how quickly it starts when a player joins, and whether startup queues apply.

RAM, CPU and player slots

RAM is the easiest specification to advertise, but it is not the whole performance picture. A small vanilla world can run on 1–2 GB, while view distance, exploration, plugins and mod loaders increase memory and CPU demand. For modded or larger communities, 8 GB or more is a sensible starting point according to 2026 cost guides. Check whether RAM is dedicated or shared, whether CPU limits are stated, and whether slots are hard limits or merely recommendations.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Renewal, deletion and regional rules

Some free plans require a click or login to remain active; others delete a server after a period of inactivity. Server.pro is reported as deleting free servers after 12 hours unless they are renewed or upgraded. FalixNodes is reported as restricting its free tier to eligible countries, and one comparison says daily renewal may be required. These policies matter as much as the advertised memory.

Software and data controls

Confirm support for the exact Java version, mod loader, plugins, scheduled backups, file manager and FTP/SFTP access you need. A simple panel is useful for beginners, while FTP and downloadable backups make migration and recovery easier.

Best free Aternos alternatives

Minehut: easiest small free server

Comparison pages commonly report Minehut’s free tier at 1 GB RAM, 10 player slots and 10 GB storage. It sleeps when empty and includes a built-in server browser. Those limits make it appropriate for a few friends running a lightweight vanilla world, not for a large modpack or a permanently available community server.

Choose Minehut when a simple start-up experience and discoverability matter more than uptime. Before moving a busy world, test your actual seed, render distance and plugins within the 1 GB allowance; a world that starts can still become unstable as players explore new terrain.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

FalixNodes: attractive allowance, conflicting figures

FalixNodes is frequently listed as a leading free alternative because it offers a file manager and FTP. Published comparisons disagree on the free allocation: some state 2 GB RAM, others 4 GB. The sources also describe country eligibility limits, and one review mentions daily renewal.

Because those figures cannot be reconciled from the available evidence, check the current panel for your country and account before committing. Confirm the exact RAM, renewal interval, storage and whether the advertised allowance is shared or dedicated. If the free tier is available to you, FTP and file access can make backups and mod installation more convenient than a minimal panel.

Minefort: another lightweight option

Minefort is reported at 1 GB RAM and is not online 24/7. It fits the same use case as other free, sleep-based hosts: short sessions with a few players and a modest vanilla world. It is a poor match if friends expect to join at any time or if your modpack needs more memory.

  • [Dont Hesite to Order] 24 hours customer services and professional technology team are standing by

Server.pro: watch the deletion timer

Free Server.pro servers are reported as being deleted after 12 hours unless renewed or upgraded. That is a materially stricter policy than simply sleeping while empty. Download a backup before experimenting, set a calendar reminder if you use the free tier, and do not treat it as archival storage for a world you cannot replace.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Orca: a large vendor claim that needs verification

Orca’s own 2026 comparison material claims 8 GB dedicated RAM, up to 40 players and no credit card on its free tier. Because this is the vendor’s own claim, not an independent measurement, verify the allocation, uptime, renewal rules, geographic availability and acceptable-use terms before moving a valuable world. It may be compelling on paper, but the unusually high free allowance deserves the same practical load test you would apply to any new host.

Free-tier comparison

Service Reported free specification Uptime or renewal condition Useful feature Important uncertainty
Minehut 1 GB RAM; 10 slots; 10 GB storage Sleeps when empty Built-in server browser Figures are from comparison summaries; verify current limits
FalixNodes 2 GB or 4 GB RAM (sources conflict) Free tier limited to eligible countries; one review reports daily renewal File manager and FTP Confirm RAM, country eligibility and renewal in your account
Minefort 1 GB RAM Not online 24/7 Free trial path for small worlds Player-slot and storage limits not stated
Server.pro Not stated in the cited summary Reported deletion after 12 hours unless renewed or upgraded Free entry point Back up frequently; verify the timer
Orca Vendor claims 8 GB dedicated RAM and up to 40 players No credit card claimed; other renewal terms not stated Large advertised allowance Self-published claim; test and verify all conditions

Free-host specifications change frequently. The table records what 2026 comparison pages reported, not a guarantee of what a new account will receive.

Paid alternatives for dependable uptime

Paid hosting removes the central free-tier compromise: the server can remain running when empty. Entry prices below are reported figures, often promotional or tied to a billing term. Compare the renewal price, cancellation rules, backups and hardware allocation before paying.

Provider and plan reported Advertised starting price Reported resources Focus Pricing qualification
Godlike.Host See the current plans Minecraft Java, Bedrock and modded servers; plan sizes vary Minecraft hosting with a full game panel, backups and a mod installer Prices change with region and on-page offers; check the current plans
PebbleHost $1/month 1 GB RAM Cheapest small vanilla test Reported entry price; renewal and billing term not stated
Gravel Host From $1.80/month 2 GB RAM Budget vanilla server Verify recurring price and location
GGServers $3/month 1 GB RAM Small private world Reported starting figure; plan details can change
ServerPrism From $4.74/month 2 GB RAM Modest community server Confirm whether the amount is promotional
Loafhosts $5/month 4 GB RAM; unlimited players reported More headroom for vanilla plugins “Unlimited” still depends on CPU, fair-use and software limits
BisectHosting $5.99/month, or $4.80/month paid annually 2 GB RAM Managed beginner hosting Annual rate is a different billing commitment
Apex Hosting $11.24 first month, then $14.99/month Not stated in the cited summary Established managed option First-month discount makes renewal especially important
Nodecraft Pro From $9.98/month 2 GB RAM Managed server with a higher entry budget Verify recurring price and included features

Independent-looking lists do not make these figures permanent. For example, budget roundups at WPShout, Gizmodo and Bitcatcha publish different prices and rankings. Use the provider’s checkout page for the final amount.

How much RAM do you actually need?

Small vanilla world

For two to five friends with modest view distance, 1–2 GB can be workable. That is the range represented by the smallest free and budget plans above. Leave headroom for world generation and backups instead of allocating every advertised megabyte to the Java process.

Regular group or plugins

A 2–4 GB paid plan is a more comfortable starting point for a group that plays frequently, uses several plugins or wants faster chunk generation. Player count alone is not a reliable sizing method: exploration, redstone machines, farms and simulation distance can create short CPU spikes.

Modpacks and larger communities

Cost guides for 2026 put modded servers at roughly 8 GB RAM or more. Worlds serving 10–20 players are commonly estimated at $15–$25 per month, while heavier modded setups are estimated at $30–$50 per month. These are rough market guides, not quotes; the specific modpack, Java version, CPU and backup needs determine the real requirement. The estimates are discussed by WiseHosting and HytHost.

Free hosting versus Minecraft Java Realms

Realms is the simpler, official-style choice when you want a fixed subscription and minimal server administration. A 2026 roundup reports a single Java Realm tier at $7.99 per month, but that price was not verified on Mojang’s own site. Independent hosts offer a wider range of RAM, storage, mod/plugin support and geographic locations, while also requiring you to manage versions, backups and migrations.

Consideration Free host Paid independent host Java Realm
Cost $0, subject to limits Reported about $1–$15+ monthly for common plans $7.99/month reported; verify current official price
Empty-server uptime Usually sleeps Usually always-on when plan says so Designed as an always-available subscription service
RAM and scaling Low or uncertain Selectable plans, with 8 GB+ for demanding modpacks Fixed tier reported
Administration Panel varies; renewal may be manual Panel, files, backups and software choices vary Less infrastructure management
Mods and plugins Depends on host and plan Often broader support; verify loader and version More limited than a fully configurable server

Choose the option that matches your priority: convenience and a fixed service for Realms, zero cost for occasional play, or control and scalability through paid hosting.

Moving a world from Aternos without losing it

Panels use different labels, but the migration sequence is consistent. Do not cancel the old server until the new copy has been tested.

  1. Create an independent backup. Download the complete world folder from the Aternos file or world-management area. Keep a second copy on your computer; a panel backup is not a substitute for an offline copy.
  2. Record the environment. Note the Minecraft version, Java edition, server software (vanilla, Paper, Fabric, Forge or another loader), installed mods or plugins, seed settings and gamerules. A version mismatch is a common cause of crashes or missing blocks.
  3. Select adequate resources. Match the new plan to your player count and software. Start with 2–4 GB for a small vanilla group and consider 8 GB or more for a substantial modpack. Check CPU, storage, backups and location as well as RAM.
  4. Create the new instance. In the destination panel, choose the same Minecraft version and server software. Let it generate once, then stop it before replacing files.
  5. Upload the world. Use the panel’s world importer or FTP/file manager. Upload the folder containing level.dat and the region data, then set the server’s world name to that folder if the panel requires it.
  6. Reinstall mods and plugins. Copy only versions compatible with the destination server and Java runtime. Do not mix Fabric, Forge and plugin files; they use different loading systems.
  7. Transfer configuration carefully. Move selected files such as server.properties, whitelist entries and operator permissions, but review paths and memory flags instead of blindly overwriting provider-specific settings.
  8. Test privately. Join alone first, travel to several areas, verify inventories and permissions, then invite one or two friends. Watch the console for out-of-memory errors and repeated tick-time warnings.
  9. Announce the new address and keep the backup. Give players the new connection details only after the test succeeds. Retain the original Aternos download until everyone confirms that the world and progress are intact.

Fixing the “Aternos server keeps sleeping” problem

Why it happens

Stopping a few minutes after the last player leaves is normal behavior for Aternos according to comparison guidance, and it is common on free alternatives. Sleeping saves the provider’s resources; it is not evidence that your world is corrupted.

What you can do

  • Use a paid plan explicitly marked as always-on if players need to connect at any time.
  • Choose a free host only when everyone accepts manual wake-up delays and possible queues.
  • Check whether the provider requires renewal, login activity or a daily confirmation; missing it can suspend or delete the server.
  • Keep regular downloadable backups so a free-tier deletion policy cannot erase your only copy.

Do not rely on unattended bots or other methods intended to defeat an idle policy. They may violate a host’s terms and still will not solve resource or renewal limits.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Price and policy checklist before you pay

  1. Separate promotion from renewal. Record the price after the first month or introductory term. One reported plan is $11.24 for the first month and $14.99 thereafter; a 24-month commitment can also show a low monthly figure that renews higher.
  2. Confirm the billing interval. Compare monthly and annual totals, cancellation dates, taxes and refund rules. An annual discount is not equivalent to a month-to-month price.
  3. Verify the resource definition. Ask whether RAM is dedicated, burstable or shared, and look for CPU limits, storage type, database limits and backup space.
  4. Read the idle and deletion policy. “Free” can mean sleep, daily renewal, a 12-hour deletion timer or country restrictions. Save the policy page or screenshot the checkout terms.
  5. Check software compatibility. Confirm the exact Java version, mod loader, plugin support and whether custom jars are allowed before ordering.
  6. Test support and recovery. Find out how to download a full world backup, how restores work and how support handles a failed node or corrupted disk.
  7. Check location and latency. Select a region close to most players, but do not trade away backups or adequate CPU merely for a small ping improvement.

Bottom line

Godlike.Host is listed first among the paid options: Minecraft Java, Bedrock and modded hosting with its own game panel, free DDoS protection, up to three free backups a day and 24/7 support by live chat or ticket. In our 13 October 2026 test, a Godlike.Host Minecraft Java (Paper) server on a 16 GB plan in Amsterdam reached “Done” in 6.25 s on first start. It also has a free 2 GB Minecraft server (20 slots) for trying the panel; that server must be extended every 3 hours, has limited panel features and one location.

For a free Minecraft server without Aternos, Minehut is the simplest small-world starting point, FalixNodes is worth investigating if its current country and renewal rules suit you, and Minefort is another lightweight option. None should be assumed to provide uninterrupted uptime. Pay for hosting when “always available” matters, and size the plan by software and workload: roughly 2–4 GB for a modest vanilla group and 8 GB or more for demanding modpacks. Treat every 2026 price and free-tier specification as provisional until the provider confirms it at signup.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
